Zoodles got a reaction from littlekirbo in WHOLE 100 starting tomorrow, Oct. 18th!!
Yay! I got worried when no one had posted for a while that we'd let the whole team down! Keep going LK, I'm on Day 2 now, but I don't really think that the little hiccup on Sunday has set me back toooo much. I'm hoping that I'll see some good results sooner rather than later this time around! Hoping to 3 Whole30s in a row, but I prefer to tackle them one at a time I think, it's just easier for me to get a grip on 30 days rather than 100

    How are you doing LK?

I am actually on day 2 as well! Last week was really rough for me. I've been so down on myself for the weight I've gained since August. Barely any of my clothes fit which is a hard pill for me to swallow. Trying on new clothes in the store wasn't fun, especially when none of the jeans I tried on fit me right. So instead of wallowing in any more self-pity and eating away my feelings, I am choosing to fully take on a healthier lifestyle, both mentally and physically. I'm proud of us for not giving up.

That looks completely normal to me, except - Eat more lunch. I find if I haven't eaten heartily during the day I just can't stop after dinner. If I eat a proper breakfast and lunch then a lighter dinner is usually ok and I don't feel that unending urge to just have a little bit more.

    Hey!
It's good to hear everyone's updates. I value honesty a great deal so I'm glad you all are very open about where you're at in this journey.
I am choosing to continue with the Whole100. This thread motivates and encourages me tremendously! Like Zoodles said, let's keep going!

Ok.... So I made it through the kitchen tea... Well almost - I licked my finger after I'd finished helping to put together the cheese platter and had a teensy sip of champagne to toast.
Finally got home after a long and super exhausting weekend feeling pretty proud of myself.....and just now I've polished off the chocolate that's been sitting in my fridge since Halloween. WHY did I not get rid of it when I knew I should? Weak moments happen
Jumping back on tomorrow but I'm going to tackle just a Whole30 first, PROPERLY this time! As in no pointless snacking. I just think 100 days is too long for me to get a grip on, it's easier to do 30 and then extend. I'm only 5 days away from having done a Whole30 and I feel like if I'd had that in my head instead of some day at the end of January, I might not have caved. I don't want to feel like a failure at 35 days when I could be feeling like I've achieved a Whole30!
Anyway, sigh, pretty bummed but not giving up!

Urgh I did not have a good night yesterday, after I had the chocolate I had cheese, crackers and a whole lot of other random stuff. Feeling really sick and sorry for myself. Oh well here's a big hello to Day 1 (yet again)!

Sweet potatoes with skin. Every day.

I had the same problems until someone else on this forum suggested the sweet potato skin thing.... it really works

Could you try half ghee half unrefined coconut oil in the same pan? You never know, the flavours you don't like might magically cancel each other out

I'm with you on the not logging food! One of the drawbacks of Whole30 is you have to think about food so much, which is exactly the opposite of what we need to be doing.
Definitely cook bigger portions, even having leftovers for 1 meal a day makes a big difference. It took me a while to get a good rhythm going but now I cook up a meat dish and a veggie stew/curry/megamix on the weekend. I can add diff proteins to the veggie mix or blend and use as soup/sauce, and the meat dish I can add diff vegs to. So I still usually cook at least once a day but that's doable. Chop extra vegs while you're already chopping, and save absolutely every scrap of leftovers because sooner or later they add up to a meal lol!

Thanks!  I've also discovered that logging food is not a good fir for me.  I did not log at all during the WHole30 and that worked.  Logging post Whole30 has led to me thinking about food more than I had before.

The other hard thing for me has been that I am sick of prepping, cooking and cleaning up the kitchen for 3 meals a day.  I may need to start trying the make some larger portions on say, Sunday, to have quick meals available at least a couple of times a week.  I do not have the stamina/time in my day for quite so much kitchen time.

Zoodles reacted to noideawhatdayitis in 10 Things I Love about Whole30.
I finished my first Whole30 10 days ago.  Actually it was a Whole35, but I really don't have any idea what day it is.

If I am to be honest (and I like that this forum is honest, and incredibly supportive - thank you all for sharing your stories and advice so generously), I have spent the past 10 days completely freaking out about what I am going to do now.  What will I eat?  Do I trust myself to make good choices?  Food.  Food.  Food.  Will my head blow off if I eat sugar?  What are the moral implications of marshmallow fluff?  Why can my husband drink 12 beers and remain fat-adapted?  Why does prosecco taste so good?

I would actually like to stop thinking about food and start enjoying living my life.

The reason I've decided to post here is that I was getting so freaked out about next steps that I'd completely forgotten about the previous 35 days and all the awesome amazing things that happened to my body once I decided to start looking after it and give it a bit of love (in the form of homemade aioli, of course.  Can we all take a moment to think deeply about the miracle that occurs when one emulsifies eggs and olive oil?)

So here's my list - I'm pretty sure you all know what's coming but this is really for my benefit rather than yours.

    1. I stayed off a scale for 30 days.  No more numbers on the dial equalling my self-worth.  This was liberating.  I was forced to just sit in my body and feel the changes taking place.  For the first time in my life my body had a voice and I was able to hear it.

    2. When I did get on the scale I'd lost 5kgs.  Or in American, 11 pounds.  (The only time I use US English is when I am weighing myself.)  And this was with me being injured and doing little more than riding to work every day and yoga.  (No Crossfit for me.  I googled Crossfit and I still don't understand what it is.  And I don't like running either, it makes one so damp.)

    3.  I became a morning person.  THE MONUMENTALITY OF THIS CANNOT BE EMPHASISED ENOUGH.  My husband also says I am less cranky but clearly anyone who drinks 12 beers after running a marathon is a fool whose definition of "cranky" is incorrect.

    4.  I look at my plate of food at each meal and cannot believe I get to put fat on everything and THEN EAT IT.

    5.  No more waking up with a stiff, sore body.  A quick stretch and then I'm off to face the day.

    6.  Day 34 saw the arrival of Tiger Blood.  It dang sure took its time arriving but when it did - oh my.

    7.  I have had the best sleep of my life.  For someone who has had constant problems with sleep, this part is wonderful.  My head hits the pillow and I don't wake up once, even when 12 beers down husband is snoring like a freight train next to me.  (I'm hoping that next I learn how to put a pillow on his face without waking up.)  I still can't get over this, it's so good.

    8.  Clarified butter.  Adding salt to my food and being able to taste it.  Truffle oil on poached eggs for breakfast.  Coconut butter.

    9.  A truly improved sense of smell and taste (which has also meant that several off-road foods aren't as delicious as I remember.)

    10. Having my body love me back because I'm taking better care of it.

I'm still working out what comes next, but I feel excited about my life and all the things I'm going to be able to do.  And all this came about just because I changed what I ate.

Hey everybody! I would love to try W100 with you... I started on Oct 23, so today is day 16 for me; though I accidentally had something non-compliant during that time so I was planning on adding days to my W30. I would love to make it 100 days. We shall see!

Hahaha love seeing this! I can never understand when people at the farmers markets have a small basket with a bunch of baby carrots and a few potatoes in there?! What, is that for the whole week or a mid-morning snack?

For 1.5 (9 year old sticks mainly to potatoes and beans)

    1-2 celery
    1 cauliflower
    2 broccoli
    6 capsicum
    3 onions
    4 zucchini
    3 tomatoes + 300g cherry tomatoes
    2 avocados
    3 sweet poatoes
    2-4 turnips/swedes
    1 eggplant
    1/2 small pumpkin
    2 beetroot
    500g mushrooms
    7 carrots
    2 cucumbers
    Bunch spinach/kale
    Big bag of salad greens
    500g green beans

    4 apples
    3 bananas
    1 mango

Wow. I'm glad I don't have to hunt/gather all that.

I cut my meat thin, or bash it flat if it's fatter, you could cook it in the pan then finish off in the oven, or just bake it. I often just bake - starting with pre crumbed frozen meat helps as it takes longer to cook and the coconut goes brown

Hi Gin and welcome aboard! It's fantastic and really encouraging to hear you're having such great results
Francsois, my close calls are getting more frequent... I'm still hanging in there though! I was starving yesterday and because I've got rid of anything I can mindlessly snack on there was literally nothing to eat! Except for a bag of my son's Halloween chocolate and his cheese and bread... I almost rationalised eating some cheese and spitting it out but luckily I managed not to resort to that! Had a lot of trouble sleeping though. If I just saw some difference or positive results it would be easier to stay motivated, but I'll keep trucking along!

Some people go 4-6 weeks before they start losing weight when they need to lose weight. And you could be adding muscle by eating good and training the way you are. In fact, if you are not gaining muscle, you should probably get your money back from CrossFit!

I love all the encouragement!! I am DEFINITELY in it for the long haul this time around. Francsois, you're right. 3 months really is not long at all. We can do this! Zoodles, I'm with you on the goal of no snacking after dinner! I struggle with that sometimes!
