  1. Hi! I did my first Whole30 back in September of 2015 and kept it going through November, although not as strict after the first 30 days. Since then, I've maintained a mostly whole30 style of eating, but recently I've gone way off track. After leaving a toxic marriage in 2015, ten months later I found myself in another toxic relationship which I just left a week and a half ago. So I'm pretty emotionally drained! I know I have a lot of work to do on many levels! I know that doing another Whole30 will be so beneficial for my body obviously, but also for my mind. I'm very addicted to chocolate right now and I'm overdoing it with cheese! Thankfully, I'm still avoiding gluten, legumes, corn, soy, and most of the other culprits! But I'm totally addicted to chocolate, and the cheese is so convenient. I think it's the sweet and salty that I keep reaching for. Also, when I was with my ex boyfriend, I drank a lot of alcohol (influenced by him), which I rarely do. One glass of wine once in a while is the most I ever do. One night I had 5 gin and tonics! It was a toxic relationship in many ways! I just need to gather up the courage and resolve to do another round and possibly keep it going for more than 30 days. I need some support and encouragement! The forum was so helpful last time and I plan on reading through it again and getting back on track!! Thank you!

    I'm ready. Start Feb. 8th

How was everyone's day 1 and 2? I had strong cravings for gluten free pancakes (with chocolate!) both days but I didn't give in and I noticed the craving would just disappear! I was also unprepared for this round, but I'm keeping it basic until I get the inspiration to throw in some new ideas

Hi guys! I did my first Whole30 a few months ago in September. I kept it going for another month after that, but not as strict as the first round. I had great results and since then, people have been telling me I look great and that they can see a difference in me! I still have things I want to achieve: especially trimming down on the belly fat! I mainly want to do it so I can feel comfortable in my clothes and feel confident, but I also know that belly fat is tied to lots of other health issues. I've gotten off track with the holidays and having my cousin visiting from Greece. We had so much fun, but I stopped exercising completely while she was here and I consumed a good amount of wine and sweets! I want to do another Whole30 but I feel overwhelmed, even though I know how good the outcome will be. I also have issues with depression. I was diagnosed many years ago and I've been handling it in my own ways for a long time. But recently it hasn't been that easy to deal with! I think cleaning up my diet and exercising regularly again will give me a boost. I also want to look into supplements and other things I can do that will help with the depression. Doing the Whole30 helped me get through a rough time, and I need to gather up the courage to do it again! I just need some encouragement

Thank you guys so much for these awesome replies! Every reply was very helpful and very appreciated! I also feel inspired to reread the posts I made back in September and October where I got lots of inspiration. And I also like the idea of one Whole 30 meal at a time, which was helpful in the past. Thank you again!
  11. Hi guys! My dad has seen how well I'm doing, and he's interested in making improvements in his life, too. He's 75 years old, but very young at heart and full of life! However, he has had diabetes for years and he's on medication for it. His doctor wants to put him on another medication but he said it has crazy side effects and is very expensive. I told him about some components of the Whole30 and he even started reading It Starts With Food, but I'm nervous about him making such a drastic change to his eating habits. He eats pretty well, but he eats bread, cheese, cereal, drinks red wine every night... What can I suggest for him? He is really open to making changes, but I feel like he needs guidance and supervision, especially with his medication. What should I do? I'm worried about him! He was so upset after seeing his doctor today... Thanks! Me and my dad: He's from Greece, by the way!

How can I help my 75 year old diabetic dad?

Thank you jmcbn! And about how much per meal? Like 1/4 cup? Less? I am so proud of him and so happy!

How can I help my 75 year old diabetic dad?

Hey guys, My dad is doing great and he has made lots of changes to his diet. His numbers are better and he's working with his doctor to hopefully get off the medication completely or just cut down to one. A question I have is about sweet potatoes and other starchy vegetables. How much can he have? Should he not have any starchy veggies at all? And should he have them at every meal? Thank you so much!!

    My Whole30 results!!

I completed my Whole30 in spite of having a cold (and other challenges) in the middle of it! I decided to take "after" pictures anyway, even though I didn't think I made as much progress as I wanted, and I knew I had a few mishaps along the way...but I'm glad I did because I'm pleasantly astounded by the difference I can see in the pictures! I weighed myself again today (which is actually Day 33 because I've been keeping it going!) and I've lost 10 pounds since I started! I also lost an inch from my belly area, my waist, and each thigh!! I'm absolutely going to continue eating this way, whether I count the days or not, because I feel so amazing! I don't want to go back to the old (miserable!) me! I still have progress to make, but these pictures are so encouraging!! I also worked out today for the first time in about a year and it was great!! Last year when I was working out, my heart would start pounding really strongly so I had to keep stopping. Today, my heart did not pound like that at all!! It felt totally normal and I felt really good! I actually felt like I could have done more, but I didn't want to over do it! So here are my pictures: They were both taken on the same days, but the second one is just with a sports bra, and you can see the difference in the belly area more! And oh my gosh, look at how different my face looks! I am so grateful!!!!!

  17. Hi guys, I had such a great experience with my first round (it wasn't easy but the results and non scale victories were great!) and I've been keeping to the Whole30 template for the most part, except for days when I want to reintroduce something. And I'm also having 1/4 tsp of honey in my tea a couple of times a week. I had an emotionally challenging couple of weeks and I'm having a hard time bouncing back. I want to start fresh and do another round but I'm making excuses and I even had two homemade by my coworker gluten free cookies just now! The last time I had chocolate or sweets was two months ago! Knowing myself, I might go off the deep end and just have more cookies!! Help!

Thank you!! This community is amazing... Jmcbn's comment really snapped me back into thinking straight, and MeadowLily writes with such clarity and heart that I am automatically moved and inspired! I am incredibly grateful for the whole30 community!

Need to bounce back from a setback

MeadowLily, I love everything you said. You're an amazing human! Thank you!! After that happened with the cookies, I had lunch break and ate my filet mignon, kale, and butternut squash leftovers and I felt like I was right back on my path again. Just a tiny detour with those not even worth it cookies! Thank you guys for the most amazing support!!
