I have no idea how much weight I lost (didn't weigh myself before starting) but just finished my 2nd round and feel great.   Would love to continue this journey and see what it feels like to stick with a healthy LIFEstyle and not continue to yo yo my weight all over the map.   Congrats, everyone!

I also hopped on the scale this morning. 10 lbs down! Very happy with this W30 experience and celebrated with a La Croix flavor I haven't tried before

    Congrats to the 1/4/16 group!

    I can't believe I did this...I actually made it!

I lost 13 lbs! I didn't measure before but I am definitely doing that next time. I feel great but my clothes don't feel looser but I will trust the scale.
I saw someone was doing a Whole 30 for Lent. I think I will test out some non-gluten grains and dairy in the next week, but then do the Lent one.

    Congrats everyone!

Hi! This was my first W30 and I am so happy to have finished without giving up! The road was a little bumpy, I did have some slip ups along the way (hidden sugar and possibly dairy snuck in a few times and I wasn't as diligent about keeping to regular mealtimes toward the end), but I chose to keep on truckin' and, thankfully, still felt some great effects and learned a lot! Plus, I lost 9+ lbs and 5" off my waist! Woot! Now I just need to contact my Doc to see if I can get my cholesterol retested to see if it went down a bit.

I guess I'm doing a modified version of the regular reintroduction, but probably only choosing one ingredient per category (i.e. only garbanzos this time around, then maybe try black beans at a later date). That may change as I proceed, but the reason I'd like to do it that way is because I'd really like to know which food of each category I am safe to eat, rather than just ruling out ALL legumes, for example. I may be doing it in vein, but there are a few foods I really would like to reintroduce into a semi-regular rotation, and others I can probably do without, so I'm crossing my fingers that not all legumes are created equal! LOL

I thought he fast track was the slow track. I went back and looked at the book again and realized that it's the fast track I want. Tomorrow is day 30, and I plan on waiting until Thursday to have a glass of wine with my boyfriend. I think I'm going to follow the fast track to a T, introducing the recommended foods on the recommended days.
Last night I decided to have an apple with some almond butter. This is the first time I've eaten those two together since starting. My sugar dragon was raging afterwards. I wanted chocolate, wine, and pasta. Instead I brushed & flossed, watched my tv show and got ready for bed. I was surprised, fruit hasn't really been having that effect on me but I guess the combination was just too much.

Wow lori_vt those meals sound amazing! It's good to know everyone's experiences are different and you're right, we are closer to the end than we are the beginning. I know some effects take longer for some people, which is why I plan on making an effort to keep eating this way for the most part after the 30 days and reintroduction period are over.

I just heard a nutritionist on the radio talking about Winter and how it impacts our systems, depending on where you live...pretty much said our bodies are trying to prepare for winter by trying to store extra weight/fat for the winter months and that we are fighting ourselves when we are trying to "diet" in these months...not sure how accurate it is but maybe part of some of your problems where you feel "bla"......also, check your Vitamin D, I always have a deficiency in these months, that can play a role in your mood as well.

Ugh, that sucks! Some people have suggested a magnesium supplement for sounder sleep. My body feels pretty good, but it hasn't changed one bit either which is a little discouraging. I'm trying to just keep in mind that that's not the point of the whole30. Also, the emails and the book are saying that this is around the time the magic usually starts and that people report feeling strangely happy. That was one of the benefits that I was hoping to experience, a shift in mood. I'm not overly cranky or anything, but I'm not strangely happy and have even been feeling really down yesterday and today. Of course something like that could be due to external factors. I just keep reminding myself there are still a few more weeks left to go, give it time.

I just realized that I haven't had heart burn since starting the whole30. I have never been a chronic sufferer of heart burn, but I would get it on a pretty regular basis and find myself eating Rolaids or tums. Or if I knew it was coming, I would take a Pepcid. sometimes certain foods would trigger it, sometimes it would just occurr randomly, or seemed random anyway. It was probably all the added sugar and preservatives, not to mention alcohol. Green bell peppers would often do it, and I haven't tried them since starting whole30 but maybe I will.

If anyone has an Aldi near them, I found compliant smoked salmon there last night. $3.49 for a 3 ounce package and the only ingredients are salmon and salt.

Cbg- what a great alternative to drinking. I bet at this point, wine wouldn't even taste the same as it used to. It is so easy to drink and eat casually when you're working in a restaurant. Everyone is going out for drinks after work, sure why not? Dead fries in the food window? Ok! Oh that dessert was made by accident? Pass it over! Lol. Good for you for sticking with the plan. I know sometimes when you've been working somewhere for awhile, all the food starts to get boring and when you have been around it all day, nothing looks appetizing anymore but you eat there anyway because it's easy and you're hungry. Or the opposite- you're so over it that you just lose your appetite and don't eat anything. At least that was always my experience. Seems to me you had a NSV day yesterday

Lazy bones -I hope that cold goes away soon, and im soo glad that you didn't let yourself quit!
I had a terrible dream last night that I had a few drinks (I don't even know what they were but I clearly didn't even enjoy them even in my dream.) When I woke up the next day in the dream I felt guilty for drinking and annoyed to be back at day 1. I was thinking "I didn't even have fun last night, why did I do that?) Which is kind of funny. I work in 2 restaurants and am constantly around alcohol. Old me drank pretty much every day just because. Someone would say "hey if you work tonight I'll buy you a margarita", or a table would ask me to do a shot with them or we would get in new wine that I wanted to try. But in the past 2 weeks I haven't missed it at all or even thought much about it. Until today. I worked 11 to 430 at one job that was crazy busy then went straight to the other job (shoving chicken salad in my mouth on the drive) and am about to get off around 10. Yea my feet hurt, my back hurts and wine sounds really good. For a split second I almost thought "oh I could just have 2 glasses, and get right back to it tomorrow" but I know it doesn't work that way. I know that if I did that I wouldn't even enjoy the wine, because the second it hit my lips I would be disappointed in myself. I reminded myself how incredible I have been feeling. I reminded myself why I am doing this, and my reasons are far more important than any glass of wine could ever be. So,I'm going to draw a nice hot bubble bath, find the cheesiest chic lit to put on my kindle and lay in the tub with my favorite la Croix. That sounds much more relaxing than drinking what would inevitably turn in to a bottle of wine and being fuzzy all day tomorrow doesn't it?!

Uggghhhh - dumped a can of tomato sauce from the back of the cupboard into my dinner on the stove, only to then realize that it had sugar in it! So frustrating because I'm down to my last few things before shopping. I ended up making tuna salad instead and boxing up the other food to freeze and eat after Day 30.
I'm glad I discovered the problem before I started eating - it would have sucked to be derailed by something so lame. Heading to the grocery store shortly to get my ingredients for the next few days - including tomato sauce without sugar!

I have been having stomach problems (slow digestion) for a long time which is a big reason why I wanted to do the w30. Ive always noticed that when my diet is better (especially if I cut out cheese), my problems seem to go away, but I always go back to my old bad eating habits. So far during the w30 my problems have improved but are still not 100%. I'm hoping it's just one of those things that takes time. It's only day 11, I'm sure over the next 20 days you and I will both see more improvement.

I forgot about magnesium!! Now that you say that I remember reading about it in the w30 book. I used to have some magnesium powder that a friend had given me and it did help with both sleep and bathroom issues. Thanks for posting that.

Good for you CBG!! So glad you are feeling amazing!! Yesterday I had a seven hour window between lunch and dinner, and somehow I wasn't starving! Didn't even need a snack I was hungry but not famished. that made me feel pretty good.
And I agree the days are flying by!

I understand this also. Yesterday afternoon for no reason, I wanted a beer. I didn't have a bad day or anything, just kept thinking I would have a beer when I got home from work then quickly remembered I can't. I had some club soda with lemon which helped. Maybe I just needed the bubbles. My boyfriend was over, and I told him I didn't feel like thinking about dinner so I was just gonna have eggs. I had an errand to run first, and he requested that I pick up some spinach, tomato and ricotta cheese for an omelette. (Those are our favorite toppings when we order white pizza, and he's not doing W30 so he can have the cheese.) I didn't miss the ricotta, but it was hard not to automatically lick the spoon that I used for putting the cheese in his omelette. And i had to deliberately remind myself to use separate spatulas so his cheese wouldn't get on my eggs.
This weekend I have to make a chocolate cake with chocolate icing for my friends daughter, and not do any taste testing! I'm seriously thinking about getting some of those surgical-type masks that people wear when they're painting or around other fumes. I'm pretty sure I have the willpower (I had to bake a cheesecake this week and didn't do any taste testing) but I don't know for sure...
