Day 10 round 2 wondering why

I've been mostly eating 2 eggs at breakfast (and occasionally a Chomps turkey stick) with coffee. When I have one, I put avocado slices on the eggs.

Thanks! I've also decided that I am going to try a 80/20 paleo regime after reintroduction. And that I will work on getting a handle on meal planning in advance (weekly), as well as shopping weekly and that way, I won't have to rely on a quick fix meal.

Day 10 round 2 wondering why

Hi and thanks for the info and encouragement. I'm sure I will push myself (or be pushed in a positive way) to do the 30 days. I just feel like it's been so long already and it's only been 10. Basically, I ended up noticing that I like sweet potatoes and cucumbers and salmon much more than I used to (many of the same foods from last time). And yes, I can distinguish and generally notice the varying flavors of food and combinations more. But other than that, I just struggle to get enthusiastic about meats and veggies or salads (ugh, salads - I mostly hate them. So much chopping for so little return, imo). What do you mean by ingredient meals vs recipes? I have never been one to enjoy or learn cooking for myself, and I get easily bored with the same thing or very similar thing day after day. I'm better than I used to be about leftovers, but given a choice, I don't eat many. I haven't eaten any dried fruit or nut bars. I have eaten some veggies in between meals a few times, and/or compliant dried meat sticks. I have the hardest time with hunger between breakfast and lunch, usually. Schedule wise, I get 20- 25 minutes to heat/prep and eat lunch (from 11:05-11:30). It's exhausting on top of the already taxing mentally charged job I have. I don't always feel snacky after work, but end up eating dinner not until 6:30 or 7 at night. And although I would normally keep drinking wine after dinner (my partner is a winemaker and we live on a working vineyard, ha), I haven't had many issues with cravings after dinner. One thing I've also noticed this time around is that I am eating less - smaller portions - which is probably a big (and good) thing for me. My fiancé and I eat fairly healthy food on a regular basis, but when I'm left to prep/cook/plan/shop alone, I'm far more likely to want to order pizza. Or have burritos from our local taco stands. I 100% don't have any problems valuing myself, so I know it's not that. I also mostly have really liked the food I've cooked. I'm pretty sure my main thing is getting past the cravings stage and the meal planning/prep that makes me still so frustrated.
  6. So, I did whole30 4 years ago, and then, didn't notice many changes except that I started to really like some foods that were only okay beforehand. I also started to notice the strength of the flavors. This time, I am doing it alone (last time was with my now-fiance, this time he is supportive but isn't doing it himself). I'm on day 10 and while I can see those same benefits happening this time with regard to food tastes, I want a more motivating change to happen. Yes, I need to lose weight, but this isn't really about that. I want cravings to go away and stay away, but I'm just wondering why it feels much harder to get to 30 days this time. And also, because I know what my biggest food cravings and most easily indulged categories of food are (bread and wine, mostly): I am also wondering why I need to fully eliminate for the full 30 days? I guess I just also want some outside encouragement because I hate cooking and food shopping and planning. And for this, it's essentially all on me this month to do those things (also because I work from home this time). I know I CAN do it, but why do I have to do 30 days on round 2 instead of, say 20?

Day 9 (Tuesday 4-9-19) Breakfast: 2 turkey Chomps meat sticks; coffee Lunch: 2 fried eggs, small sweet potato with moroccan dipping sauce; 1/4 English cucumber Dinner: Shakshouka with added homemade oven-roasted tomatoes I struggled more today than yesterday. I got despondent and bored and didn't want to cook. I am enjoying the whole foods, but the restriction on bread (especially) and wine was just harder to push through than it had been. I also have been questioning why I am even doing this. Why the entire 30 days, when I've done it before? Why am I doing it when no one else around me is? (although my fiance does happily eat whatever I may and he does encourage me)

Skipping ahead, because I forgot, but I have stayed compliant (even as angry as I've gotten/been over the weekend about wanting foods I can't have)... Day 8 (Monday 4-8-19) Breakfast: 2 poached eggs; coffee Lunch: smoked salmon, olives, pickles, one large spoonful of almond butter Dinner: locally and sustainably raised beef pot roast (made in instant pot); sweet potatoes, carrots and broth. ** I feel like I have slightly turned a corner. I still crave mostly sweets, but I wasn't angry today, I didn't snack and I didn't feel a need to drink wine when others at the table were (and I love wine).

Yikes. I have had a couple of nightmares, but I didn't think it was directly related - since the dreams I had when I did it last time were food craving related. Hm, interesting. And yes, I too am bored because I really don't LOVE meat and I love some veggies, but they're just not satisfying yet. Good luck!!

Day Three (4-3-19) SOOOO tired today. Not sure if Whole30 related or just trouble sleeping but time will tell. Breakfast: egg frittata with veggies and leftover ground beef, black coffee Lunch: Ground beef with Moraccan dipping sauce; 3 olives and 1 pickle Dinner: Ginger shrimp with Zucchini noodle stir-fry (from The Whole30 Fast and Easy Cookbook)

I love avocados but I can imagine the texture can be an issue for some. I also love spicy foods, so adding compliant hot sauce (like Cholula) and sea salt makes the avocados and eggs even better. My other main problem is that I don't like to cook. I did buy the Whole30 Fast and Easy Cookbook for this round. And I also have an instant pot now so I'm hoping to use those in conjunction more this month.

Hi. My name is Erin and I started my second Whole30 yesterday (4-1-19). My fiancé and I did one together 4 years ago this month. He is supporting me this time with an alcohol fast and by making me breakfast (while I make compliant dinners for us). I've said many times in the past year that I was going to do another Whole30 but this is my first time getting back to it. I am also logging my food this time, which I did not do before, so I hope that makes a difference. My primary goal is to stop craving my big 3: wine, bread and sugar. I'm glad to have this community and I'm happy to communicate with anyone who needs/wants to share or talk. We can do this!

    EV's Whole30 Round 2 Food Log

Day Two (4-2-19) Breakfast: 2 poached eggs with cholula hot sauce Lunch: smoked salmon over salad (leftover salad from last night - spinach, romaine, avocado, green onions, celery. carrots) with chimichurra sauce dressing Dinner: local, grass-fed (antibiotic/hormone free) ground beef, 1 baked sweet potato, 1 small avocado with Cholula hot sauce and Moraccan dipping sauce from cookbook Well-Fed: Paleo Recipes for People Who Love To Eat by Melissa Joulwan (same as above) Also, I haven't really experienced The Hangover stage, but I was still quite hungry between meals. I don't remember having many of the stages symptoms the last time I did Whole 30 (4 years ago to the month) either. I wonder if this time will be different. I am craving snack foods and sugar, and I definitely wanted wine with dinner and while cooking, especially. We'll see where it goes.
