  1. "Kill all the things" lasted with our two kids about an entire weekend. It's not fun but it should be fine after 3-4 days.

peanut butter and jelly is all they want

Hi! I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old who are on Day 19 with me and my husband. I think it really helped in the 2 weeks leading up to our Whole 30, we discussed things as we prepared and cleaned all the non-compliant foods out of our house. They went thru the "Kill All The Things" phase about 5 or 6 days in, but besides that they have been fantastic sports! I found their appetites increased dramatically, and their acceptance of new veggies and other foods has been great. I think it would work for your kids if it was something your whole family was doing. If my husband was eating cake at the office, it might be tougher for my 6 year old to forgo cupcakes at school parties. Also, if there's no PB&J ingredients in the house, there won't be sandwiches right? My 2 year old is gradually eating more and different veggies, so I understand the "2 veggies" only thing. They get over it. She also likes her veggies with fruit in baby food pouches when we're out. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

    Day 18, Allergies and Skin

He's eating this Whole 30 stuff like a garbage disposal...his appetite has gone from so-so to HUGE! Here's a sample of what he's been eating: Breakfasts: 2-3 eggs, 1/2 chicken apple sausage and veggie (zucchini, green beans, occasionally sweet potato hash) all cooked in ghee Lunches: Main Dishes: Tuna salad bowl (mayo, chopped pickles, apples & hard boiled egg) Pulled Pork w/Tessemaes BBQ sauce Baby greens salad with Chicken, HB egg, cucumbers, tomatoes, apples Plus sides: Olives Blueberries Dinners: Dill Salmon & Coconut Shrimp (cooked in coconut oil) with asparagus Taco Salad (ground beef & onions, spicy ranch, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, avocado Snacks: Pineapple Pears Olives HB eggs Left over meat Not sure if it matters, but I found out that my father and grandfather both have a form of dermatitis (of which I can't recall the name) that their doctors say is hereditary. Both take oral medication to control it. It's itchy skin and blisters, mostly arms and legs just like my son.
  5. My 6 year old son is doing great on our Whole 30 (not one slip which is something for a kid) and is on Day 18. Being that he's so young I thought he might see some results at this point, but his seasonal allergies seem to be flaring up and his itchy skin as well (undiagnosed condition, but some form of dermatitis.) I'm having to put hydrocortisone on his legs this week to keep him from scratching till he bleeds. Is it possible that he won't see any results until the very end? Is it possible that if he hasn't seen results thus far that it's not even food related? Shared experience and advice please!

Hi everyone...I'm a day behind all of you (Day14 today) but this thread is the closest active thread to my start date. I have to say- all of the sudden it feels like we've been doing this for a long time! During week 1 (hardest days so far) I promised my family a scratch made chocolate cake on Easter. My 6 year old son keeps saying how he cannot wait for Easter. I can't blame him- he's had to endure 3 or 4 birthday parties at school just since we started. And he stayed COMPLETELY COMPLIANT! That's what keeps me going. I've got a 2 year old who has managed to stay compliant also (even at Sunday school.) My husband says this keeps him going too. Otherwise we'd seriously be considering cake much sooner! Another hard thing for me- I lack the typical motivators that others have for doing this. I'm not and have never been overweight, and aside from occasional breakouts of acne, I have no health issues. So obviously I haven't been seeing great changes. Time for me to reset my mind. I need to tell myself I'm just getting started rather than focusing on the downhill slope.

Apparently a clear mind comes much later in the program since I'm posting on a Feb 15 thread instead of Feb 16...

Starting Day 8 and I have to say I'm so surprised and SUPER proud of my kids! (6 and 2.) While we did have a "kill all the things" sort of weekend and I can see the stress from their carb withdrawls, they have been so strong. At Sunday School I sent each of them with "treats"- one an organic fruit leather, the other 1/2 a Larabar & a few apple chips. The 6 year old refused the chocolate chip cookie from his teacher but happily accepted the green grapes! My 2 year old wears an "allergy alert" pin to help out- when an adult bent over to take a closer look at it she said, "It says Please Don't Feed Me!" They talk about their cravings, and we have ensured them we are having them too. One thing is for sure: doing this with kids and spouse keeps me accountable and on track.

    Whole 30 starts February 16!

Day 4...Yesterday both kids had simultaneous meltdowns around 4pm, which I wasn't handling well. I told them both they better get it under control quick before mommy loses it. Looks like a bit of "Kill all the things" hit us. Escaped to the library play area so they could find some fun and I could unwind. Anyone have experience with their kids doing a Whole 30? I sometimes cannot keep these kids full. They're like birds chirping for more worms constantly. Their dinner last night for example: Lemon Garlic chicken and potato bowls, an apple with cinnamon, a hard boiled egg and 1/2 avocado. I gave them the chicken bowl and fruit for dinner and the other items followed with each "I'M HUNGRY!" I finally realized my son had drank none of his water, which I then insisted he drink before I put any more food out for him. Mind you, he's only 6- not a 15 year old! And my daughter is only 2. Though she may just be saying she's hungry because big brother is.

    Whole 30 starts February 16!

Started yesterday also- with hubby and 2 little kids. I have been sick, as have the kids (congestion, coughing etc.) But Day 1 was great with yummy food. My only problem with Day 1 is that there are 29 more of them, lol. I've been in the kitchen ALOT. Had a food dream last night where I forgot about what was compliant and ended up ordering 2 sodas and a dozen pastries from a bakery...that was fun. Waiting for the tough days to come- they have to be coming I'm sure.
