  1. Protein Powder?

    My boyfriend and I are wanting to start the Whole30 together but he fears loosing weight during it. He is about 6'0 and 130lbs. He has been trying for years to gain weight but struggles with it even with weight gain protein powders. He is an ICU nurse and often doesn't get the opportunity to eat and heavily relies on some type of protein drink to keep his daily intake up. Yes he does eat when he is off work more than I can sometimes keep up with. He has an extraordinary metabolism. Can anyone suggest a good protein powder he can have on the whole30? or possible options that are high in calories that he can eat while on the go in a hectic pt care area? It would need to be things that can't easily spoil aka keep in his pockets for hours at a time without refrigeration.

  3. Hi...prepping and planning for day 1 on Monday. I have the whole30-recommended fish oil, vitamin d, magnesium and multi vitamin along with digestive enzymes I've been searching and reading forums before posting these questions but can't seem to find any blogs or users mentioning incorporating the supplements into their whole 30. I am interested to see how it helped, enhanced or eliminated symptoms throughout the plan. Any comparisons for those who have done with and without? 2-6 digestive enzyme tablets per meal seems like a lot. I guess I am nervous about the effects of these new supplements. Also I have read that oral magnesium is harmful and had planned on taking oral form. Anyone find this not to be true? Any tips & help is greatly appreciated. I am excited to partake on my whole30 journey and cannot wait to see how I do and what is in store for me.
  4. Fiber Supplement

    I have been suffering from bowel and abdominal pain for 5 years and just two months ago I finally hit a combination of Senokot, Colace, and Metamucil that has me feeling much better. I just started on the Whole 30 and I am worried that cutting out the Metamucil will send me back into the pain cycle I just escaped. I checked out a couple of other fiber supplements without sugar but they are grain based. I read on another thread on this website that it is recommended to eat 10 cups of vegetables a day. As much as I love veggies I don’t think that is realistic. So my question is, is there any fiber supplement that is Whole 30 approved? If not, could I take just a teaspoon of Bene-fiber for example? Thanks in advance for your help.
  5. Hi, I just started Whole30 today and can't figure out if my Fish Oil supplement is compliant. Here's the ingredient list: Fish Oil, Gelatin, Vegetable Glycerin, Food Glaze, contains < 2% of Acetylated Mononglycerides, Mixed Natural Tocopherois, Polysorbate 80, Sodium Alginate. contains no artificial colors, flavor, or sweeter, no sugar, no starch, no milk, no lactose, no gluten, no wheat, no rest, no shellfish Thanks for your help!
  6. Moderators, I have a question for you. So I've been doing very well on my Whole30 so far. I'm almost halfway there. But I had a couple of accidental minor "infractions" that I wanted to ask you about. I recently ate a Larabar that I mistakenly thought was approved, but realized the fact that it wasn't because of vanilla extract in ingredients. Also, for the first week of my Whole30 I took 2 capsules daily of a high quality supplement that has in the ingredients "phosphatidylserine enriched soy lecithin" and on the label it also says "contains lecithin from soy". Do you think these accidental slips require starting over the Whole30? Or can I just keep going?
  7. I have used glutamine in the past for help with recovery. After starting the Whole 30 I started really checking into the labels of everything. My glutamine has an ingredient of neotame. After researching I find this is an artificial sweetener. So I contacted the company. They told me that there is such a little amount that is is used as a flavor enhancer NOT an artificial sweetener. Plus it is so minute it does not cause the body to produce any glycemic response. Therefore they claim there is not added sweeteners of any kind. Can use this?

    I'm wondering if I can still take Evening Primrose Oil whilst doing Whole30? I'm also wondering if I need to be taking any additional vitamins / fish oil etc while following the programme - can anyone offer me any advice please? I'm in the UK and many of the 'suggested' supplements I've seen online are USA based. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I was wondering if its ok to have Superlife smoothie mix in water? http://superlife.ie/product.asp?item_id=2 The ingredients are: Hemp, Maca, Lucuma, Cacao, Spirulina, Chlorella, Kelp, Barley Grass I think individually the ingredients are ok, as far as I can find anyway. I've had it in the past with water and I definately felt better in general and more enegetic and it was also easier to stick to my healthy eating plan while I was using it but that could have been all psychological. Is it ok to use something like this as a morning beverage?
  10. I'm on day 18 and woke up this morning excited to read my daily Whole30 email as I do every morning. Reading, reading, reading . . . get to the information about fish oil supplements, decide to check the supplements I've been taking and of course - SOY!!!! I'm so angry at myself for not checking these to start off with and so angry at the food/supplement industry for putting crap into everything! Supplements I've been taking: Nature Made Fish Oil 1200 mg, 360 mg omega-3 + vitamin D 1000 iu (1 a day) Nature Made CoQ10 100mg (1 a day) Restart required? I am assuming yes. grrrrrrr . . . .

    Greetings everyone - I apologize in advance if this topic has been touched on before, as I could not find it it other posts, but I am seeking others' input regarding CoQ10 supplementation. I'm not on a W30 right now, but follow a Primal dietary lifestyle otherwise. I am curious to know if eating a whole food lifestyle is providing enough of the nutrient alone, or is it recommended to also supplement as well? Also, how much is recommended on a daily basis for active individuals? If extra CoQ10 supplements are recommended, what brands do you like or are W30 compliant?
