  1. Free bones from the butcher??

Has anyone ever asked your supermarket butcher for beef or chicken bones to make homemade bone broth? I wonder if they would give them to customers for free? Or even for a reasonable price? I can find chicken broth that is compliant, but I'm having a hard time finding compliant beef broth that also doesn't have yeast (moderator Tom said some companies use yeast to hide msg from consumers). I'm finishing day 14 and feeling great! Still so much to learn though....
  2. Chicken broth didn't coagulate

Hi Folks, I cooked a batch of chicken broth and stirred it several times while it simmered, added some additional water toward the end, since so much had evaporated, and it has not coagulated, nor has the fat hardened on top. Is this still edible and useful for collagen/gelatin requirements of the body? I've got it out in the shed at 30 degrees now for a full day and no luck so far. please advise if this is edible, nutritionally sound, etc. or if I should toss it. Bummer any way you look at it! Thanks in advance for your input. Keep shining... Tom
  3. I read somewhere that Melissa has approved some sort of Collagen but I can't find where I read it. Can someone tell me what it was? Also, what brand of bone broth protein is recommended? I've never used either of these products but the little I have read they are supposed to help with leaky gut and healing the gut, is that correct? I have Celiac so I'm interested in anything that will promote faster healing. Ive been gluten free for almost 4 years but still deal with bloating, inflammation, gas and stomach pain on occasion. This has improved on my Whole 30, I am on day 20, but it's not totally gone.
  4. Vital Proteins PWO

Does anyone use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides PWO? Is it Whole30 approved? The only ingredient is pasture raised bovine hide collagen peptides. As a marathon runner, I'm looking for something to consume immediately after I finish my training runs. I've heard great things about Vital Proteins products, and I figure it won't cause my sugar dragon to flare up if I just mix it with some coconut water, since it has no flavor. Here's the link for reference: Thanks!
