JenX got a reaction from Keen On Clean Fuel in JenX- Round 3.5 June 2019
okay, i'm beginning to think it IS tiger blood.  I'm sitting here at work, bouncing in my chair, thinking about sneaking out for a run. I am AWAKE but not in a "i'm had too much caffeine" kind of way. I'm wishing I had a tread-desk.

I would love to join this group. My husband and I just started our first ever Whole30 today and I need all the encouragement I can get. I know y’all are way ahead of me but that’s fine with me if it doesn’t bother you.

@Grace247 It's better to take your time and make sure you're ready!

Day 20 and I have officially achieved food boredom. I tried really hard to keep the recipes fresh and new and even that didn't help. everything I am eating right now is just a chore. I know this is all part of it (at least for me), and won't last forever but I hate this part! I was up at 6 but couldn't even face breakfast until I got into work at 9am and then still had to choke it down. sigh.  I've also progressed from good sleep to sleeping like a coma patient. I am out so hard my alarm is startling me out of bed and i'm groggy for an hour after i'm up. I think I need to start exercising...that's the only thing that normalized me sometimes.
    Happy almost week 3 everybody!

Doctors appointment today, and it went great! My blood pressure went from high to normal it was 120/70! I have lost 15 lbs as well (I knew it had to be significant because my pants are too big now). I know you’re not supposed to weigh yourself but they always weigh you at this doctor. Also I’m off Prilosec, I’m no longer nauseous...ever. Even my back pain is better.
    The Whole 30 works, y’all.

So, I've already told an untruth; I didn't start yet!  I want all my ducks lined up before I begin...then hopefully I won't fail.

Another non-breakfaster here! At least when not on Whole 30, which I am currently so I am eating breakfast. I prefer doing a 16:8 modified fast kind of deal. Coffee in the AM. If I'm truly hungry before lunch I may put a bit of cream in it, but that's really it.  Even when working out, I just don't need to eat first, and actually my belly thanks me if I don't!  As a matter of fact, that has been the hardest part of getting back on W30... remembering and taking the time to eat in the morning! LOL

Brunch:  Breakfast tray bake. Potato, turnip, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and capsicum tossed in evil and Old Bay, roasted with Polish sausage and topped with a couple of eggs. YUM!!
Dinner is roast beef with roasted veggies. Why?... because it's my dog's birthday and I'm making him a roast dinner... Here's my boy:

This was the best thing that I could have ever done for my body. To be intentional of what I’m feeding my body and how I am fueling it has been an amazing experience. It was definitely uncomfortable but wasn’t “hard.” My eating habits pre-Whole30 were really bad - I’m talking about sugary cereal for breakfast, maybe another bowl for lunch (if I ate), and a Lean Cuisine or something along those lines for dinner. I also travel 100% for work, so many days, I just ate whatever was in the lounge - whatever that may have been. In the past 30 days, I’ve become proud of what I eat, and mealtime is now sacred for me. I feel better and I look better (down 8 lbs - which is significant for me). I’m going to continue for another 15 days before the reintroduction, but I want to encourage anyone to continue to see it through. I really didn’t get the benefits until after week 2, and since then, it has indeed been Tiger Blood. Good luck, everyone!

So I am starting back on the Whole30.  I did really well a year ago, then sort of fell off of any planned eating protocol.  My friend and I started KETO with high hopes.  He lost 20# and I, well, I know where they went!  I FOUND THEM!  Having psoriasis, the KETO was good for that but not for my weight.  I'm okay with that experience and now wantto go back.

I use it for sure! every time I cook bacon I strain the fat and put it in a jar in the fridge. I also  save the fat from roasting chicken. Just put it in the fridge and scrap off all the lovely white fat after it separates from the juices and solidifies. Delish!
Hot bacon fat drizzled on greens = amazing! or to use it to oven roast veggies. Mmmm. now i'm drooling

Well, I've been away from the Forum since 2015, but here I am back again for another round. This is either #4 or #5 (I lost count!).  I have learned valuable things each and every time and I hope this Whole30 will be the same experience.  For the past 3'ish years I've done my own thing... eating mostly Paleo, sometimes Keto, doing some AF here and there. The good news is I won't have any trouble with carb flu. I'll actually have to pay close attention to get in some of the starchier veggies and fruits! it's going to be hard to walk back away from the dairy again, but I know it needs to happen. that and the wine. mmmmm, wine!

So, why am I doing this? My problems are related to hormonal changes in large part  (thanks, Menopause!) - in the past year it's caused weight gain, loss of energy plus my sleep quality is truly terrible.  I'm hoping this round of W30 will help me find a bit more balance. I know it even this can't work a miracle when battling mother nature, but I'll take whatever help I can get! LOL!

I've had vertigo off and on in the past - the benign paroxysmal positional variety, so bad sometimes that turning over in bed would make me nauseous.  Have you tried the at home exercises?  I'm sure you have, but on the very rare off-chance you haven't:
    https://www.webmd.com/brain/home-remedies-vertigo#1
If yours are neurologic this won't help, but if it's the above variety just may. It resolves mine every time (so far).

Also, don't discount it may indeed be the legumes, or at least in part.  After my whole30, reintroducing peanuts gave me migraine.
    Feel better!

    Here's to Day 11!
I got through the weekend successfully. The first weekend of my Whole30 is always the hardest. My Whole30 essentials start to dwindle by Friday and I have to get creative with meals before my weekly grocery run on Sunday.
My sleep has gotten much better. I can fall asleep easily and sleep through most of the night. With the increased sleep, I have more energy in the morning. Not quite near Tiger Blood but getting there. This last week I was really dependent on coffee. I usually like to limit myself to one cup in the morning but had to reach for a second on some days. I'm back to one coffee a day and feeling much more energized.
@JenX I'm right with you on the scale thing! I like to see that immediate payoff when I'm taking steps to lose weight but seem to ignore the scale when I'm not as diligent! haha! It's been a little difficult not weighing/measuring. Instead, I've been trying on some of my tightest pants to see if they're getting more comfortable. They're not loose by any means, but they are starting to get more comfortable.
    Here's to week 2! Congrats!

For me, eating out was possible when unavoidable, but not anything I'd do if I could avoid it. Sure, I can pick the menu down to its composite parts and have a meal, but what turns out to be a very plain meal costs me eating-out prices and the whole exercise was stressful, from thinking about what was on the menu, to asking all the questions, to hoping the answers were right, to eating my super boring meal around people eating all the nice food.
I love to cook, and I can be really creative at home, so the idea of deliberately going out to order, and pay $$$ for plain steak, plain baked potato and a salad I need to bring my own dressing for was just depressing.

If you haven't seen it, maybe look at the timeline. Based on the timeline, it would be prime time for you to bloat up, though it could also be the coconut aminos as you mentioned. That seems pretty common as well.

I've found that it tends to be people who are insecure with their own food choices that need to sabotage others. They know  they eat too much crap, and either (1) want to change but don't feel they can, or (2) don't want to change but know they should. And getting others to eat the same crap they want to eat justifies their bad choices. Good for you for handling the situation!

Sydney weekend! Finding it a bit tough, to be honest, had a compliant salad from a burger chain for brunch but it was very average, need to find somewhere for dinner ( until the average salad, i was happy to go there twice), we have a few hours to kill before the show and i really just want to find a nice bar to lounge in, but that won't end well.

This didn't post so update, went to a seafood restaurant for dinner, had the most expensive dry plain fish and steamed broccolini of my life. Plus the worst coffee. I hate eating out on W30, can't understand why people do it voluntarily. All my food today sucked, can't wait to cook myself something worth eating!

I remember feeling rather huge my first time through, and my pants started fitting more tightly for a bit there... but in the end, I'd lost weight. I'm hoping the same holds through this time, because it's happening again  I AM trying to make a conscious effort of being mindful of how much is going into my mouth, though, because overeating is a life-long issue for me (and sometimes it's so sneaky and subtle, like "Oh, there's only a big spoonful of the mash left, and not even half a baggy worth of that roasted broccoli... yeah, I think I'll just eat them, that's not enough for anyone to really use..." but all that after I've already had my full meal, of course).
I agree that your picadillo description is amazing. I've always loved picadillo (made with beef, though) and think it's high time I throw something together to introduce my family to it... maybe next week!
