Oh Kelli! I hope you have a more mild case and respond quickly to antivirals. I has shingles in my 20s. Thankfully, I was seen quickly and on meds right away, the school nurse sent me. I had them on my back, wrapping around to the side. I recovered quickly. My mom had them several years ago now on her leg. She didn't go to the doctor until day 4 and she was miserable. She waited too long and the meds didn't help much.
I still feel fine today, looking forward to oatmeal and rice tomorrow.

So it appears that my tiredness yesterday was from the poor sleep.  I feel fine today.  I hope occasional cultured dairy will be a go for me.

Tytbody, stomach (or bowel) irritation is the most common issue from gluten, I think, but it causes me join pain. I'm not sure I'll reintro it at all since I know it is a problem for me.

Sounds like lots of mixed results on reintroductions, sorry for those who are uncomfortable!
I reintroduced cultured dairy yesterday. What I failed to take into account is the lack of sleep caused by fireworks. I'm super tired today but not sure if it is the dairy or the poor sleeping. Otherwise, I feel well.

JT, love the reference to The Music Man! My kids were in it a few years ago so I understand living and breathing the music thing. We have done Seuissical too. They aren't in anything this year because of our uncertainty about staying here. I kind of miss it.

Sorry you are hurting tytbody. It stinks to not get the pain relief you need! Thanks for the tips on plantains, I think I will pop up to Meijer and buy one, need bananas too and Meijer is less than 1/2 mile away.

Kelli, sorry rice didn't go well, that would make me very sad. I'll have to try fried plantains, they sound yummy!
Sherri, so glad your non-gluten grains appear good so far! I know I'm sensitive to corn so I'm not even going there. I need to find a good gluten and corn free tortilla like chip for eating salsa occasionally.
JT, happy to have you join me in the plank challenge, I think it is just what I need. I swear I have more energy already.

    Thanks for starting this!
I'm down 10#, have more steady energy if not tiger blood, my clothes fit better.
My 14 yo met me after work today with homemade lemonaid "Try this, I put too much sugar in it but it is good." Me, glaring at her: "Um, NO!" I will reintroduce cultured dairy on the 4th, oatmeal and rice on the 8th and maybe never the rest.
I decided what to do for my next challenge: planks! Simple, yet intense, no equipment needed, don't take a lot time. I held for a pathetic 21 seconds today. Anyone want to join me? I look forward to seeing how along I can hold one on August 1. I will continue to walk and do other things too but I wanted something to commit to doing every single day.

Thanks for the audio book suggestion. I borrow books on CD from the library frequently. There is zero money to spend on anything right now, 10 months of unemployment for my husband has taken its toll. I only work part time. I may have to quit a job I love to work full time elsewhere.
I have an old iPhone 4 and it doesn't always work for apps, and is super slow when it does work. I will check the App Store and see what I might find though.
I mostly like walking, if I get out early enough the heat isn't too bad. Come winter, I need another option. I try to do DVDs in the winter, that is even harder than walking alone! We have two sets of stairs and sometimes I walk those for exercise on bad weather days.

I am a child passenger safety technician (car seat tech) working at a local hospital. I do car seat checks, bike helmet fittings, teach various safety classes and the like. I love what I do and know what I do saves lives.
I love Leslie! I used to have her walk away the pounds on VHS, lol, used to do it with the kids for homeschool gym. My library has a nice selection of DVDs that I use from time to time.
I have a Go Bible (mp3 with the Bible on it) but I find that requires too much focus, listening to an exciting story would be easier I think. I'll see if I can download something.
I'll look up You on a Walk, thanks. I'm not generally a fan of Dr Oz, he pitches too many one size fits all solutions and "miracle pills", but a walking app should be safe.

Day 30! We just have to finish this one last day! Congrats to all of the June 1st starters out there! I'm so proud of all of us!
I guess I'm a turtle as I don't feel the tiger blood but I'm certainly more focused/ less foggy than before.
I will be continuing strict Whole30 until at least the 4th thanks to that one sip of water that turned out to be pop. I may go longer if I don't get a grip on the new cravings that have reared their ugly heads the past few days. My stress level is through the roof and if my hubby doesn't find a job, it will just get worse so I need to learn to deal without eating it.
I think I need to commit to exercise but I'm not sure I could follow through without a support group, like this one. I need accountability it seems. My walking partner won't walk as early as I need to most days so I need to just get out there on my own. It's not the same, nor as easy without a partner that's for sure.
    Here's to day 30!

Tytbody, so glad you checked in, we were all wondering about you. I hope you heal up quickly and can restart soon.
I have not hit tiger blood either. I have more energy than I did before I started, but not a ton. For some reason I'm wanting to snack, probably because of stress. I'm holding the course.

    Hey guys!

So here I am...I had to touch bases again before you wrap this thread up KUDOS AND KUDOS AND KUDOS to everybody-and throw in a high five To those of you who are on track to complete your W30: mega awesome!!! To those of you who have made MAJOR strides in healthy eating and self-awareness, MEGA AWEOME as well!! This is a journey so if the "first" W30 isn't quite a W30, it's a step in a good direction which might lead to another complete W30, or in a slightly different direction that you find personally helpful.

For myself, the family crisis I mentioned kind of kept spiraling, and I wasn't able to stay compliant. It's a long story (which seems to be heading in a good direction now) but it's not something I'm feeling guilty about, just the way Real. Life. Is.

I am taking a few things away from this 30 days:

    1. I am a perfectionist. I am proud that I was able to stay focused on being MOSTLY compliant even when it became impossible to be perfect. This is a major win for me because I tend to be the totally prototypical "throw in the towel-I've already screwed up" type person. I am happy being mature enough to accept incremental progress.

    2. I am a bit of an exercise nut, because for me it's a healthy way to de-stress. I have learned that I need to develop a habit of MINDFULNESS as a way to deal with stress, not just MOVEMENT. In other words, I need to connect to the ability to 'just BE": BE in the moment, BE in the silence, BE in the chaos, and not have to move or escape or fix anything. Because sometimes you can't do any of those things and STILL it doesn't help to turn to food as a solution. This is a major life skill I want to work on.

    3. I am going to try *again* for that elusive complete W30 because I see the real change the parameters and habits are creating in my life. So, Tytbody-YOU IN!?!? (JK, do whatever works for you )

What non scale victories/learning has everyone else come up with???

Happy Birthday Susabella!  I hope your celebration goes well tonight and people are OK with your choice.  It is your celebration after all.

Giant bowl of shredded carrots and zucchini with 3 scrambled eggs for breakfast.  Gotta get to work and have no lunch plans.  I hope to get home for lunch.

Tytbody, lol, I'm sitting in B&N after going to see Finding Dori with some of the teens. They needed a ride and offered me a free ticket to schlep them. Now, they are shopping before we head home. The smells in the theater were not kind!

I stayed compliant yesterday but no real template meals.  I craved something awful, may hardest day by far!  Back to templet today.  Two eggs, a potato shredded and cooked in garlic infused coconut oil, and cooked spinach (gag) for breakfast.  I have some hard boiled eggs and a big salad already set for lunch.  I have to haul a group of teens about 25 minutes away to see the Dori movie after church so I'm prepared to eat on the run.

My hubby is crabby and not liking the smells of my cooking.  I have no real support here at home so I'm very thankful for you all!

Thanks! I'm hanging in there.  I don't want to, but I also don't want to quit.  Thankfully, I know eating healthy will help me deal with the stress and I need to hang on to that.  Stress will always be here in one form or another so learning not to depend on food to deal with it is key to living healthy.  It's just hard today.
