whatmeworry got a reaction from Chae.19 in Super emotional, Day 16
I went through a few days of very high emotion -- for me it felt like a lot of "stuff" I had been avoiding by using food and wine as rewards or comfort all came out. It all came out, really. Ordinary conversations made me cry. I did not get a lot of anger, but I certainly felt vulnerable and sad for a while.  It helped to reach out to a friend, my sister, and weirdly enough my trainer (although it was an emotional meeting!). I'm feeling much more on track now and enjoying great evenness.

Once we are not making ourselves feel better with food and drink, maybe we just don't feel great until we find another way to feel better. That seems super simple, but it has been pretty simple for me over the past couple of weeks. It happened, and it's now going away. Hope it happens for you too!

I had problems with avocados and any overdoing on eggs - and tea of any kind. See if you can figure out what sets it off. Generally eat a bit lighter if you are not young and super active.

Re-introduced Organic Firm Tofu last night with steamed mushrooms, potatoes , broccoli and cauliflower with melted ghee and curry ! YUM .  And my tummy likes it !  This vegetarian is very happy to have tofu again !  NOT happy about too much wine the night before. Realizing that "gotta have wine" is just a myth I tell myself. A glass now and then is nice but using it as a "reward" for "long-suffering" is SO counterproductive. Working on my relationship with all these things. Whole30 is such a great template for "doing the work" .

Hi all --  started on Friday, my first W30, and will be turning 62 on day 18. Hopefully will be feeling great by then! Yesterday and today have been sleeeeeepy, but this morning was better than yesterday. I don't really have much of a weight problem, just want to get the energy and clear thinking to help myself through the next few months of my job. It has been getting to be a total grind, and I have let it get me down and into bad habits. So off with them!

All right! I'm glad our group will have a new place to share. It has been really helpful.

Day 31, I decided to remain compliant, but have a couple of glasses of wine. It was delicious, but I don't feel like I want this every day, for sure. Next 2 days clean, and then I'll hit the lentils.

Love the images! I lost 4 pounds during my Whole30 but my clothes are hanging off me. I don't exercise particularly however my shape is really changed. Folks around me are astonished when they hear the number but see how I look. The number I'm most watching is the size of my clothes - getting smaller and smaller since I started this journey last year. Thanks for keeping us on track.
    Tomorrow- legumes. Onward!

Hi everyone! I couldn't resist and weighed/measured myself yesterday on Day 30 which wasn't great – I not only gained ~.5 lb, but my measurements haven't changed at all. That was definitely disappointing and derailed my reintroduction plans by going off-road while out to dinner with friends. There was wine, dairy and I'm sure other off-plan things in sauces/marinades. Not great. I did my best to minimize the damage by avoiding bread/gluten and listened carefully to my satiety signals and stopped eating when I felt full, but it wasn't great.

I'm definitely feeling some of the effects this morning and am thankful I have week of W30 meals already planned while I take stock and regroup The nice thing about this program is that even though I didn't get the results I was hoping for, it never feels like a waste of time. I ate delicious food and took a break from my 2+ glasses of wine a night habit. Moving forward, my primary focus will be on exercise (which is the biggest difference between this and previous W30's) and continue to work on feeding my body nutrient dense foods. I'm going to institute a "no drinking during the week" rule, limit the amount we have on weekends and generally drink for better reasons rather than "I had a bad day, give me all of the wine."

I feel pretty good about the plan moving forward and am thankful to this forum for keeping me company on this part of the journey. I hope everyone else is feeling good and finding their own versions of success.

Well, tomorrow is the magic #30. I am looking forward to my first lentils on Sunday. I have missed them more than anything else (well, maybe wine). I nice batch of red lentil curry soupy stuff that can be soup or sauce is the first thing I'll make! I like it with any meal, or over anything.

Three people told me how great I am looking this morning - they all mentioned skin, and one said I look younger every time she sees me (I'm 62!). It was rather embarrassing, but nice to hear. I do really feel good - and I have kind of re-defined tiger blood. I think I was so used to being cranked up on a kind of hyper energy (stress addict for sure!) that the even and good energy I have now seemed a bit of a let down. Here in these last few days I am saying good bye to that hyperness (and the crashes that followed) and enjoying getting a lot done while staying focussed and strong, but not flying around.

How amazing to be on Day 30 and remember how "extreme" this seemed at first. Now, totally normal.  I AM looking forward to far fewer eggs and finally back to some black beans and tofu in my diet !  (Oh yeh..and wine). But will re-introduce carefully.  Nice to have completed a second "vegetarian" whole30. This program is SO valuable for assessing one's diet and possible food sensitivities. I'm really glad we non-carnivores can get those benefits as well !
QUESTION:  Will anyone be continuing to post on this thread to share re-intro experiences ?
I would love to keep seeing how the next few weeks are going for everyone...

Day 28 done and dusted - it was a close shave for dinner. I had to go to a reception, knowing there would probably be nothing I would want to eat, but my plan to eat something before going was killed by a meeting that ran overtime. I was not terribly hungry, so it was not too bad, but an evening with circulating servers offering wine and delicious-looking finger food from sweet potato potstickers (I did not think that peeling off the outside would look too cool!) to little felafels with raita and some kind of artichoke and cheese thing - none of it was tempting! I did have two asparagus spears without dipping them in the sauce offered. They were just lightly steamed and delicious, so that and about a gallon of sparkling water had to hold me until I got home and beat the world record for making a veggies and squid green curry. It was wonderful.

I must say I am looking forward to that glass of wine on Sunday, but none of the off-plan foods have power!

Thank you so much for your reply. It really helps. I would usually eat more for breakfast, but I truly thought I was going to throw up, so went a little light. I feel like there's no way in Bejesus I could eat four eggs at one sitting? I'm 95kgs and 173cm, so on the bigger side, but that just sounds impossible?

The last 3 mornings have been 2-3 eggs (I only ate 3 eggs once, it felt like too much food). I have them with tomato, avocado, pesto and spinach. Usually accompanied by a coffee with ghee.

Lunch is dinner leftovers, so usually meets the meal template. So far this week we've had chicken/veges/kumara, fish/veges/kumara, and egplannt strata with salad and avocado last night/today at lunch.

Water is always a struggle for me, and I usually flavour it with stevia drops, so it's been harder than usual. But I'm getting at least 2 litres in (I know that's not enough, but see above).

At the end of the day, you're right, if I really wanted to quit I would have. I guess I'm just seeking reassurance that I won't feel this way for the next 26 days.

I haven't signed in for a while because I finished a Whole 60 and am keeping Whole 30 true in the house since.
I cannot stress how good I feel since THE whole 30 entered my life. I still don't crave sugar and it turns out I love to cook new recipes.
I used to live for sugar eating candy was a food group for me - now I enjoy fruit with my meals.
Think of the little engine that could....when you feel like quitting. Each day gets easier and before you know it is Day 30. Hang in there you will love yourself and really see a difference with your relationship with food.
And know everyone in this forum are here for you and rooting for you.

I agree with you 100%. you are right about how being on day 28 is so much different than day 3. in the end, you are the one rowing your whole 30 boat. if you don't think you should start over, then you shouldn't.
