  1. New here...I will start on December 1st. I will start no sugar today because mentally, I am just ready. I have been a sugar addict for years and I have recently discovered that I am definitely sensitive to milk products. I tried Paleo a few years ago, as prescribed by my doctor, but I just didn't keep up on it, especially after I had met my soon to be ex-husband. He never wanted me to be healthy (he definitely wasn't) and It was so hard to fight for that. I have decided that now being in a safe place, I am going to break free from not just the bondage he and sugar had me under, but to finally take control and stop making excuses. I am ready to slay the sugar dragon and move forward. A friend of mine did the Whole30 for 100 days and has made it a lifestyle to help her kiddos and they did it as a family and saw drastic changes. I'm ready to make the drastic change for my body. I'm nearly 300 pounds, biggest I've ever been and I use to be healthy and an athlete, till college and a back injury. Just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have goals and dreams and my body isn't going to be the result of those things unanswered. I'm ready to do this!

    Whole30 newbie!

    Starting August 6th!
  3. Hello Internet! I have decided, after several months of trying to complete a whole30, that I am actually going to do it this time. I am just out of excuses. I completed several successful rounds back at the end of 2016 (eek that seems like a long time ago) and beginning of 2017. Then my husband and I took the slow roll back into eating the standard american diet and now I am not sure how I got right back where I started. We have moved, I started a new job working nights (so sleep is my challenge), and now I have a super active toddler who likes to get into just about anything that isn't bolted to the ground. I remember how good it felt. I remember the sleep-- oh the SLEEP! I digress... I know how to meal prep, I can cook, I just haven't been willing to give up ice cream and wine until just now. It's been too long, whole30-- let's catch up. Anyone with me??

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

Hi All! I have tried and have not fully completed a Whole30. For Lent, I am only allowing myself to watch TV for 2 hours a day. With my extra time, I will spend time in the kitchen and bettering my health inside and out. I will have 30 days of Whole30 and 10 days of reintroduction. I will be going along with the Day by Day book and reading It Starts with Food and Food Freedom. Anyone else starting on Feb 14? Looking forward to a rewarding experience!
  6. Hi all - whole 30 neophyte here. I'm really looking forward to my first whole 30 journey, but I don't want to set myself up for failure, so I am really taking this planning and preparation stage seriously. Here's the deal. I have an ear infection. I was diagnosed a day or two after Christmas, and have been through my first round of antibiotics. Looks like I'm headed back to the doctor because I am feeling crappy again. I'm working slowly on getting the pantry cleaned out and starting to do some meal planning, but I still haven't picked a day to start. Should I wait until I'm better from this ear infection? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere...I promise I did try to find it... embeesea

    Whole30 New Start 11/12/17

Hello Community, I am Savannah B. I am in Orlando FL getting ready to start the Whole 30 for the first time. I heard about the Whole 30 program via Melissa's interview on the mindbodygreen podcast and I was hooked. I've looked over the website a bit and finally decided this past week to buy the book and do the program. I am doing this because I want more energy. I am training to run (another) half marathon in January and I hope after that to train to run (another) full marathon in Sep/Oct of next year. I know that with my previous races a lack of any kind of responsible nutritional program slowed me down and caused a lot of unnecessary pain during training and the race. I want to improve my performance but I also want to just improve my life. I believe, wholeheartedly, that food is where it starts. What we put into our bodies affects what we get out of them, and I think that by doing the Whole 30 and reseting myself nutritionally I can positively impact other areas of my life that are lacking because of poor input. I am excited to get started and get prepped and I am looking forward to engaging with this community as I go on. I welcome your support and encouragement. xoxo SB

    Anyone else with me?
  9. Hi I'm Katie Muller! I'm 23 years old and I just recently (3 months ago) had a beautiful baby boy! I've always struggled with my weight and my bad habits but it wasn't until I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant that I realized how bad those habit really were! You know the ones I'm talking about eating all the sugar and fats in sight! Not to mention feeling so un-engergetic that I did not want to excerise make that I do not want to exercise! I feel like having my son has made me realize that I don't want to feel this way anymore I want to be able to play and keep up with him once he's mobile! I want to be the best I can for him! So for me the Whole30 is hopefully going to break those bad habits and hopefully give me the engery I need to be happy and health for my son and for any future children I may have! So on Saturday January 21st 2017 I am going to start this journey to change the way I see food and break those unhealthy habits and change my life for the better!

    Starting 1st W30 Oct 10!

Hello! My name is Hilary, and In will be starting my first Whole30 on October 10 2016. I have ben struggling with extra weight that may be connected to underlying medical issues... I read "It Starts With Food" and later The Whole30 book and something clicked. I love cooking, and am thrilled that the W30 aligns with my general approach to food - eat seasonally/organically and locally when possible. Happily prepping and planning until I get started on the 10th!

    October 21st

So I know this is an odd day to start, but I did the calendar math and this seems to be the best time for me and I will finish just in time to reintroduce dairy on Thanksgiving. Butter and sour cream in my mashed potatoes, yes please! Pie, stuffing and gravy can wait in the freezer for a few days while I finish the reintro phase. Anyone else????
  17. Hello I am excited to "officially" begin the Whole30 Lifestyle. Cleaned out my kitchen, bought a juicer and blender, and gave away all the food I won't be eating for the next 30 days. Deciding to do the Whole 30 two weeks ago gave me some real scares! Especially the CRAVINGS moments. As I was preparing, I found out about cravings when I realized OMG I can't have my sourdough bread butter delivery devices any more! Dag-gone-it, I'm going to eat all this food I bought before the program begins - but HOW am I going to survive with out it?:-) Good news! I'm already delving into the Whole30 food plan, before my official start date, so I can check it out, learn how to shop, and cheat if I want to. Thing is, just giving up dairy, bread and pretzels, for a little over a week now, I already realize less brain fog ... and ENERGY ! This Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 is my official Whole30 start-date and I -AM - READY So, I hope to share stories and RECIPES along the way. Thank you M&D for making this concept so practical to understand. Truly appreciate your years of work and sharing. Peace Trey

Hello!! My name is Kelley and I am 26 years old. This is my first time doing the whole thirty although I spent many years eating similarly. In 2012 I started my weight loss journey and have mostly stuck with it every since. I have lost and maintained keeping off 38 pounds. I kinda of fell off track this past spring while I was juggling work, school and wedding planning. I got married almost a month ago and am ready to get back on track and feel great again. I hope to connect with you guys and get some accountability and advice! I love cooking and am always looking for new recipes. I cant wait to start this whole 30 and see where it takes me!

    Starting Friday, 8/14/15

Hi from Arkansas! I'm Suzy, and I'm eager to start Whole30. A year ago I was following the No Sugar No Grains philosophy (not really a diet, sort of like Whole30) and felt great while I was on it, but then I got to backslidin'. I can tell such a difference in how I feel now vs. then. I'm happy to have been introduced to this program, this website, this forum and the books and can't wait to get going. I'm hoping I'll be able to cure my self-diagnosed "silent reflux" (I clear my throat for half an hour after I eat ANYTHING -- drives me and my cubicle-mates nuts), plus a myriad of other nagging issues that come from consuming grains, sugar, etc. Hi! Starting July 1!

I started reading about Whole30 a few days ago, picked up the book today, and am starting July 1! Who's with me? One question I'll be looking to answer: anyone have any good substitutions for nuts (severe nut allergy--all)? I sometimes use sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds, but I'm sure there are more substitutes out there. Thanks in advance for any & all advice/inspiration/ideas.

    Starting May 26

Hi all, I'm starting my 4th Whole30 on May 26 (the day after Memorial Day). I'll be visiting friends in Nashville this weekend, and know I'll want to have a biscuit and a cocktail! My past Whole30s have been great (and each one has been a little easier . . .), but I always slip back into bad habits after. I've been feeling tired lately, and am about to start a new workout regime, so this couldn't come at a better time. Plus, I turn 30 in August and would like to celebrate with a healthy lifestyle! Who's in for a post-Memorial Day start?!

    Start date: 27 May, 2015

I have a binge eating disorder. There, I said it. The worse thing to me about it is that my job is to help people with this as well as other health issues. So knowledge clearly is not power. I need someone to outline a clear path for me because "just drink a cup of water to make sure you're just not thirsty" isn't working for me. Enter Whole30. I am very excited about this concept. My weakness is sugar. I have the sweet tooth of a Willy Wonka character and the uncanny ability to hide the effects of said sweet tooth with occasional weeks of vigorous exercise. It is simultaneously defeating and cathartic to write this down somewhere that isn't one of the myriad journals I have poking out from under my couch where I've forgotten them. And I am not yet comfortable enough to reveal this to my friends and family as I would likely be pressed to reveal the origin of my disordered eating. Never mind admitting perceived weakness to people who view me as the "pillar of strength". Those words were actually used by one of my loved ones to describe me once. I almost choked on my powdered doughnut. So, I hope that I find a community here that will help me with this path because I am sick of the double life, the bloat, the shame and the power that food has over me. By my start date, I plan to finish reading the Whole30 book, read this forum obsessively building a successful kitchen so that I can hit the ground running. Good luck (is that what you say about something like this?) to me and to everyone on this journey.

    Start Date: April 26th

Hello everyone! I just wanted to take some time to introduce myself on these forums before I start my 2nd Whole30. I completed my 1st Whole30 recently in January and make the mistake of not trying it for longer to help with bad habits and skipping the entire reintroduction protocol. So it ended like every other time I tried to make a permanent change. I'm here this time around because I'd really like to make a conscious effort to change my food habits along the way this time, like it's really meant to be done. I'm also here because I tried to restart after January and have been struggling to stick to it the 2nd time around. I was hoping to keep myself accountable here, really analyze what's going on with me and my thoughts throughout this one, and hopefully get some tips and encouragement along the way. I'm not entirely overweight for my height or anything, but I am really tired of being sick and tired from the food that I eat, and I do not want to be controlled by my appetite anymore. I overeat the wrong foods constantly; it's been hard for me to let go of fast food and sugar, especially sugar. After the 1st Whole30, I really learned that the all or nothing approach worked wonders for me, so I'd like to stick to it again. And I'm done ranting.
  24. Last time I did a Whole30 I had a buddy and it helped so much to check in on a daily basis and share our experiences and challenges. Anyone up for being my buddy this go 'round?
  25. Hi everyone! I'm planning to start my second Whole30 in FOUR DAYS! After a summer that included an abdominal surgery and general laziness while recovering, it's time for a change. Last time I did Whole30, I lost 20 pounds and followed the plan to the letter for the most part. I'll admit, I didn't pay attention to the portion suggestions. This time, I'd like to be as strict as possible. Anyone else starting around the same time? It's certainly easier to take this journey with the support of others. Thanks!
