Made it through day 4 and still feeling good! I work nights and someone brought donuts today. The candy drawer is full too. I'm staying as far away as possible. Normally I'd be eating way too much of candy and probably having a donut, but I really need to cure my sugar dragon with this whole 30! It's hard when it seems like everyone else around you is eating whatever they want. I just keep telling myself this will be worth it and I don't need all that sugar.

I freeze broth in ice cube trays. Then I store them in a larger freezer bag. When I'm ready to use I just take out what I need and the frozen cubes thaw quickly!

So, my faves, that I know I don't want to live without, are wine and popcorn.  On the surface, that shouldn't be hard to introduce, right???  And yet, it opens up this whole mindset of, well, I'm not Whole30-ing so....and bring on the fried cheese and pizza.  In saying that, the work for me is in shifting away from an attitude of Rules vs. No Rules and instead adopting an approach to eating that is along the lines of Maintenance, I think.  Eating Whole30 except for the things I really don't want to live without.

Yes! This is my goal too, to figure out how life looks after W30. My family said the same thing, "why are you doing that again?" I really don't want to fall back into my bad habits again, so I'm hoping this whole 30 can help me. So far it's going great!

The easiest thing we do is the one-pan meals with meat and veggies in the oven!  Seriously our go-to.  Called “ingredient meals” in the book.  Most time consuming part is cutting the veggies.  Also an everything in the fridge egg scramble.  We rarely use recipes and keep things simple.

As part of my Lenten promises, I am doing daily reflections using Matthew Kelly’s “Best Lent Ever - Journal” and reading his “Perfectly Youself” book. All really good stuff. Today’s reflection was focusing on failure and how we need to change our perseption of it.
“We must never allow our spirit to be stifled by failure. Failure is part of progress, not a final outcome.”

I have seen many posts of people who have said this is their second or third attempt. And their beating themselves up about it... “All of your failures leave you better equipped than ever before to succeed in your next attempt.”
I must say that this Lent, I can really feel the Holy Spirit working.
Hope you all have a successful day!

Allis, you got this! You are so well prepared! Being honest with yourself and realizing you need a few extra days to prepare is part of the process. Stay true to yourself! Stay here with us and we will help each other along the way!
Elizabeth, I too fasted on Wednesday and it was tough! When you are feeling overwhelmed because of lack of prep and prep time, my advice is keep it simple. The crockpot is great but ultimately it does require chopping, prepping and time. When you are low on time stick with simple meat and veggies. Grill some chicken, steak, sausage with cauliflower, brocolli, carrots etc. And season with olive oil, salt and pepper. A mixed salad with tuna is an easy simple meal too. Just take it one meal at a time. When you do catch some time try doing what Shannon said and make extra food and freeze it. For example crockpot beef stew  or chili, or bone broth.
Day 3!!! What’s on your menu for today! Always looking for new ideas!

It's going well for me so far. I didn't eat a lot yesterday since it was Ash Wednesday and I was fasting. Today I was feeling overwhelmed because I was out of town at the beginning of the week and haven't really prepped anything. I have groceries, but meal planning is always hard for me. I will be working this weekend, so I'm hoping to make a few things tomorrow. Any meal planning tips?

I'm going to do a Whole30 for Lent as well! It will be my second time. I completed my first Whole30 almost a year ago. I think I would like to read Food Freedom too because I really need to get my sugar dragon under control.
    Good luck to you!

This happened to me too. I did the reintro for my first whole 30 but then I went right back to how I was eating before. It's hard because I don't have balance, especially when I'm around other people who are eating whatever they want.

I'll join! I actually just completed my third whole30 on January 30... and immediately fell back into binge-land. The balance just isn't there for me yet and I have consistently disregarded the gradual reintroduction process and just jumped right off that wagon into the world of bread and cheese and sugar. Yikes.
I am really looking forward to doing this again!

@Mountain Girl Thanks! My mom is supportive and trying to eat clean herself (although not whole30). My dad said he is impressed that I am doing it but he can never go without bread at any meal. My brothers just like to tease but it does make it hard. I live in my own apartment, but I was home for the weekend. I am not the grad student at Carolina. I live in MN. Good luck with your half marathon! I ran one 2 years ago but I wasn't eating whole30 then. I'm planning on a marathon this year but not until October.

Love this! Lent is the primary reason I am choosing to start on March 1st. Do you have any go to W30 emergency meals?

Hello! I am also planning on starting March 1st. I tried to do a Whole 30 last year, but only lasted 9 days. I'm hoping for better success this time around! I am nervous too mostly because I work nights. There is always candy and junk food at work too. I would love to cure my sugar habit, so we'll see if this helps.

I've been pretty irritable and crabby today. We were in the car all day so I packed lunch. I learned I need to pack bigger lunches because it definitely didn't hold me over until supper. I'm home for the weekend and I'm realizing the challenges of being around family members who are not eating whole30. My family likes to rub it in too and ask me about foods I like but can't have (teenage brothers like to tease). Also, my family is having pizza for dinner and the smell is killing me!
