Well, I seem to be talking to myself here.  That’s ok.  Happy to journal.
Day 43.  I am sooooo ready for this to be over, but sticking to it.  I think of cake several times a day.  A problem with Whole 30 for Lent is that it ends on Easter with all those wonderful forbidden foods ready for feasting.
At the end of each week I have completed I’ve been treating myself to a kitchen gadget.
    week 1 - julienne peeler
week 2 - rack to hang some new serving bowls.
week 3 - revere wear steamer and double boiler bowl.
    week 4 - ceramic baker
week 5 - refrigerator and freezer thermometers
week 6 - stainless steel 4 quart mesh strainer
The stay at home order works with all the cooking, but I’m sure the grocery shoppers wonder about my ordered items - coconut aminos, rice vinegar, almond flour.  Not the usual quarantine items.
Lots of leftovers in the fridge, and running the dishwasher everyday.  Just can’t get my kitchen u see control with everyone home all day and cooking such a large part of this program.
I am starting to notice a change in my shape in the mirror.  That’s nice.  Lots of weight to take off, but this is a good start.
I just can’t overdo it at Easter.

Now on Day 32.  A different approach to this challenge now.  My husband was working outside of the US for the past 7 weeks.  Immigration made him return to the US.  Now he his home and I’m left to satisfy his appetite as well as keep my Whole 30 for Lent going.

I made him a pot of homemade whole milk yogurt.  He eats corn chips and salsa in front of me, and cheese is back in the house.  That’s tough.  I’m hanging in there, though.
In return he’s getting me out of the house walking the dog in the Park together.  I’ve been too much of a homebody.
    Still no tiger blood.

I just cleared Day 26 of my 49 Day Whole 30 for Lent.
Haven't gotten that Tiger Blood yet.  I sure could use it.  Because I haven’t gotten that Tiger Blood I am tempted to get on the scale, but I haven’t.  The scale is put away with the batteries taken out.
I had the flu in early Feb and a cough has lingered and I have some hip pain that wakes me up.  I started taking Tylenol before I go to bed.  I wonder if that’s part of the problem.
Still hanging in there.  I’m over the half-way point.  Good luck everyone.  Stay healthy.

I think I'm going to keep eliminating the sugar and the alcohol except for special occassions and otherwise go back to my Mediterranean diet. It is definitely good to keep those things in check while maintaining balance.
Passing on the treats has been relatively easy for me, though I do love a piece of dark chocolate now and again. I definitely miss the variety of foods I am accustomed to eating and the wide range of flavors and textures that play off each other.  The meats definitly do not suit me in larger quantities. I usually use meat as accents and rely on whole grains and beans to fill in the gap.
I hope you see the results that you are hoping for soon.  I was looking at the Lenten W30 as a little spring cleaning so to speak.  Wishing you the best luck!

Yes.  I eat a lot of sugar.  I expected to see improvement faster ... this is my 3rd Whole 30 Lent, but I’m not seeing it this time.  Day 17 for me, and I have zero energy.  Lots of brain fog.  Having trouble staying focused on reading a magazine or a book.
I quit drinking on New Years, so maybe that’s another reason I’m not feeling that boost.  One of the problems had already been eliminated.
I’m sticking with it.  It’s a discipline thing for me mixing the food with the Lenten devotion of seeking self-improvement.  I miss cheese. I miss diet soda, and I miss my candy.  I’m a classic penny-candy lover.  So I’m happy to have an excuse to pass up those things.
    I also miss the scale.
Not here to talk you into keeping with it if you don’t think it’s for you.  You know your body and your health and your eating habits.  Good luck to you in your decision.

Hi.  I did Whole 30 for Lent the last 2 years.  Looks like my Facebook groups for that didn’t come round this year.  So, I just found you all here.  Glad I did.  I started the Sunday before Ash Wednesday because I was feeling so dragged down I wanted to get into action.  I quit drinking on New Years so at least I’m not battling that demon.  So, I’m on day 13.  My days aren’t following the usual calendar.  Seem a bit delayed.  Last night I had a dream about Karo light corn syrup.  Ew.  I have lots of aches and pains in my joints but that probably from the springtime wild fluctuations in barometric pressure.
Hoping this round helps alleviate some arthritic like pain I’ve been experiencing, but my real goal is to work on discipline since I really do lack in that.  Praying the cravings through.
Meatless Friday means a tomato spinach frittata for breakfast, tuna salad with walnuts for lunch, vegan roasted pumpkin soup and salad for dinner.  Lots of coffee, water and tea.
Nice to meet you all here.

Committing to starting my first Whole30 on Ash Wednesday. Looking for others starting the same day.  I put out the info to an online women's fitness and accountability group I'm in and talked to a few people at work but haven't found anyone to join me yet. Might be flying solo.

There may be something in your soap or moisturizer that is giving you trouble now.  I love making my own face scrub/cleanser, and it's so super simple.  1/4 cup sea salt (dead sea is best) and a few tablespoons of your favorite cooking oil (grapeseed, coconut, avocado or olive).  That's it.  Rub it on your face (gently) in a circular motion and rinse it off.  It's a great make-up remover, exfoliant, cleanser and moisturizer all in one.
I don't measure my amounts any more.  I just scoop up a handful of salt and add enough oil to make it moist, jump in the shower and use it on my face, elbows, knees....

Thank you so much for this info.  It has been disappointing to read so many reports of glowing skin, and I feel this crud all over my face.  Clinique will benefit from this, for sure.

I’m on day 38 and the last few days have been the hardest.  First, my complexion is just awful.  I’m 56 years old and I have these itchy bumps along my cheeks and on both sides of my chin under the corners of my mouth.  Very disappointed about this side effect.
What aslo has been hard are my unending cravings for ............ I would mention it specifically but don’t want to set off cravings for any of my fellow abstaining forum friends.
I have an adult daughter with a severe cognitive disability and going to the grocery together every day is just something that we do.  I found myself pining for Coca Cola yesterday.  Yikes!
The good news is that I’ve stuck with the plan 100%.  I’m getting on the treadmill every other day and have increased my speed and distance over the last 38 days.  And, energy is still there.
I really want to get on the scale.
    Easter’s coming!!

I am interested in a stevia reaction because I know aspartame messes me up.  It wasn’t the processed stevia that resembles granulated sugar.  It was stevia leaf in a tea bag with spearmint and chamomile.
Regarding peeking at the scale at day 31 - I was also thinking that would be ok.  I’m on Day 29 and right now, I don’t want to peek.  I’m feeling some NSV and want to keep going for the rest of Lent and now I’m concerned that if I do peek on Day 31 I’ll be disappointed with the number that pops up.
So the scale has been put up on a high closet shelf with the batteries removed.  There it shall remain.  Maybe I’ll save the AAA batteries for my Easter basket.

Congratulations on your Day 30!  Well done, you.  I’m also on Day 30, but I’m going to keep going.
Yes, I’m at tiger blood.  Problem is, I’m also experiencing awful insomnia.  That means tiger blood at 4am when I was folding laundry and cleaning the kitchen.  I’ve been looking into this insomnia issue, and apparently it is common in Whole30.  I never read about that before.  I heard it was all wonderful deep restorative sleep.  There is a theory about the brain interpreting starvation messages from the body and kicking in survival mode to stay up and graze/hunt.  I also thought I might be overdoing exercise on the treadmill, so I’m cutting back to every other day.
NSVs - I’ve noticed brushing my teeth that my gums are not as tender, and my husband told me I’m looking slimmer.

Disappointing.  Day 28 for me and I just learned the bedtime tea I’ve been drinking has stevia leaf!  Oh no!  It’s a caffeine free tea, but I haven’t been sleeping the last three nights so I double checked the ingredients and the last one listed was stevia leaf.
How do I feel about this?  Well, it was supposed to be a 48 day run so I’m going to keep going.  Also, the purpose of this diet is to learn your sensitivities.  So, if I’m sensitive to stevia maybe I’ll learn that if I finally have a good night sleep.  I’ve literally been wide away the last three nights.
ive probable had no more than 5 or 6 cups of the tea over the past 28 days.  Most of that this week.
I thought I was doing so well.
  22. Thanks

Friday night Lenten Special at our house.  Nicoise Salad.  Wish I had purchased a better quality can of tuna, but I was at ALDI and the selection was limited.

Welcome Nedster7. This is my second whole30 but my 1st being active in a fantastic supportive forum and this has truly made a world of difference! So a big Amen and Thank you to Pearlgirl2017 and all of you for the fantastic support!
I have also have been re-reading Melissa's whole 30 Day by Day and this week I'm reading, per her suggestion, Food Freedom Forever. My reintroduction first time was a tad bit of a disaster so I am committed to a different order of reintroduction. Day one before was reintroducing non-gluten alcohol and honestly my sugar dragon took control and I really never got it back under control.
So this time I am introducing 1 legumes, 2 non-gluten grains, 3 added sugar, 4 dairy, 5 gluten, and 6 baked goods without dairy or gluten this will be an Easter treat!
I so hope our forum will stick together for reintroduction, I have way more concerns about having it be successful!!!!!!!

Welcome @Nedster7, it's always fun to meet new people.  Glad you are experiencing a definite NSV with your gut.
The biggest problem I have with this program is trying to eat enough, and remembering to add a fat to each meal.  I am a classic under-eater, except when it comes to ice cream of course.  I find it difficult to eat as much as is recommended in the template at any one time.  If I eat that much at breakfast, I'm not ready to eat again until 3 o'clock.  Then dinner time is ruined.  I'm still trying to work it out but I know I'm going to have to do things a little differently.  Most likely by having smaller portions and a snack of something, like deviled eggs, in between meals.
    It's a work in progress...
I haven't had any dreams about eating non-compliant food.  Mine seem to be about having to go to the bathroom...NOW!  Really weird.
