I actually found soy free tuna at dollar general yesterday! It was their store brand, I think clover valley. Gonna go back and get some tomorrow after I go through the last of my Genova!

I've thought about these things too. I've done a very successful whole30 and reintroduction phase in jan/feb, and then promptly began to watch us slip slowly back into poor habits, because or convenience or craving or whatever reason. I'm hoping that following the program a little longer this time will help to enact so "staying power". But I also realize that I kind of feel like a prisoner facing release and rejoining the outside world. I think this might be a good choice for us to break strongly engrained bad habits. The structure would be good for a while longer in my opinion.

Even though I'm a trained chef, I'm starting to notice that our foods are WAY more flavorful, filling and intense than when I just cook "normal" food. I know that part of this is removing the processed aspect and part of this is that our bodies and taste buds are changing. But even simple things like a homemade basic dry rub for a whole chicken baked in the oven is ten times more flavorful, moist and filling than the premade, packaged rotisserie chicken from the grocery. It's wild! We are happier, in both our food and how we are feeling collectively as a family. I can't see ever going back! Life is just to good and easy this way!

I know right. My parents and inlaws both are up in arms. Lol!!
On a more novel note, so I went to the farmers market today and I bought steaks and Brussels sprouts and parsnip and carrots for dinner tonight. The sweet little girl that I bought the parsnips and carrots from had a huge pile of baby potatoes on sale for $2.50 for a five pound bag. I asked why they were so cheap and she said that no one ever buys them. I thought to myself "that's crazy" and promptly bought two bags. So I just cut into them, and they are INDIGO INSIDE!!!! I am having the most colorful dinner ever tonight! Anyway I called the sweet little girl and thanked her for the awesome suprise. Thought you would enjoy this PNG!

Oh yeah, we started experimenting with fermented foods this week. We got fermented mustard, kimchi, kraut and kombucha, and all are AMAZING!

Collice got a reaction from the_only_colie in Urination A LOT...... I MEAN A LOT
I have been thinking about it and I started drinking lemon water to take off excess fluid from my extremeties after having my son. It worked like a charm and all the fluid came right off, however I liked lemon water so much that I just kept drinking it. I mentioned it to my dr yesterday and he said that I probably should cut back on the lemon water and my salt intake. Yesterday was the first day since October that I felt like I didn't have to pee every 30 seconds haha! Anyway, my dr was so pleased that I was able to quit all of my meds (blood pressure, lasix, and meds for coping with loss) that he asked me for info on whole30 and paleo so he can look into it. I beamed with delight and chortled of everything I know and gave him websites and book names and whatnot.
I also want to state that y'all don't even know me and y'all are as supportive as my husband (the tall man) and my two year old (the tiny tyrant)! And way more supportive than the other people around me! It makes my heart sing to have found a network of such supportive and caring people. Thank god I found the whole30 and the whole9 network and paleo and such an incredible support system. I wouldn't have survived without it. Y'all are amazing! Thank y'all again! We can't wait till April first to start our next whole30, I think this time we may start a log! Haha!
Have a wonderful and joyful day! I know we will!

I can't speak for anybody but me, but I plan a weeks worth of meals and get enough food to cover all of it. I plan a menu and don't do a big cook up because I'm a stay at home home and have time to "hang out" in the kitchen. Do what fits your schedule, lifestyle and and workload. As far as exercise, this will be my first whole30 with actual physical activity so maybe someone else can help you. For some the weekly cook ups help, for others it doesn't. From what I understand the pre and post workout meal are very important.
Anyway, we are glad to have you for the WholeApril! Welcome!

I too am starting a whole30 on April 1st. This is my second. I did my first in January shortly after losing my 3 day old son to SIDS in October. I'm here for you if you should need and I'm always available. It'll be fun!

Kirkor, I read your whole thread aloud to my husband and son and we were thrilled and chuckled at it. You offered such wonderful insight and gave us such wonderful ideas. One day id like to do a stretch like yours but involving the "tyrannical two year old" and his "giant father". Haha! Thank you for your support and please keep in touch as I need all the back up I can get.
