My plan is to stick with this way of eating through all the holidays for several reasons:
1- I need to loose weight
2- I have a serious carb/sugar addiction once I let the sugar dragon loose
3- I sleep better, feel better, act better when I don't eat sugar, etc
4- everyone around me benefits when I eat this way ;-)
I'm on another thread that started 11/16 and I'll join this one too!

I'll start another W30 with you Genat and Jenny! This is my 3rd this year. I'm on a quest to loose weight and more importantly feel healthy. Sugar and wheat are not good for me but because I love both, I'm here! We can lean on each other for the holiday.

Hello all. Great job on sticking with your Whole 30!! You're in the homestretch. Hang in there!
    Here's my plan...
My first W30 was in May. I had a very successful and committed W30. Felt the tiger blood around day 15, and felt pretty awesome from day 10 onward. No cravings, mood swings, heartburn, stomach aches, joint pain etc.
The reason I need to stick pretty close to W30 for life is because I have an autoimmune disease. When I eat grains, and sugar I just feel crappy and my symptoms reappear. Recently I was also diagnosed with severe glaucoma in my left eye. I'm already loosing some peripheral vision. I'm only in my 50's so this is a bit disturbing. So, long story short, I need to stay away from grains and sugar, my body just can't handle the carbs. So basically I will be doing W30 for the rest of my life. Every now and then I do have non compliant foods, but to stay healthy I really shouldn't eat that way. That's why I will continue to eat the W30 lifestyle, with a "treat" thrown in every 30 days or so.

    Greetings,

Well, day 13 in the books.   Feeling good but craving things like popcorn, cereal and snacky foods.  Find myself wanting to have a snack after dinner and between meals.  Have not been having snacks for the most part because I really want to break my snacking habit.   What's with my desire to out food in my mouth every time I walk in to the kitchen? As a mother of three, grade-school kids, I'm in the kitchen a lot!
Just aware of my tendency and habit of snacking throughout the day now that I am not doing it!

I hope you're all feeling great and ready to kickoff the second half.

jeanie793- love to hear what you ended up having at the Italian restaurant.  Having dinner in SF tomorrow night at an Italian place.  Was thinking about a seafood dish if available.

I KNOWyou have what it takes to have avoided pasta and bread...and even tiramisu???
Isn't it interesting that we think: all that training for nothing.....just like we think, oh no, I've blown XXX days of a whole 30 by going off road...might as well quit...when a simple hit of a reset button can just keep the program on track.

    Hi all
Lyrick! We wore the remote out last night switching between Hawks and Cubbies and no beer here either. What are we becoming? Ha!
Working from home today so making the best of the gorgeous weather here in the Midwest and working in my screened-in porch. Already went for two walks and planning another later. Got to take advantage of sunny and 70 degrees before all hell breaks loose!
    Later!

    Lyrick, welcome to the group!!

I'm on board to keep supporting each other after the 30 days.
I know it's almost impossible to turn the Whole30 into a WholeForever and that's not even my goal, but I find it extremely hard finding a new healthy eating habit after it. Last time I did the Whole30 I was supper happy and making myself promises that I would not go back to my old habits (I love everything with flour. Bread, bread, bread). But after a few weeks gluten was my best friend again. But if it serves of any encouragement, I must admit that a few habits changed for good: I now hate added sugar and I always read the labels to know how bad is the food I'm buying. So maybe the secret is to go Whole30 as many times as we can, improving a bit everytime til we find balance.

I don't know if you've seen these, but I find them enlightening.

    Hello everyone!
Back from my weekend camping trip and I'm having a difficult day. Is it because I stayed true to W30 foods and now I just want to self-sabotage? What gives? All I'm thinking about today is potato chips! Ugh!!!!!
These are the difficult days and I just want to make it through to the other side. After work I'm going for a long walk. Maybe the sunshine will do me some good.

Jeanie...you have the wisdom....movement is the answer!! I get what you are saying...the ways my mind wants to jump in and sabotage...sometimes, after I have been through a particularly challenging episode for remaining compliant, and I remain compliant, it is like my brain says: OK, now you get to reward yourself by screwing it all up...
    Crazy thinking...
You have your bearings right, I can tell...just hang on, drink water, keep moving, and lean in here when you need it

Tough withdrawals today, headache, crabby, and some other signs of depleting my system of too much Carbohydrate consumption. This shall pass!

I had the night off from making dinner for the family (non W30'ers) and had my leftover Sloppy's and a big salad. Then DH brings home a Panera sandwich, soup, and chips. DD and her BF bring home a pizza.... UGH!! But I stayed the course and didn't eat a bite! Feeling pretty strong right now and I'd like to bottle this strength for the next few weeks ;-)
Nice to have all the newcomers, welcome!
Debzella- I know your strength exists. This is Your Time. Cake is the sugar dragon and you are the dragon slayer!
    See ya'll tomorrow!
