Psyching up for a December W30!

Day #4 going strong. Today was harder-stronger cravings for sweets but I think it’s the lingering cold, fatigue &, returned to CrossFit yesterday, so being sore! Basically I’ll use any excuse to crave &, historically, eat sweets but it was another clean day. I know the cravings continue to dissipate just gotta hold on! Thanks gang!

Psyching up for a December W30!

Day #3: head cold is improving. I had a strong temptation today in the form of GF Carob cookies & I refrained that was a WIN! Cravings for sweets are still present but manageable. Onward!

Psyching up for a December W30!

Day #1 went well considering a small head cold. Matcha tea is not as fantastic with compliant unsweetened almond milk but it was further data! I’m interested in the Walmart Whole30 frozen meals though I don’t typically shop there. Are there any equivalent compliant frozen meal options at Target? Thanks everyone. Here’s to day #2!!!

Psyching up for a December W30!

Hey Gang, I’m in for December 2018. Turning 37 in one week on 12/8 & this is the best gift I could give myself! I’ve done one Whole30 successfully and it was amazing. I’ve done several failed attempts since then but I’m optimistic this time. I have more tools in my belt! Thanks! Shoshana
  5. Ok, I'm back and joining you all for the big start date of May 1st. I did a Whole 21 several months ago. Yep, that's right, not a Whole30. I was compliant for 21 days and, in full awareness, consumed a non-compliant item at the 21 day mark with intentions of resuming my compliant eating the next day which I did....until I didn't. Anyway, this means that this is my first Whole 30 officially because it doesn't count if it isn't the full 30 days which I respect. I've tried restarting a few times mid-month but I think starting on the first day of the month with others is the way to go! I'm looking forward to NSV such as increased energy, focus, clarity, and less cravings. My sugar dragon is some crazy Lord of The Rings "Balrog"-for real! I'm looking forward to taming that beast. Yes, of course I'm also looking forward to a minimal weight loss as I am currently at the higher end of my healthy weight range, still healthy but not at my greatest comfort/confidence level. Also, my toddler son is a huge motivator. I really want to model a healthier relationship with food for him. I want to cultivate a more nourishing connection to food in our home and family life. Here's to us team. We can do it!

The Tiger Tots of the CFC

I'm in and ready for an official reset/restart in October. I'm doing okay but still struggling with lot of doubts. Stupid stuff, all mental games but a continued month, group support, and accountability will be good for me for sure. Does anyone do the daily whole30 emails (I think it's $15/month)? Have they been helpful? I own both the books which were a great support and of course the online resources and this phenomenal bunch of tiger tots! See you all this Thursday for October 1st Whole30 goodness!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day #2: Fully compliant day. I'm hitting the tunafish kind of hard this week due to poor protein source prepping toward the end of the week but I figure it isn't a regular habit so I'm ok with it. I know recommendations are to limit to 2 can a week I believe and yes I get the wild caught eco friendly kind. Clean compliant meals with some snacking and fruit but I'm okay with that because literally ANYTHING is better than going back to the old ways of eating my son's left over animal crackers just because or dipping into my husband's tortilla chip bag over and over and over again through the course of an afternoon. NO THANK YOU. When I eat this way I don't do those behaviors and the mental obsessions lessens and I'm more free. It ain't perfect but I won't let perfect be the enemy of good. Thanks gang!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Thank you for the encouragement and support. I am considering joining the October 1st group as well and continuing to do the Whole30 lifestyle. I think you missed the Epic bar ( compliant turkey/craisin jerky) with my pear as my snack. Yes I agree that fruit solo as a snack is no goodie especially for my sugar dragon! Thanks!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day #1: Wow! Thanks for ALL of the support and encouragement. You guys are exceptionally generous and understanding. Part of me was thinking I would be shunned and blocked from posting further?!?! Oh, the shame! Anyway, healthy compliant breakfast today and packed lunch plus a plan for dinner this evening and an epic bar and pear for a snack if I need it. Feeling optimistic about starting over and accepting that it's okay, I rarely do things perfectly but I do them to completion at some point! Thanks again gang. You guys rock. Although I won't be celebrating a full Whole30 with you next week I'll be there in spirit and be about one week into my own Whole30 reset attempt. Thanks!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day 0: Moment of truth: I consumed a very blatant non-compliant item on Saturday, September 19th. After 20 days of Whole30 compliance. Ironically, I think it started with my intention to reduce fruit and nuts which backfired! I could make excuses forever, bottom line is I knew what I was doing, it was an intentional decision, a choice I made. I regret it. Especially now that I've tried to return to compliance and have struggled so much more. Struggling with the mentality that I've messed up what's the point of continuing especially since that's how the program is outlined which I completely understand and respect.Trying not to have the "what the hell effect?" because I could still benefit from eating this way longterm and not returning to old habits that don't serve me. Anyway, I don't want to be triggering to anyone else who may be struggling but I'm seeking some words of wisdom on how to get back on track when you have derailed hard.

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

No, you most certainly are NOT the only one. I had an ongoing love affair with dates (and almond butter) which they even cited in that article long before embarking on my first Whole30 twenty-two days ago! I began Whole30 for emotional/psychological reasons more than anything. I was getting very compulsive with sweets and doing things I hadn't done in years with food! Basically chasing a sugar high most days and feelings guilty, remorseful, weak, etc. ANYWAY, that has reduced but I definitely have relied too heavily on fruit, dates and nuts/nut butters during my Whole30. Some days were better than others but I know I have not slayed my sugar dragon,I have tamed it a bit, perhaps it's in shackles for now but it's still quite strong. Anyway, I'm with you. I like that someone else really wants to commit to reducing their reliance on fruit in a public manner. I know I'm not going to like it and I've resisted it this far into the program but it's the only way to change my taste preferences. My cravings have improved immensely and I feel a lot more food freedom than 3 weeks ago when I started but there's definitely room for improvement. Starting small (not so small for me but may appear so to others )- Goal for the week: 2-3 servings of fruit daily; 1 serving of nut butter or nuts. If the nut goal is a bust then I will revise and remove nut butter for a week. In fact, in writing that it's clear to me that the goals needs to NO NUT BUTTERS this week. 1 servings of nuts daily is okay. Alright then here we go. Best to you all on your last week?!?! What?!?! I'm also considering joining Whole30 starting October 1st to continue working out these kinks and getting more adjusted to this lifestyle! Thanks gang!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day #16: Gggggrrr baby very ggggrrrr! Teehee. I don't have full on Tiger Blood but it was a good day in a sequence of many lately. Imagine: eating whole non-processed foods and removing potential allergens from your diet makes you feel better?!?! Whawhawhawhat?!?! I started a Whole30 Log we will see how that goes. I historically don't do well with those things but was hoping to post it for a few days at a time to trouble shoot with moderators/advanced members. Again, my main goal is reducing my dependence on fruit, not eliminating it, I still will do 2-3 servings daily but THAT IS IT! Anyway, whipped up this goodie for a quick dinner tonight after putting the munchkin (one of my toddler's many aliases) to bed at 7:30 p with hubby at a late meeting. Probably not the MOST nutritious but it is compliant, tasty and convenient. Check it: cut up chicken breast (pre-made in fridge); 1 T compliant mayo; herb roasted brussell sprouts (also left overs); 1 large cucumber; 2 slices pepperoni; 1/4 C pistachios: mix it cold, eat it, love it. Yum! On to day #17 yeah!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day #15: Thanks for the taming of the sugar dragon tips Vozelle, I really like the image of being a warrior against it, I have to hold my ground when the 'eat fruit again' cravings strike! Reducing fruit intake DID NOT happen today but it's still a primary goal right now. Apparently tomorrow is Day #16 when "Tiger Blood" hits. We shall see. I don't think it will be quite that dramatic for me. I've been finding that most days I do feel better and my energy is higher but I still have my moments. Environmental factors contribute a lot too. I work part-time and stay home with my two-year-old son the other days. He's freaking awesome but he's two. Period. Anyway, made a ton of roasted vegetables, chicken breasts, and bison burgers today so should be set for a few. Goal for the week: make 2 new recipes and reduce FRUIT. I'm loving the food but starting to get a bit bored so I need to mix it up. Thanks gang, keep truckin'!

    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day #14 : Question: How do you navigate these forums? For example, how do you go directly to other's responses/feedback to your posts? How do you request friends? UPDATE: NS Victories: continued improvement in mood and energy which has resulted in more harmonious relationships and reduced anxiety/depression. Went out for the first time since starting Whole30 last night. It was hard not having a drink with everyone but felt good to stick to my commitment and goals. Drank water, brought an Epic turkey jerky and had a compliant meal when I returned home. The magic is definitely starting to happen. As others have commented I too aspire to eat close to this way when this is over in two short weeks! Although it is time to tweak some things such as reducing fruit to 2-3 servings daily and not using it as a pick me up or dessert. That's going to be VERY hard for me but I know I have to do it. I see the recommendation is to eat fat and protein instead of fruit (for the sweet kick) which sounds great in theory but in the moment it's TOUGH. I guess it's time to employ some other coping skills because this will be a great challenge. What have others done to make this transition in their Whole30?
