  1. I have found the Tigerblood. The issue I have is that it comes at 9pm and last till about midnight. My schedule dictates 5am mornings. Any suggestions? Could it be timing of my evening meal or what I am eating?
  2. Hello! This is my first time doing whole30. I went through the bloating, tired, cranky, and then saw some energy with better sleep. But this week I haven't felt great. I've been doing 3 personal training workouts a week which makes me incredibly sore. I also teach so I know that causes some stress. It's highly unmotivating seeing as that i'm already half way through. I've tried my best to not cheat but I might have unknowingly??. I'm getting worried and confused as to why i'm so tired/cranky/don't feel like i've lost any weight. I know that weight loss isn't the main focus but I thought going from drinking almost every night to nothing and totally changing my diet I would feel some pounds come off! Here's what I had today as an example: 7:30 breakfast: 2 egg cups, handful of sweet potato hash, half an avocado, half a grapefruit. coffee with nutpods 10:00 mid morning snack: banana or apple with almond butter 11:40 Lunch: leftovers from dinner or premade whole30 meal from Territory (similar to snap kitchen) examples: stir fry with cauliflower rice, spaghetti squash with ground turkey 3:00 Mid afternoon snack: epic meat stick, or pork and sage balls before I go workout. Was doing an apple with almond butter but tried to stop having fruit after lunch. 7:00 Dinner: burger with mayo, lettuce, sweet potatoes, avocado, and maybe one slice of bacon Is there anything that I can be doing differently to see the energy spark in the last 12 days? I would greatly appreciate any help!! I workout after I get done teaching. I do have a pre workout (promix) because of the high intensity of it all. Could just 10.5g be ruining my results? If it is I can stop drinking it! Please help make the tiger blood happen!! Thank you!!
  3. This is my 4th (or maybe 5th) Whole 30 in 2 years. While the others have been during times when I've had a mostly healthy lifestyle (sticking to a mostly paleo diet (at least at home) and exercising regularly) before starting. This one, however, follows about 4 months of food and (lack of) exercise debauchery...just because #life. I knew it was exactly what I needed to reset my body (and my mind). Because my previous Whole 30's were so successful, I had high expectations. I've been very frustrated that I haven't been feeling the extreme positive results and NSV's this time that I have in the past. I started questioning whether I was "doing it wrong" and considered giving up...because, you know, my newfound love of good, craft IPA's was much more satisfying (see debauchery above) I've been reading the Whole 30 day-by-day and trying to stick with it. At any rate, the point of my post is to offer encouragement to others who are as frustrated as I was. Whether this is your first or your 5th+ Whole 30. Everything that the program says about everyone experiencing Tiger Blood differently and at different times as well as where you are coming from before starting your Whole 30 making a big difference is 100% true!!! Stick with it!!! 2 days ago I was considering giving up. Today, I'm considering extending for another 15 days (though I'm not gonna lie...I'd still kill for a good IPA LOL!).
  4. I’m on Day 22 of my first Whole30. The plan has not been a drastic change of diet for me and I’ve been taking barre about 5 days a week for the past several years. I felt fine during week 1 (the withdrawals were not bad for me). During week 2, I felt great: good consistent energy, but not necessarily what I would think of as “tigerblood”. During week 3, I was very irritable but I still had consistent energy, for the most part, for the first few days. However, my workouts were not the best. Then, things just started to decline. Now starting week 4, I feel like I have less energy than before and barely have energy to workout (I’m dreading something that I love to do). Also, my mood is still all over the place. There are some positives: less brain fog, cravings are manageable, and I’m seeing physical results (waistline). I just want to feel tigerblood/consistent energy. That and taming my sugar dragon was my motivation to start the program. I’m too stubborn to quit, but I’m struggling to keep it together. My husband keeps asking me if I’m ok or upset about something. I’m eating more than I ever did before the program and I try to eat the recommended portions at each meal, but making it 4 hours between meals with no snack is a struggle on most days. I know that not eating enough seems to be the best explanation. However, at the end of each meal, I feel full. And I think if I kept eating, I’d be overly full. Example meals: Breakfast: Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil (1 tsp) and 1 scoop of Collagen in my coffee. PLUS 2 eggs with at least a handful of spinach or other veggie and a piece of fruit (sometimes I don’t eat a fruit) Lunch: Salad (2 handfuls of leaves) with shredded chicken (maybe a cup) or other protein, 1/2 an avocado, and other random veggies (tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, bell pepper) OR Soup/chili (maybe a cup and a half) with 1/2 an avocado and I always add a handful of spinach to my soups PLUS Fruit (if I didn’t eat it at breakfast) Dinner: It’s always a protein serving + a veggie + a starchy veggie. Sometimes I’ll eat 1/2 an avocado with dinner. If I don’t, I try to increase the oil or ghee I’m using, and/or use a fattier piece of meat. Snacks: I am T R Y I N G so hard not to snack, except for after a workout. It’s typically a meat stick or a boiled egg and a purée veggie pouch (the ones typically for kids/babies). If possible, I eat sweet potatoes after my workout. I’m desperate to find out if I’m doing something wrong. Today was one of my worst energy days: it felt strenuous to walk up one flight of stairs and complete minimal household chores. That can’t be normal, right?

PMS is Sabotaging my Tiger Blood!

I'm on Day 17 and my PMS has been dragging me down the last 4 days. I'm concerned about how I am going to feel when my period starts tomorrow. These are supposed to be my best days but I am so drained both mentally and physically! Any tips would be much appreciated
  6. Ok, it’s Day 19 and I am still having stomach issues with diarrhea and/or loose stool. I am exhausted and where is my tiger blood? Any thoughts on why this is happening or what to do??! help!

Quick note about a HUGE health NSV!

Just a quick note.... Day 20 of my first round is today! I tend to have a high heartrate and really low BP. I have mitral valve prolapse, and genetically predisposed to heart problems. I'm not overweight. I started my w30 because of a number of health issues. I just happened to check my fitbit, and my resting heartrate has dropped 9 BPM since I started w30! I just looked at the graph on Fitbit and it slowly lowered since that day! And I've only worked out 4 times. But I'm starting back to my workouts tomorrow because I now have pretty consistent tiger blood!!
  8. I'm on my first Whole30, Day 15 (with husband). While I've definitely felt benefits, I'm sort of over it at this point, and wondering if I'm going to be able to muster the motivation to make it the last half. I'm tired, over all the meal prep and would kill for a bit of brie and glass of wine. Sort of hoping to feel the Tiger Blood at this point, but not feeling it. Is this normal? Thanks in advance, Julie
  9. Hi everyone I've been lurking on the forum for the last 3 weeks, but I thought I'd reach out today since I'm feeling so rotten at the moment. I had really bad withdrawals in week 1 and when they passed I felt so great and so positive but over the last 2 weeks I've gotten so exhausted and my digestion has gotten a bit iffy too. Twice I've woken up with headaches so bad that it feels like I drunk half a bottle of tequilla the night before. Both times I'd eaten out the day before so may have inadvertently eaten something non compliant I guess, but I'm not sleeping well and it's really starting to get me down. My meals are invariably eggs for breakfast (4 eggs, onion, peppers, spinach, ham or prosciutto and sonetimes avocado and tomato too), lunch is either leftovers or salad with fish and homemade mayo or avocado and dinner is usually some kind of meat dish either including coconut in the sauce, or served with mayo, a portion of veg and often sweet or white potatoes. I've only eaten out 4 times in the last 3 weeks. I don't get hungry, i love almost all of my meals and I'm losing inches (I wore jeans on Friday that didn't fit 4 weeks ago), I just wish I had more energy. I've had visitors every weekend since I started, so I took Thursday and Friday off work to relax incase it was just a lack of downtime but it's made no difference. I keep waiting for tiger blood to hit but I'm worried that I'll get to the end and still be shattered Thanks in advance for any advice K Xx

    Round 2!

Today is day 2 of my second whole30. I experienced some great results the last time I did this (January 2014) and am hoping to stay on the bandwagon the entire period this time and also to add in exercise. When I did this program last year, I was coaching a competitive skating team and fell off a little bit towards the end (eating things like sweat potato chips and allowing corn back in when I still had about a week left). With all the traveling for competitions, it was too easy to give in to a chips and salsa party (they were just corn and salt in the chips though!) Anyways, I'm hoping to stick better to the plan the entire time and to make this round even better by adding in exercise that I didn't do last time. I'm also hoping to get that "tiger blood" this round (exercise should help?). I graduated college last May and never quite got rid of the extra weight I put on "celebrating." I'm hoping this will be the recharge I need so that I stop feeling so sluggish and unmotivated. ps. If anyone has any alternative recipes/ideas for a protein rich breakfast WITHOUT eggs I would love to hear it! I just can't stomach them (the consistency just gets me!)
  11. Just wanted to share my slow-and-steady-wins-the-race success story with everyone — especially those of you who are struggling or might be slow to see results. Today is Day 45 of my second Whole30. (I did my first one last summer.) It's been the FIRST day I've felt tiger blood. I don't plan to stop today or anytime soon. My body has been through a lot, and it needs the time to heal. Plus, I don't ever want to return to my old lifestyle. I've been slow to lose weight, and I've been slow to feel better. This has been disheartening, because so many Whole30 success stories are all, "Holy cow, I lost 18 pounds in 30 days and I feel like I want to climb a mountain!" I haven't felt any of that. While I feel so much more at peace with the food I'm putting into my body, I've been craving results — many of which are just now appearing. I lost six pounds in the first month, and given the amount of weight I need to lose (more than 60 pounds), that's not much at all. My energy has been really low. I haven't been "sleeping the sleep of the righteous." Despite following the plan to a T, I've wondered every day if I'm doing something wrong. But, in the past couple of days, things have started to pick up. And today, holy crap, I FEEL IT. I wish I would have been nicer and more patient with myself in the last month. I spent a lot of time feeling hopeless. Given my context, I think I just needed more time. I had a two-and-a-half-year bout with antidepressants, which completely wrecked my metabolism. Last year when I was on antidepressants, I did a Whole30 and lost zero weight. This year, I'm completely off of them, and my body is just now getting into the mode where it wants to burn fat. If you're on antidepressants and struggling to lose, it could be the antidepressants. It was for me. If you're interested in getting off them, work with your doctor to develop a very careful tapering plan. Coming off them was pure torture, but it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Anyway, maybe I will be brave enough to share pictures in a couple of months, but for now, hang in there. For some of us, results are slower to come. That sucks, and it ain't fair, but it's OK.
