Same here. Just kicked in the last few days. Technically I'm not on Whole 30 anymore, I introduced butter after the 30 days (I started early). But I have no cravings anymore. Especially sugar just feels like too much. Huge for me since I was eating some kind of chocolate or something daily before this. Also, I tried half and half the other day in my coffee. No bueno. But I have decided to stay whole 30 for awhile. Reintroduce very slowly over the next month. Otherwise, I know I will drift back into old habits and I want this to settle in as my new lifestyle. I like the way I feel.

I find it so overwhelming with meal prepping and batch cooking that I also never get more into the movement portion! Oh well- good idea though about being more intentional with walks when the weather gets a bit warmer!

I'm finally feeling like I am doing a whole30! I am still contemplating extending to 45 days since it just kicked in the last day or two. Between the detox, a virus and a nasty menstrual cycle, my body is finally "over the hump" and I would like it to last more than just 10 days or so! So--- as much as I'm "over this" I'm also seriously considering two more weeks to enjoy having energy.

It's still not like feeling I have boundless energy-- but I surprised myself the last few days with how much I got accomplished. Much more than previous to do lists, so-- even though I don't feel like I have boundless energy, I apparently do have lots of energy! Know what I mean?

Day 21! How'd this happen so fast? Feeling pretty good. Wishing the tiger blood would be more forceful. I do have a bit more energy and some NSV, but nothing like a switch flipped. Also starting the "I'm so over this" part of the timeline for sure. I am still only getting 6.5 /7 hours of sleep, not sure what to do about that. I fall asleep around 11/11:30 and then wake up at 5:30 or so and can't get back to sleep.

Ohmygoodness, so much yes! I can totally feel this. My husband and I work completely opposite schedules so that one of us is home with the kids. So we VERY RARELY have alone time, or time at all together! I'm lucky if I sleep 11pm- 6am and that's IF my kids don't wake up scared, sick, wet, etc. Not ideal, I know, but I'm not sure what else to do honestly!

    ***TMI warning***
Good news for me!! I believe my couple days of stomach upset and bloat are totally to blame on my cycle starting! Once the flo began, I almost felt instantly deflated from the bloating (I mean, really, I could tell it was subsiding quickly) and my stomach issues disappeared, too! HOORAY! It stared 3 days earlier than expected this month ,which isn't totally out of the ordinary, but it did catch me by surprise. Anyway, I think my body uses my cycle for detox when I'm doing whole30, because this has happened in past rounds as well. So, the REALLY GOOD NEWS for me is that I'm finally feeling over the hump! Not great yet, because of my cycle, but trending upward. And I'm not fearing I might have FODMAP sensitivities anymore. Woot!

If you need a good shrimp recipe recommendation, I made this recipe yesterday for dinner and it was DELICIOUS! https://whatgreatgrandmaate.com/paleo-shrimp-pad-thai/ Even my husband said we could make it again and he's very picky about his pad thai! (I couldn't find compliant fish sauce, so just used extra coconut aminos for the recipe)

For what it's worth, I did FODMAP elimination a year and a half ago and it's somewhat complicated - there are some foods you can't eat at all, some you can only eat in small amounts, it matters what combination of foods you eat.... I wouldn't recommend trying to do it in conjunction with Whole30. Just my two cents.
But hopefully you'll start feeling better in the next couple of days and won't need to do it at all!

Downhill slope!! Woohoo! Although, I'm feeling kind of discouraged. The past two days I've had slight digestive/bathroom issues in the morning and bloating at night. Something I'm eating? Still getting over illness? PMS because my cycle is near? Who knows. I may end up extending this to a whole45 if things don't turn around in the next day or so. And I may end up looking into FODMAPS for that extra 15 if needed. Sigh-- so discouraged because of that.

My mind is very clear, once I manage to fall asleep, I sleep soundly and cravings have definitely gone away. So hooray for NSV!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  I was super busy - I've been doing training to volunteer as a community tax preparer (plus I had a couple of book clubs). On Saturday I left my house at 8am and didn't get back until 9pm.  I really wanted to give up to be honest, especially at my evening book club, which was held at a cool food hall.  But I ate a couple hard boiled eggs before I went, and just ordered a tea to have while everyone else had drinks and dinner.

Also, halfway through as of today!

OOOOO--- how'd they turn out?? We did pizza/wing night as well. And my daughter kept stealing my potato wedges and my husband kept stealing my kale chips I made! So my meal was good, too! And the wings go so well in that primal kitchen buffalo sauce.

These are all tried and true go to websites for me too! I also found recently what will become a tried and true website in https://whatgreatgrandmaate.com/  Lots of whole30 options there as well.

I've had a virus since Tuesday night. I'm feeling much much better, but still have a cough and congestion. Thursday was absolutely miserable for me. I made homemade chicken soup (totally compliant) and ate that all day Thursday. Didn't bother with the meal template. Oh well. At least I stayed compliant.

Hopefully I will be feeling the effects of whole30 soon! I still just feel sick. Blah. Bad timing (as if there's a "good" time for a cold?) Anyway. I really hope that Tiger Blood is in the near future. I'm kind of feeling discouraged with everything since I do feel so yucky. But I will keep going because I don't want the last two weeks to be for nothing!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I toss the wings in salt, pepper and garlic powder, spread on a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper for easier clean up!) and bake at 425 for 45 minutes. Crisps up the skin nicely! And sounds like the exact buffalo sauce from Costco I dipped them in! Also, good for you for having such a green thumb! The deer in my neighborhood would eat anything I plant like a salad bar and I don't have time or patience to set up a fenced in area.... maybe some time in the future.

@____Emily____ I'm going to have to bookmark that casserole! Sounds yummy.

@Niya the "withdrawal" symptoms are no joke, huh? Glad you found this group to keep yourself and help keep me accountable!
@AdamzW30 sounds like you're being very intentional with your motives and you are doing so well!

Day 9 is here and I'm definitely feeling soooo sleepy and bloated. My daughter is fighting a virus and she's been up at all hours of the night which is NOT helping the "get enough sleep" rule. Hope she is well and sleeping soon so mommy can sleep too!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

The past few days have been going alright for me. The PROBLEM I am finding with batch cooking is by the week's end (yesterday and today) I am VERY sick of the options I made for myself! I started freezing some individual portions of meals to pull out in a week or two when I have a break from them! I'm never one to like eating something more than twice, maybe 3 times if I'm pushing it. I just don't like leftovers. But, I am the only one in my family doing whole30 this time around, so all the meals are mine and it's a lot to get through. But, at least it will save me prep time in future weeks with freezing some!

Yesterday was a big victory for me. Friday is family pizza and movie night at our house. It's a tradition my 6 year old and I started over the summer and he loves it, so I definitely didn't want to give up the tradition for his sake. So, yesterday, like normal-- I prepared a homemade gluten free pizza for my family with my son as is our tradition and then I made myself chicken wings with a compliant buffalo sauce, potato wedges and veggie sticks with a Tessa Mae's dressing to dip. We noshed in front of the TV like normal, but I didn't have any pizza or lick any spoons or anything when prepping it with my son. I also treated myself to a La Croix water as I usually have a glass of wine with the pizza night, but needed a special alternative that wasn't just plain old water. And my wings, wedges and veggies were tasty enough that after the initial feeling sorry for myself for a couple minutes watching my family eat the pizza I made, I didn't miss it because my wings were crunchy and delicious! Hooray!

Sipping some herbal tea right now while trying to look productive at work. Better get going! Hooray for being midway through week 1 with so many victories in our group!

Hello everyone! We've made it over a week now! Things are smoothing out. Not as many headaches, but sleep has been off. Energy getting better.
It looks like everyone is making it through alright. I'm glad to be doing this, because it's true, life triggers us often to reach for junk food to curb our emotions. I am a junk-food binger. I've had a big problem with it since I quit drinking alcohol and smoking cigs ~7 years ago. I stay in shape since I'm active, but it's affecting my health and energy daily now. That's the main thing I'm trying to get control of, and for good.
Went to a friend's bday, I made buffalo wings and a compliant coleslaw. Held me over. Every day I've pretty much been eating salmon, beef, veg and potatoes of some sort. Bought multiple of the paleo kitchen sauces that hit hard! Emergencies I'll have a compliant rx bar or larabar. No sugar jerky, hard-boiled eggs, sardines, fruit or trail mix works too.
I'll check back in soon, and hope everyone has a great week!
    Adam

Oh totally agree with the grayness! I live in Ohio and same-- the sun has disappeared probably until May. So depressing. I have a "happy light" set up next to my kitchen sink that I turn on when doing dishes or food prepping (which is pretty much all my time at home now!) That does help, but it's still not as good as sunshine,

I had a HORRIBLE day3!! UGH! And it wasn't even really food related, but I'm sure my anxiety over everything was exacerbated by whole30 day 3 symptoms! Small things kept happening all day-- low water pressure, led to phone call with water dept, led to water main break blocking my path to get to my son's school to pick him up, amazon charging me for a return that I had to call about, tamtruming two year old daughter, a bill mix up with the bank I had to call and fix-- OMG I was sooooooooo agitated yesterday!

Today (Day 4) is much better. The problems stopped coming! And my headache that I've had for three days (which I'm still not convinced wasn't also weather related) is gone. Now if I can just get my knee to stop hurting, everything would be grand! I had eggs for the first time today on whole30. Weird, I know, other rounds, I've been so sick of so many eggs. But, I decided that I'd eat the meals I had batch cooked on Sunday for priority over making breakfast.... because easy. But, I was a little sick of my  meals today, so I took the time to make a beautiful looking breakfast of basted eggs, pan fried potatoes, avocado and salsa with cilantro and hot sauce for toppings. Filled me up for a really long time, too!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

It makes it so much easier during the week! I have a double oven, so I chose two oven recipes, an instapot recipe, a slow cooker recipe and a stove top recipe. Then eat them through the week and freeze anything it seems will not get eaten in time after a few days. I try to freeze in individual portions so it's easier to reheat when the time comes. Although there's usually not too much to freeze. And this week, I'll adjust the amount of recipes I make based on what's leftover. It does take time planning for about two or three days, but that leaves four or five days of the week less stressful! I also stock up on steam in a bag frozen veggies in case I need a side dish. Super easy to heat, toss in ghee and a few spices and done.

Day 2 is going well enough, I suppose! I slept really well last night, but I also had a chiropractic appointment yesterday and I usually sleep really well those nights anyway. I did NOT need to have a snack before bed last night, so I'm stoked about that.  I woke up feeling really good and then right after lunch, brain fog hit me hard. Not sure if it's withdrawal or seriously, the weather. It's been raining nonstop the last few days and I think a front is coming through? Not sure. Had chicken, lime, avocado soup for breakfast, found in the W30 slow cooker cookbook. It was delicious and always surprisingly liberating to have non-breakfast foods for breakfast.

CG- your chicken salad sounds good! I found a recipe that I've used in the past that uses Tahini for the "sauce" it's really good-- I'll have to put that on a to be made list for some Sunday batch cooking. Do you use Mayo or what for your chicken salad?
Emily what did you use to season your roasted potatoes? I'm always looking for new ideas.
Welcome, Artemis!! Hope day one and two went well for you.

After work, I'll eat some Chili I had batch cooked on Sunday with salad. Can't decide if I should make a Green Goddess dressing I've found in one of the W30 books before or an oil/vinegar dressing. I guess I'll see what I'm in the mood for when I get home!

So I the last two days I batch cooked six meals. Don't have a specific meal plan to follow as I did my last whole 30s, but at least this way I can choose from six meals and fill in gaps as needed. I'm not sure I had enough fat for dinner to keep me full through to breakfast... I had compliant meatballs, sauce and zoodles. When I realized I didn't have a fat, I grabbed some olives, but not sure I had enough. I guess time will tell! If I'm hungry before bed, I'll give myself grace to have a small snack to keep me through the night and try better tomorrow.

@CGinDC I haven't done a round since my daughter was born, either! She's two and a half now. I did two rounds when my son was younger, one when he was one and one when he was two. I agree, the benefits are worth trying for a complete round!

Hi, Amy! I got pregnant with my son during my first whole 30. It definitely healed me the way I needed to conceive! And we had been trying for seven years before this happened. It's not a guarantee, we tried another whole 30 to conceive our second and it didn't work, (we did eventually have #2, just not with a whole 30) but hopefully it'll get your body in the right direction.
