Thanks for pointing that brand out! I bought this brand last time: Muscle Pharm Grass-Fed Whey Isolate Vanilla -- 28 Servings It was an improvement, but organic is even better! Sorry I have been away from the site for a while. Time to get back on the wagon!! https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Force%C2%AE-Organic-Protein-Tasting/dp/B00NGT4M7Y/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1545252340&sr=8-3&keywords=natural%2Bforce%2Borganic%2Bwhey&th=1

    4/2/2018 Starting Whole30

Hello Every!! I'm not quite at the end, I'm going until May 15th because of a slip and I want to stay Whole30 while are doing a weight loss challenge at work. Whole30 has been an amazing experience for me! The number one benefit is that I cooked all except one meal for myself the entire month of April. That is a miracle. I spent way too much money, purchased new cookware, a spiralizer, an Instant Pot, dusted off my food processor. (I am determined to make the perfect beet chip. I doubled my grocery bill but I slashed my eating out bill. My son is addicted to breakfast egg muffins, I love them too, because it's hard for me to eat boiled eggs, I had to come up with a plan to eat eggs on the go. I also joined Real Plans, game changer for me. Whole30 stopped my crazy snacking at night. That was huge! The first thing I want to add back is some type of powdered protein because I workout a lot, and I need to be able to have fast protein when I'm on the run. I found out that Dr. Axe has a bone broth protein that is expensive, but it's a very healthy way to get protein. I also discovered adding beet powder to the protein as a fast way to add a healthy carb post workout. I could also roast beets and add them to a smoothie if I have more time. I plan to read some of the Whole30 books and do another Whole30 in the future. I felt a little rushed going into this Whole30. I plan to stay Paleo-ish because I want to fight inflammation. I think it's the best option. The only thing I really want to add back is legumes, and a very limited amount of grains, very slowly. (Beans and rice will help my food budget! ) Sorry I wasn't more active on the forum, but I was spending so much time in the kitchen, I am getting a little more efficient with my cooking now too! I lost 10 lbs so far!! Great journey!

Spending way too much $$ on groceries!

I know this is an old thread, but I just looked at my grocery bill. WOW I need to read this thread because my grocery bill went through the roof during the month of April. I did buy a lot of spices and and pantry items to get me set up for cooking. And granted I only ate out once this month, that includes my son, so some of the money that was going to restaurants is now shifted to grocery. But I need to get a handle on this!!

I'm still hanging in here, my normal routine days are not so bad, I have been craving cheese and raisin brand cereal though. Friday a dear co-worker retired and they had her luncheon at the absolute worse place on the planet for a Whole30! I ate a salad before I went to the luncheon so that I could be strong. I thought I was ordering within program: a salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, grilled rainbow trout and a double order of veggies because all of the sides were horrid. Everything was covered in oily butter. I picked at the fish mainly and then packed it up and brought it home to my 20 year old son who will eat anything. It actually made him sick! Ugh. In hind site, I'm not sure if I violated the Whole30 because I didn't think to ask them to steam the veggies and not to use butter. I read the Dining Out Guide AFTER this debacle trip. <sigh> I wasn't prepared. I'm willing to add another 5 days to my 30 due to this error. I'm not in danger of any crazy dining out experiences over the next 2 months or so. I used to hate cooking, now I am happy to be cooking.

Hello everybody!! I apologize for being MIA, I started on Monday as planned. I prepared some meals ahead of time so I didn't panic. I know I will have to be on my meal prep game!! I stocked my pantry and freezer. I bough an Instant Pot. I'm not messing around! My main complaint that I'm trying to resolve with this diet reset is psoriasis and other autoimmune symptoms. My family on my dad's side suffer from various autoimmune aliments. I figure I better get a handle on my diet now to help prevent or delay these issues. I'm in the middle of some home projects, including spring cleaning, I don't really have time to think about food. I'm reading the Whole30 book when I can. I love the idea of making a protein salad. I'll be sure to have one every week. I better learn to love boiled eggs. I'm not a fan, but I can't have my whey protein isolate before my workouts, I needs my protein!! lol Thank the LORD I live close to a Sprouts market. It's my new best friend!! Costco has Pacific Organic chicken bone broth, 6 boxes for $19.99 !!!! Best price on the planet. I will be living on that stuff. It's low sodium and will be the base for all of my soups. I made mayo for the first time in my life!! I rather like it, I almost killed my immersion blender though. Next time I will use a whole egg and some water to help loosen up my batch. I joined Real Plans because I am awful at meal planning on my own. It's worth the price, the service will pay for itself because I won't be wasting as much food and I will definitely cut down on eating out. I'll catch up on the thread and post later! Way to go everyone!! #Whole30

    Xanthan Gum

So my fav salad dressing is Whole 30 approved! Ingredients: canola oil, water, white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, salt, garlicpuree (garlic, citric acid), spices, mustard flour, xanthan gum, mixedtocopherols (antioxidant -- vitamin e). Real French Vinaigrette | Sugar Free Salad Dressing | Briannasas I plan to go easy on the canola oil, but it's good to know i can use then I find myself in a jam.

    Glutamine supplement

Jarrow Formulas L-Glutamine does not contain any additives. I'm not sure why this would not be Whole30 compliant. I plan to take Branch Chain Amino Acids before and after my workouts. I have one that does not contain soy lecithin.

    4/2/2018 Starting Whole30

Hello, I'm planning on starting April 2nd, I'm 55 y/o. I workout almost daily, and I want to loose that last 10 -13 lbs that keep creeping back up on me over the winter. I also have some autoimmune issues, such as occasional psoriasis and general joint inflammation that I would like to get under control. I know it is all food related. I workout really hard in the mornings. I lift weights, jog and do HIIT workouts. My biggest challenge with the Whole30 plan is that I use whey protein isolate before and after every workout. I have to figure out how to get fast acting protein into my system at 5:30 am. I can't really eat before I workout, I prefer to workout on a near empty stomach. So I have a challenge here. I'm also picky about my protein. I just picked up one of the newer Whole30 cook books and found there are a lot of beef and pork recipes in there. I shy away from those meats. I need to look into vegetarian Whole30 options that provides complete protein. It's hard to get a vegetarian complete protein without beans and rice. I hate to be all picky! This Whole30 sounds like the exact thing that I need!

    Early morning workout foods

I am hard core, I mix it with water and take it "straight to the head". lol It tastes like battery acid or something worse. I chase it down with another full glass of water to get the taste out of my mouth. I refuse to get the flavored kind because of the dyes, sweeteners and artificial flavorings. I love what it's doing for me so I figure it's worth the nastiness!!

    Early morning workout foods

@ladyshannyI have one brand of BCAAs that has Soy lecithin in the ingredients lost but my Xtend unflavored BCAAs does not! Thank goodness!!! I'm never giving up my BCAAs!! It's good to know that I should avoid brands with the soy lecithin. ETA: Thanks for the link about collagen not being a complete protein!

    Early morning workout foods

I'm considering doing the Whole30. I workout first thing in the morning fasted but I usually have branch chain amino acids before my workout to preserve muscle. Then I am in an all fire hurry to get to work after my workout so I have been having Whey protein isolate with more BCAAs and something sweet like juice or oatmeal until I can get to work and eat an actual meal. I'm going to re-think this. I know I can't have the whey. But I can't see myself giving up the BCAA's. I have gotten such good results since I started them, with improved strength and muscle growth. Are BCAAs Whole30 approved? I'm willing to consider having tuna or chicken and a sweet potato or a beet after my workouts really quick before I leave the house while I'm on the Whole30. I think I also read that collagen protein is allowed on the Whole30? I'm really concerned with getting enough protein. Thanks!
