Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hey everyone!! I don't know why but for some reason I stopped getting emails about replies to this thread so I've been really out of touch. Hey guess what?! IT'S OVER AND WE DID IT!! How did it go for everyone? I'm so proud of what I accomplished and I look pretty darn good. Weighed myself today and I'm 13 lbs lighter than I was 31 days ago. That's such an insane transformation for me. This is the beginning of a whole new life. How did we all do?!?!

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hey everyone! I love all the action on here lately. Thanks for being an active community of support. It really makes me feel good to know that we can update each other here on our progress. senseofsnow - I'm sorry to hear that you fell off the wagon. Who here can't understand stress eating? I'm proud of you for starting over, though. What a tough decision that must have been to make. I'm glad you're on this journey! better#13stronger - I'm following you on Instagram now! I'm excited to see lots of your food and deliciousness. I totally hear you about Day 31. My Day 31 falls on the ONLY day that my boyfriend and I have together to nibble on Christmas-y things together before he leaves town for three weeks, so I'm hoping that we can have small portions of regular favorites, mixed in with new, healthy favorites. After that I'm a little anxious about being strong/smart enough with my food choices to keep the cool, healthy lifestyle I have going on. Luckily there's a whole30 guide for getting back into the real world. And I'm not sure if I'm feeling tiger blood yet. I cried yesterday because I got super hungry and I thought that this food by my office was compliant but it is NOT. I found a couple of (non-whole30 forum) articles about Moe's Southwest Grill that claimed it was compliant, but it's not. So I got my hopes up yesterday that I would get to eat fast food from somewhere with ingredients and stuff that I haven't gotten to eat lately, but nope! So, for the record, Moe's Southwest Grill is NOT WHOLE30 COMPLIANT (haha). They cook all of their protein in soybean oil, and the ground beef is the only exception to that....but for some reason it contains milk (ew?). Thanks for sharing recipes/ideas, zimmerak. Switching up the recipes is definitely the key to making this thing work without getting bored or feeling too deprived.

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

How's everyone doing?? We are really getting close now... over the halfway point and edging closer and closer to 30. I had a dream last night that I accidentally ate 2 donuts without realizing and had to start all over. SO frustrating. I woke up and realized that I didn't do it, but I've felt guilty all day. Perhaps I miss my Dunkin runs just a liiiiiittle bit? I am trying all new food this week to keep things going and to keep being excited about this. I'm kinda down about the work parties I'm going to go to and the wine I won't be able to have. Oh well. Changing your life is more important than free wine...right? zimmerak how did your food plan work out? Are you keeping up alright?

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hey everyone! Congrats zimmerak and better#13stronger on your successful Thanksgiving meals and days. I feel you about wine -- I kind of wanted to throw a tantrum when the wine and pie were being passed around, because I wanted a taste of the chocolate and the whipped cream, and I wanted the warm buzz of a delicious glass of wine. But hey. You know what? We got through. And we are stronger because of it! I'd argue that nothing can change our relationship w/food as much as getting through a holiday of temptations! Right? Do you guys have any fruit? I've been having it in little servings here and there. Yesterday I did Black Friday and had to eat a salad with grilled chicken (thank god) at the mall, and I got a little side bowl of fruit. Grapes taste like candy now that I haven't had sugar in 15 days!! It's incredible. Also, my clothes are fitting a lot better, and it felt really good to be able to try on some clothes yesterday without hating my body and consequently myself. Yay progress!

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

We are on Day 11!! Look at us. zimmerak I have read mixed reviews for the cauliflower rice and was looking forward to your review. Thanks for sharing. You mentioned cravings... I haven't actually had a craving since we started this thing. My appetite/love to eat all the time is slowly disappearing. I really enjoy eating when I'm doing it, but I don't really feel hungry or crave food anymore. I did get a little teary-eyed over some limited edition beer that I ran into yesterday (salted caramel coffee stout; you've got to be kidding me), but otherwise I haven't really desired anything in a while. I am already fearing being off of the Whole30 because I'm scared that I'm going to gain all the weight back and go straight back to midnight Ramen. But I trust the system and just have to know that it's going to work and that I'm strong enough to do this the healthy way and then make smart decisions about food when we're out.

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hey team! I had my first "eating all of the things" dream last night....brutal. I dreamed that I had a pint of beer at a bar, and then without realizing it, had consumed a giant bowl of mint ice cream. I actually started sobbing in my dream. "But I made it all the way to day 10!" I'm glad that wasn't real life. Happy day 11! We are more than 1/3 of the way through.

HEY TEAM!!! How's everyone doing?? Just a quick update would be great!! I see you zimmerak -- you're killing it. What's been good for you this week?

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA -- have been traveling since Wednesday. The Whole30 is so hard on the road, especially in airports. I was able to keep compliant though, and I feel awesome changes in the way my pants are fitting. It's getting easier and easier to glaze over any prepackaged food, which used to be my biggest downfall. Better#13Stronger -- so glad you're staying away from your scale! Make sure you don't step on it. Want to give it to a friend for safekeeping??

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hello team! I'm heading to the airport today and will be traveling from this afternoon until Saturday night. I'm nervous about how I'm going to find three good meals per day, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. I printed out all of the Whole30 PDFs and am going to carry them around relentlessly. Also - there's a Chipotle not far from my hotel, so I at least know I can get carnitas, lettuce, salsa, and guac there. It's not a bad meal! On another note, I'm helping to plan some of the side dishes at Thanksgiving at a friend's house this year. I had my terrifying text conversation with her today where I was like, "Uhhh so I'm doing a food challenge to reset my relationship with food, and I was wondering if I could bring some side dishes to contribute?" And she was super understanding! So I'm going to bring (at least) seared chicken, mashed cauliflower, and green beans. Hooray! One thing I'd love help with from a moderator is knowing how to make chicken broth without the whole bones process. If that's the only way, fine, I'll do it - but is there a better solution? Or a link to a conversation in the forum somewhere that I can read? Thanks! Here's to Day 5, team - we got this!

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

I ripped ALL of my jeans over the past year!! Then I went to Gap and bought the jeans/leggings... and while I do think they are a Godsend, I'll admit that the main reason I bought them is because I was tired of fighting buttons and feeling them dig into me all day. SO OVER IT. Thanks for sharing this story... I so feel you!

Guys, I'm nervous about Thanksgiving so I've been reading up on things: http://whole30.com/2014/11/dear-melissa-whole30-holiday-strategy/?utm_source=Wholesome&utm_campaign=b0df9baf92-Wholesome_29_11_16_15&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c2c05c4139-b0df9baf92-311662873 and http://whole30.com/2012/10/holiday-whole30/?utm_source=Wholesome&utm_campaign=b0df9baf92-Wholesome_29_11_16_15&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c2c05c4139-b0df9baf92-311662873 Anyway, back to work now. I haven't snacked yet but I'm so tempted....

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

FindingNemo - I definitely had to snack a little the first couple of days, but today (Day 4) I feel a lot better after my breakfast. It's hard to make a big breakfast with protein, veggies AND fat, but I did it today and I don't regret it at all. I'm almost ready to head into lunch, which I'm choosing to do because I'm getting hungry. Who knew - your body tells you when to eat! (not being sarcastic, I've just never really listened before) Better#13Stronger - how are you doing today at work sans home time? Coconut in my coffee this morning was just....amazing. I'm so excited about that as an option.

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hey Better#13Stronger! Congrats on all your work and meal prep. I think that helps a ton. It's funny you say that you think you'll have a harder time in the real world than at home.. I have the opposite problem. I used to just eat and eat at home because all that food was just...sitting there. Being at work helps a bit, but then I'm sitting at my desk, like, where are my chips at! I actually feel like Saturday was my combo hangover + kill all the things day. I'm really SUPER bloated though and have been since yesterday. My stomach is absolutely huge right now... I guess my body has not yet gotten the cue to actually start digesting fat, so it's just holding onto all of it. I've started to chronicle this journey. Feel free to follow or comment if you have any similar experiences: www.whiskintoshape.wordpress.com I don't want to overshare on here, so I'm oversharing there! haha Last thing: I went for a run this morning and it was terrible. It was a short one, too, compared to the 6 miles I did on Saturday. Yikes! Looking forward to getting through this physically sluggish phase.

Day 1 today (11/13) and looking for some team mates!

Hey everyone! Looks like we have quite the team going right now. I'm at the end of Day 2 and I'm feeling good. It's crazy how much clearer I've felt waking up the past two days. We'll see if that lasts when I wake up for my run tomorrow morning while it's dark outside and I'm angry that I can't have cream in my coffee. Just so I'm keeping track, our team is made up of: zimmerak Better#13stronger Wendy Riley Jess in the UK senseofsnow My actual name is Katrina, so feel free to call me that while we're on here. How are you all doing?
