    Happy day 30 everyone!

I weighed in this morning and lost 10 pounds. I'm so happy! More importantly, I feel better (and lighter).

I'm really going to try to stick with a whole30-esque diet for as long as possible, but looking forward to not having to read every single label.

You've got this! You've come so far - and next week will roll around soon enough - imagine how you'll feel upon completion versus arriving at day 31 - and knowing that if you had just stuck with it, you'd be finished!
Don't give up, you've already put the toughest days in, this is like rolling up to the finish line. Look at recipes, get creative.
Don't give up, you're worth the finale! Best of luck - I know you'll keep going.

Lori_vt, people pay a lot of money for beef marrow. Apparently it's a delicacy. Personally, I feed it to the dog because I find it icky. Sounds like you're really cooking some delicious food.

We only have a week to go. I'm still feeling pretty good, but have decided that although I have more energy I feel more tired. Does that even make sense? lol

Today is a day of firsts. First cookout of the year, even though it never really got above freezing. (Yay Applegate hot dogs and a blazing fire!). First time I fit into my silk long johns in years. (Really needed them today, I'll tell ya). First time I had coffee with coconut oil and ghee. (The one I made at home with my immersion blender was way better than the one I made when I had no blender). Great way to start the second half of my whole 30.

Hello!  I started on January 2nd and am finally getting set up on this website.  My name is Evelyn (58 yrs old) and I live in Vermont.  My sister lives in Canada and inspired me to jump in so, here I am.  It's great to have support through this process and I am looking forward to more health-improvements.  Thank you all for being here to keep me going!

ALSO - I forgot to share the most amazing salad I had yesterday. I went out to lunch with my boyfriend (who's also doing Whole30) and we ordered a winter harvest salad that was so amazing. Definitely re-creating:

    - mixed greens: arugula, spinach, kale, etc.
    - roasted brussels sprouts, cauliflower, beets
    - sunflower seeds
    - sprouts
    - shaved granny apples
    - shrimp
    - then added oil and vinegar, but I bet a homemade herb vinaigrette would be to die for

No suggestions - I was like that too (hence the above explanation), a little early according to the timeline that they've laid out. And I'm not kidding when I say I looked like I was pregnant. It probably took like a five solid days for me basically to "flush" everything out. Just be patient, it will pass.

Also on the same page with the nuts. I've been kind of bad about snacking on my tired days and my go-to is cashews (I love them). But I decided that after yesterday I'm going to be way stricter for the rest of my Whole30. It's not that I'm hungry when I'm snacking, it's that I'm tired and looking for "comfort food." This whole thing is really eye-opening in terms of my relationship with food and emotions.

Hello Whole30 world! HolisticSteph here, and on Day 11 of my first Whole30. A little bit of the "why I started" -

I'm a fitness nut. I teach HIIT (high intensity interval training) classes twice a week As much as I LOVE exercising, I also LOVE grabbing drinks with friends, cheeseburgers, loaded fries, etc. - I'm social to a fault. Sometimes I have plans for every evening for a week a half straight. I felt like I was hitting a wall in terms of my fitness goals. I didn't feel like I was getting more toned (I try to avoid saying "lose weight" - it's not all about the scale), I felt like my energy was lacking, and I needed something move me away from this plateau. After I read "It Starts With Food," I decided to start my Whole30 post holidays (I wanted my NYE champagne!). My official start date was January 2. I generally eat pretty healthy (minus the wine, margaritas, queso - a Texas staple), so I didn't think it would be too hard. Here's how things have progressed.

Day 1-3: Excited! A little sluggish, but not too much. Went light on my workout on Day 2.  Day 4-6: Rough, but not too bad. Day 4's HIIT class that I taught almost made me puke. Definitely chalking that up to a sugar withdrawal Day 7: WORST DAY SO FAR. Let me tell you, I smelled donuts when they weren't around. Everywhere. My cashews smelled like donuts. I cried to my boyfriend because I was in a mood (actual tears in the car after Ikea), and took a two hour nap. I don't know how I made it through that day. I did have to snack on cashews and who knows what else, but it was all compliant. Day 8-10: Sweet baby Jesus, what is wrong with my stomach?! You guys, I looked 3 months pregnant from bloat. The things going on in my tummy should not be spoken of, so I won't. You get the point. Day 11: Today! I feel AMAZING. Stomach bloat is gone. Replaced with tons of energy. I even had multiple people telling me how slim I'm looking (always feels good to get a little ego boost).  I teach another HIIT class tonight, so we'll see how that goes. I'm a big believer in keeping everything balanced. My mantra is "mind, body, soul." You can't feed one and ignore the other. I definitely sound like a tree-hugging, yoga-loving hippie, but I'm not (only in my mind). Just your typical city girl looking to live each day fulfilled.

HolisiticSteph signing out and 1/3 through my first Whole30!

PS - I absolutely love cooking but favorite meals so far have been sweet omelettes, barbacoa, zoodles with load of delish roasted veggies, and creamy, heavenly chicken curry.

Hi Everyone! Congratulations on your Whole30 commitment!
I'm Stefanie, I am from the Boston area and I love food and wine...so this was a big deal. My lifelong friend introduced me to this and suggested that with my passion for food and cooking, I'd enjoy the Whole30. I disagreed, and it took about a year for me to commit to giving up wine and other libations for 30 days.
I have finally committed. I began on January 4th, with my fiance, and we LOVE IT! I am cooking up a storm, enjoying the delicious oils and fats I normally don't use, and finding new 'sub rolls' in things like purple cabbage, red peppers and butter lettuce.
I'd love to share recipes and experiences with all of you! I completed day 9 today, and am thoroughly grateful to be out of week one. (I was not pleasant).
    Best of luck to all!!
