  1. So I wasn't sure what forum to post this in, hopefully this is okay. To give you a little backstory, I've been yo-yo dieting for about 8 years. Always going from healthy/restricting for a few months to bringing and eating anything I want for a few months. I've done 4-5 rounds of Whole30 over the past 2 years and haven't been too bad in between rounds, but this past season for me was pretty stressful and I went back to old ways of binging and eating a lot of crap. I always knew my hormones were kinda off because it's always been so hard for me to lose weight and so easy to gain it. Plus I deal with a lot of depression and anxiety, which eases up when I'm eating healthy, so I think it's gut related. But this past season of eating terribly has showed me how damaged my gut and hormones are right now. I gained about 15lbs in 2-3 months, which is a lot for me. Ive also been feeing really dizzy and have been getting terrible brain fog, to where I feel a little bit drunk all day and can't focus on anything. I've also felt extremely fatigued for the past year, to where I can only leave my house for a few hours before I feel like I need to go home and nap. One more thing is that I've had terrible poops for the past 3 months. Runny/liquid-y poops that make me have stomach cramps and that never feel satisfying. I can't remember the last time I had a satisfying poop, sadly! In the past Whole30 has seemed to help a little bit, but I've never stuck with it strictly for an extended period of time to see if my symptoms completely went away. So, I've decided I need to heal my body and I know that takes time. I'm ready to commit to eating strictly for a long time to give my body time to do that. I guess my main question is how long does it typically take to fully heal your gut and get your hormones balanced? I guess I just want to mentally prepare for how long it'll be. I will mainly stick to a Paleo life after I feel balanced out and back to normal, with the occasional foods I think are worth it. But I feel as if I need to be strict right now and find Food Freedom once I'm better. A second the extreme brain fog and dizziness something I should be worried about or does that seem like a typical gut/hormone problem? I've never experienced this until a few months ago and it just feels so terrible and I'm wondering if that's something I should have checked out or will probably just go away. Thanks! Sorry for the book!
  2. Headaches and Poop

I started taking the cod liver oil around day 20-25, I think. And I'm eating at least a whole avocado every day. Good to know about constipation causing headaches! I didn't know that. I've also been feeling very tired the past week or so...something in my gut must be funky right now.
  3. Headaches and Poop

I'm drinking a lot of water! About 90oz a day. Yes, salting my food generously. My sleep is pretty good. I sleep 7-9 hours a night, but not sure I feel totally rested when I wake up. I'll try cutting out the potatoes completely for now! The only activity I do is a daily walk, so I'm not sure I really even need the carbs.
  4. Headaches and Poop

What a fun topic to talk about, huh? I have been doing Whole30 for 48 days now. After day 30, I stayed mostly Whole30 but ate a few things here or there that weren't compliant. Anyway, throughout the whole 48 days, I have woken up with a slight headache every day and it never really seems to go away. Also, my poop is the worst. I only poop every 2-3 days and when I do, it's a small amount and very squishy and hard to get out. Before starting Whole30, I knew my gut was messed up. I was depressed and anxious most of the time and I felt bloated and just messed up on the inside. I'm wondering if I need to make any changes to my diet going forward to feel amazing. Or if I just need to do another strict round and stop having the occasional treat until I'm finally healed. Any tips would be appreciated! Here's a list of what I eat everyday. Oh, and I realized that I have been eating way too many potatoes so I'm going to try to cut back and replace them with veggies. If you think that's the problem, I'd love to know so I can be sure to keep cutting them out. Breakfast: Typically 3 eggs, either some pulled pork or bacon, half an avocado, sauerkraut or kale coleslaw on the side. Probably could do better about adding more veggies here. Used to add in about 2 small red potatoes but have cut those out for now. Lunch: A can of tuna with homemade mayo, pumpkin seeds, half an apple, spinach. Sometimes using plantain chips to dip with them. Other days I'll make BLT lettuce wraps with turkey lunch meat, tomato, lettuce, mayo, bacon, avocado. Sometimes with chips on the side (baked in avocado oil). Dinner: Chicken breast or pulled pork, green beans/kale coleslaw/brussel sprouts/broccoli/cauliflower, potatoes, mayo or avocado as a side. Sometimes we'll do chicken curry over a baked potato. Sometimes a soup which has potatoes/ground beef/kale. Dinner is always something different every night, so it's hard to list every meal we make, but I always try to make sure there's a meat, potato, veggie and fat. Also: taking magnesium supplements, cod liver oil supplements, a "hair and nail" health supplement from whole foods that is compliant, drinking kombucha every day. Rarely I drink coffee, but I do drink tea every day. I have done 2 rounds of Whole30 in the past and I remember feeling much better than this round. Plus in my last 2 rounds combined, I lost 15lbs (and have since gained it back), but in this past round, I only lost 3-4 lbs. I just feel like something is off and would love your thoughts! Thanks!!
  5. roadtrip ideas!

so in a few weeks i am helping my sister move from michigan to california. i am flying from california to chicago where she is picking me up and then we're driving the rest of the way together. i just started my 3rd round of whole30 and i am trying to think of what i can pack and eat that'll keep me full and have enough energy to help her drive. the sucky thing is that since i'm flying out, i won't be able to make things at home first and pack them. so we're going to have to stop at a grocery store and pick me up some stuff and i won't be able to cook anything since we'll be in the car. any ideas? i am already kinda panicking because i know when i eat cold food all day i don't feel as full and i just feel constantly hungry all day. stopping to go out to eat is kinda unlikely. since we'll be driving 12-14 hour days we won't have time to sit down at a restaurant for an hour and get a steak or burger without a bun or something. fast food is probably the only thing we'll have time for. thanks!
  6. no poops!!!!

oops here's the photo of my food log. obviously some days aren't perfect because I travel and camp a lot and it's the only option I have for those certain days.
  7. no poops!!!!

I attached a photo of my food log so far. as far as portion sizes go, meat is standard palm size portions and I fill my plate up with veggies. water is hard to really know. I carry a 500ml water bottle with me everywhere and fill it multiple times a day. probably 5-7 times a day I refill it. I never had poops every single day before whole30, but my poops definitely decreased when starting whole30. before whole30 it was about every other day or so.
  8. no poops!!!!

this is my first topic here and it's about poop :-) I'm on day 46 of doing the whole30 and I am still finding I'm not pooping very much. it's typically every 3-4 days and I am really wishing it was every day. I try to follow the meal template as much as possible and am eating plenty of fat, drinking lots of water, taking 2 magnesium pills a day, etc. I have written down everything I've eaten every single day since I started so I can post that if need be. thanks!!!
