    CALLING ALL JANUARY 1ST WHOLE30ERS!

Good for you mdraeger!!! I can relate to so much of what you say, especially in regard to wine. I have used this, my 1st W30, as a way to gain better self-control for the long-haul, particularly in regard to alcohol and cheese. I am on Day 29 by the way. It's been so good for me, both physically and emotionally. I appreciate your open, vulnerable disclosures.

    CALLING ALL JANUARY 1ST WHOLE30ERS!

I haven't had coconut butter... not even sure where to get that??? So I have also had people comment on my skin, and then I read about how good ghee is for your skin... must be that cuz I eat it every day. I've done pretty well with the no alcohol, surprisingly well actually, but a real challenge will be this Friday night when there's a surprise bday party for my step-daughter... Sushi and lots of drinking!!! I will bring my Pelligrino and limes, and something I can eat (don't like sushi without the rice etc) I feel like my clothes are getting a little looser, maybe. My best friend said I look "leaner" so that's nice, but I do need to drop 30 lbs over the next year or so... I'm certain I will only lose 8-10 lbs on this W30, and YES I know this isn't about weight loss but a little drop would be nice!

Day 17 done. Loving this W30 plan! Made the pot roast recipe from W30 book today and it was delicious!!! And I can't believe I never had GHEE before this plan! I absolutely love it, and plan to permanently replace butter with ghee. One more thing I noticed today... I'm not even thinking about wine and cheese anymore... that sure is nice

    CALLING ALL JANUARY 1ST WHOLE30ERS!

Hi there my friends! Day 12 for me. Going strong, even though it's "that time" for me... a little hungrier than usual and letting myself eat a little more. I'm not a sugar junkie, but I always crave chocolate during the first two days. I had my hubby hide the butterfinger cups leftover from Christmas because they are just too tempting!!!! So something AMAZING is happening to my body. I have had chronic shoulder and neck pain since 2005 (probably old gymnastics injuries) due to stenosis, bulging disks, degenerative disk disease blah blah blah in my C3-C7. Anyway, I live with it and don't use pain meds or anything. I go to massage about 1-2 times per month. Yesterday, I had my first massage since starting my W30... my massage therapist couldn't believe the difference in my body... she said it was like working on a different body!!! My muscles are much less tense and she found WAY less issues that needed work. And she couldn't believe the difference in my skin. She said she can't wait to see the differences in 2 more weeks. I felt so validated for what I've been doing with this W30!!! My pain was worse the first few days, but now I can honestly say my pain level has improved 60-70 percent... it is truly remarkable. I guess this W30 plan REALLY DOES reduce systemic inflammation because my body is loving it

I may try to find out about the seasoning and oils etc today. I remembered that a client's son works at this restaurant, so I may seek out more info. I can tell you however, barring some horrid reaction from my body, I do not want to start over. I know I know... this probably goes against the purest form of W30 I understand where you are coming from, and I will think about it. For now, I am just not going to eat out because I can control things so much better at home (and don't mind being extremely rigid with choices at home!). I appreciate your thoughts and comments. Will keep you posted. Have a great day

    CALLING ALL JANUARY 1ST WHOLE30ERS!

1st Dining Out Experience, Day 9. Had Club Soda with Lime (instead of wine or martini). Brought my own W30 compliant salad dressing (and it was actually pretty yummy). Had the hamburger steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions (I usually have this with cheese and the foccacia bread that comes with it). No, I didn't ask if the beef was from grass-fed cows... No, I didn't ask what was in the seasoning on the meat... No, I didn't ask what was in the mushroom and onion sautee. I felt I was as cautious as I wanted to be. Yea, I could be that person that asks if there is sugar in the meat seasoning (and have it plain) or butter used in the mush/onion sautee (and not have the sautee)... the thing is that I don't feel comfortable being that rigid when I'm dining out (which I do very rarely anyway). I am certainly not judging people that do adhere that closely to the plan when dining out, it's just that I know I won't ever want to do that. Did I mention I had the "salad" as my side dish? I usually have the parmesan-cilantro garlic fries with ranch dressing... and I'm telling you they are to DIE FOR!!! Two of my friends sat right next to and across from me and ate those parmesan garlic fries (they smelled soooooooo good)... I didn't even ask for a single one. For the record, I have NOT cheated one little bit on my W30... perhaps I got a bit of sugar in the meat seasoning or a little butter in my sautee tonight... I'm okay with that. I am pretty proud of myself for the DRASTIC changes I have made and continue to make in my food and drink consumption during this W30 challenge. I know myself well enough to know that, if I get freakishly rigid, I will completely swing the other way when my W30 is accomplished. Instead, I want to incorporate the long-term, life-changing aspects of the W30. I found myself thinking tonight at dinner "Wow this hamburger steak tastes really delicious even without the cheese... I'm so full I didn't even miss the bread... I am laughing and having a great time with my friends and I didn't even have any wine... my dinner was great and I didn't have THE garlic fries..." You get the idea. Maybe some of this sounds ridiculous to people with much better habits than me, but these are important discoveries for me right now. Soooo, I'm feeling strong and I'm feeling good. Most importantly, I'm feeling empowered and in control... it's nice To all of you that stay current on this forum, thanks for listening. Thank you for your support. We ARE doing this!!!

Hi there Winston!! Welcome to the forum. I am just a member, not a moderator or anything. I'm on Day 8 of my first W30. Just an FYI, the first few days were the hardest for me, but it started getting a lot easier for me around day 5... I'm sure it's different for everyone. I am glad you are on the forum because the support is incredibly helpful, especially from individuals that have done this before and know what to expect. Let fellow W30'ers support you. Stick with it even when it gets hard... it's already been worth it for me and as I said I'm only on Day 8! I wish you good choices in the coming week!

    CALLING ALL JANUARY 1ST WHOLE30ERS!

Day 8. One Whole30 week accomplished!!! I was going to say One Whole30 week "done," but it didn't just "happen"... I made a decision to stick with this plan, and I have made precise choices every day for the past week. Haven't cheated at all, feeling great, not feeling deprived, eating plenty of yummy food, AND SLEEP HAS FINALLY IMPROVED Slept great the last 2 nights. Falling asleep much quicker and staying asleep all night yippee!!! Because I am feeling so great, I am already thinking about post-W30 and what that might look like for me... It helps me to process things for a while and gradually "build up" to making big decisions in my life. At this point, I envision a diet that looks very similar to W30 eating, but will likely incorporate mild to moderate cheese consumption (which is much less than I used to eat!) and maybe occasional wine/alcohol consumption. Just thinking and researching some for now. I probably sound like my entire life revolves around what I eat and drink, and it has been that way this past week due to acclimating to a new way of eating, but my life is actually quite fulfilling in numerous ways that have nothing to do with my diet. I am guessing all of us W30'ers tend to get hyper-focused on diet during the initial phases of W30, otherwise how would we be successful? We are just getting more "mindFUL" and less "mindLESS." I want to thank everyone that utilizes this forum because it has been and continues to be so helpful to me in my journey. I wish everyone a wonderful week to come....

I agree regarding having a "special drink" in place of wine... I read somewhere on this forum that a lady has pelligrino with a squeeze of lime as her special treat in the evenings. So, every evening when my hubby is having his wine, I pour my pelligrino in a wine glass and say "cheers!"... it has helped me a lot.

Zuppa Toscana is one of my favorite soup recipes, but I didn't know I could have it on W30??? I guess if we put our W30 compliant homemade sausage in it and substitute something for the whole cream (what did you use?), we could have it Let me know what you used for cream substitution and maybe I can make it this weekend yay!

Well hi there Nova Scotia!!! (I know your screen name is greenhm, but "Nova Scotia" sounds pretty cool). Congrats on Day 8! I'm on Day 7 now. Had the best night's sleep I've had since I started, and feeling very grateful for that. Anyway, very nice to meet you.
