    Who's starting 1/1?

    Holy cow ladies and gentlemen - it is day 30!!! I feel like the first part of the month went pretty quickly but this last week felt like FOREVER! My NSV: my relationship with food is back on track, much less brain fog, not craving sweets, clothes fit better, stomach is flatter, less bloated and less tummy pains, not snacky during the day, spent hardly any money on eating out, I think I have more energy (but any tiger blood is being immediately sucked up by my almost 1-yr-old DS). Disappointments: the dermatitis on my face that I thought was clearing up did not, my daily muscle pains and dull headaches are still here (I was hoping it was due to inflammation from sugar but now realize it’s from years of bad posture, sports and accidents. Guess I’m going to have to get regular massages... dang. :) ) I’ve never done a correct food reintroduction after any of my previous Whole30s, so I am going to really try this time. I know something is causing my stomach to feel like there are rocks in my gut and I need to see what it is.

    @Jihanna I had a similar dream two nights ago. I drank a huge sugary alcoholic drink (without my knowledge) and when I woke up (in my dream) I was super peeved at my hubby for letting me drink it! Ha! My dreams are getting so vivid and real, even the ones that are not food related.

    Brain Fog

    So... is anyone else dealing with brain fog? I seriously feel like I am losing my mind. It makes everything so much harder! I don't know if it is from my drastic change in food, the fact that I have an 11-month-old that doesn't sleep through the night, or a combo of both... and am still just so tired.

    You are both probably right. I do salt my food and drink a ton of water. That being said, I don’t think I am eating enough fat with each meal. To the candida point, I was consistently eating a lot LOT more sugar this past year than I have done in a very long time, so it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the comments - I appreciate you taking the time to help. I will def give it more time and make sure I eat enough, salt my food and drink a lot of water.

    Feeling lightheaded

    I am soooo with you on that one @Scoots86! I start getting light headed and super brain foggy if I don't eat enough and then my anxiety starts, which only perpetuates the never ending circle! I completely agree with @laura_juggles - more food and more fat! I did the same thing my first couple rounds of the W30. I couldn't believe how much I needed to eat.
  6. Hi @fmb16 - You have my full support! Feel free to dm me at any time. I have gone through anorexia several times myself, and while it has been quite a while since I was in the throws of it, I will always be recovering. There are times that I notice myself going down "the path" and I know something has to be done. For example, this is my 5th or 6th W30 and I am doing it for very different reasons than the others. I had a baby almost 11 mos ago and started letting myself eat whatever was around - both because it was easy, and because I thought I deserved it as a reward. Fast forward to December and I was constantly saying to myself "Oh, I can have this chocolate cake as a treat today, I'll just make sure I'll eat better tomorrow." but as you can guess, tomorrow never came. I started to just not care what I was putting into my body at that point and quickly realized that the next "step" for me would be to completely panic and overcorrect my misguided food journey by cutting way too much food out of my life; slowly going down that road that I know all too well: obsession with what goes into my mouth and guilt over what I do put there. I decided at that very moment I needed another Whole30 to get my relationship back on track with food. If you haven't read the book "It Starts with Food" I highly recommend it. I am the type of person that wants to know the science and reasoning behind why I do things and what works and doesn't, so reading this book gave me a ton of information on how our body utilizes food and how it affects our brain's ability to produce chemicals and receive transmissions between nerves and such. It also made me realize that food and I shouldn't be enemies and food shouldn't be a "reward" or "punishment"...it is my fuel. It is what helps me think clearly, sleep soundly, have energy, control my anxiety and depression, and have everything I need to take care of my baby. I do also agree with @ladyshanny and what she said. We all need to show ourselves a little more compassion (I am up for any advise on how to do this myself...I struggle with this a lot). Do know that if you decide to make the decision to step back from the program and regroup, that you can always reach out to me to talk to. I know exactly how you feel and I want you to know that you are not alone in this. I wish I would have had a forum like this when I was actively struggling with my eating - please reach out if you need to.

    9 days in and frustrated

    This is my 5th or 6th W30 and I have noticed the same tummy issues and never had this much problem before. In my case, I think it was because I had gone so far off the healthy food train rails that my stomach seriously went into shock. I make sure that I keep drinking a ton of water and that seems to help.

    Who's starting 1/1?

    Holy Cow!!! Day 10 is almost over.... that is crazy. I can tell you all that I haven't been eating enough food. I know this because ever since I had my DS (dear son) when I don't eat enough I get super tired (which could also be from lack of sleep) brain foggy and dizzy. It's just so hard to get enough when I am running after an 11-month-old (in 4 days) and making sure he's not eating random stuff off the floor he shouldn't be. Any suggestions other mamas out there? I did pre-cook 3 extremely large sweet potatoes so that I can just dish out the helpings in the morning for my breakfast and cook the eggs (which are much quicker) - that has made a huge difference.

    Who's starting 1/1?

    Hello ladies! I started Jan 1 as well..This is my 5 or 6 time through, but the 1st I've done in over a year. Last year was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. I had a baby, (viktoriya my LO is 10 mos) lost a a beloved dog of 9 years unexpectedly, lost my mother, moved (and my mother and father in law have moved in with us in the mother-in-law suite in the basement) and have had some health concerns with my father-in-law and my father. My husband recently had a promotion at work which is great, except it has meant a lot of long hours and weekend work...which is not great. I am doing another round of Whole30 to re-establish a good relationship with food. This past year I have pretty much been eating what is in front of me, partially bc I didn't make the time to cook healthy meals, and partially because when I was given a chance to eat, shower or sleep, I most always chose sleep (thus continuing the cycle of not eating well). In Sept I started developing Atopic dermatitis on my face, which I had experienced one other time but was able to take antibiotics to clear up. This time I haven't had that choice due to the fact that I am still breast feeding the LO. Needless to say, I have been on 3 separate creams and the areas are just NOW starting to clear up after 5 full days of being on Whole30. I had my suspicions that the dermatitis could be food related, but this will either confirm or dispel my theory. I started out eating sugary treats once in a while..and then it turned into "Oh, well, I'll just have this treat today and eat better tomorrow." Tomorrow started turning into next week, next week to next month... As someone who has been an anorexic twice, it is extremely important that when I get this lax in my relationship with food, it is only a matter of time before I start going down the dark path leading back to a very very bad place. So I am back! Welcome to all of you newbies - there will definitely be difficult days but the physical and mental rewards are amazing!

    Noticing More Acne

    Hey cbclear - I don't know exactly when it happened, but my skin has been clearing up amazingly this second half of the W30. Sometimes it's just the hormones just trying to figure out everything that can cause breakouts. Give it some time (which I know is horribly annoying), stick to the program and exfoliate.

    Noticing More Acne

    I am not a nutritionist nor a doctor, so I am just throwing this out there. I am wondering if since our hormones are affected by the food we eat and hormones can influence acne breakouts, that if your hormones are still in flux and settling, if that is causing some of the breakouts. I am on day 8 and have been noticing a bit more of a breakout for the last couple days as well. I have decreased my nut consumption since starting W30 and don't eat dried fruit at all. I have added some coconut milk to my food, but hardly any in the grand scheme of things. Mine could also be due to the fact that my period is scheduled to show up in less than a week... but it seems a bit different this time. Like I said, not a doctor or nutritionist, just throwing a hypothesis out there based on my own experiences with dairy (which caused HORRID acne for me) and what I have been reading in ISWF. Stay positive - I am with you on the acne sucks train. Keep me posted on if you figure anything out.
