    Non compliant food mixed in

I made stir fry for dinner last night when reintroducing non gluten grains. I accidentally mixed in whole baby corn with everything else. I meant to keep it separate. Can I just pick the corn out of the leftovers or should I avoid that all together so I don’t contaminate my results. Thanks!
  2. So I finished my Whole30 14 days ago, I managed the Reintroduction pretty well and slow but I went on a trip this weekend. I Wanted to stay as "healthy" as possible but --- ok here's the confession time... I had Pizza, Birthday Cake, Beer, some Tequila Shots and Whiskey, I also had some popcorn and a Muffin.. so yup... I Kinda fell of the wagon I mean the muffin and the popcorn were hangover consequences, I didn't feel any changes on my body on the weekend, just kinda bloated. I came back to the city and on Monday I was completely Whole30, but yesterday I went to the movies with a friend , I decided I was going to eat a whole bucket of popcorn (why not.....) caramel and butter popcorn... I ate the whole thing..and consequences where horrible. I felt I was going to explode, I was so tired througout the rest of the day.. My face started breaking out today , I couln't even sleep or wake up early... Ugh!!! I even noticed I had some new breakouts around the legs close to the .. uhmmm butt area. I'm not sure if it was a mix of the weekend and the popcorn but definitely popcorn didnt make me feel well, I mean i'm so gassy... tired and my appetite is kinda supressed.. so yup there goes popcorn. It's gonna be a while I guess till I decide to eat some again. I recently started reading "Full Freedom Forever" let's see how that goes...
  3. Hello! I wanted to post about my reintro so far. Day 1 of Reintro, on Saturday, I had a dried chickpea snack in the afternoon and a good portion of black beans with a shrimp salad at a Mexican restaurant, as well as some peanut butter that morning. The peanut butter affected me slightly, but the other legumes seemed to be just fine! Day 2, I had a bowl of brown rice and tuna for lunch. I saw on these boards that the brown rice can be harder to digest than white rice, but I seemed to be okay in digesting it. The one difference is how tired I felt afterward. I guess it was the carb load! I ended my day with some organic corn tortilla chips and salsa with friends...and I ate almost the whole bag! Yeah bad decision. But even when I first started I could tell the corn was hard to digest. I think I am going to try again with another round of gluten-free grains with real corn on Friday. We shall see how things go. So Far, corn has been the only issue. Before Whole 30, I had some digestive issues, so I am surprised to not have as strong of affects with the other foods I have tried thus far. The way everyone talks on this board and in general is that you have MAJOR affects, but I'm just not seeing it. I have LOVED doing the whole 30, and have seen all kinds of NSVs, but as I reintroduce, I am not seeing much of a difference. Thoughts? Finally, in a separate issue, I am starting my period soon. Would any moderators recommend doing reintro after menstruation? Would this be significant in detecting how different food groups affect me?

    Messed up on day 32

I finished up my Whole30 on Tuesday and started with non gluten grains yesterday, GF oatmeal, tortilla chips and tortillas and brown rice, a small tummy ache. Unsure if it was the tortillas or rice. Today I feel ok. I sort of could feel some of the old hunger come back that seemed blood sugar based Then I accidentally ate a dairy based salad dressing with lunch. Not much I could do about it. Then I had heartburn/tummy ache. What should I do now? Go back to Whole30 until I feel normal and reintroduce rice and corn on separate days? And then try dairy again? I think I already know the answer to this question but I thought I'd ask anyway Honestly, part of me feels like I should go back to W30 for about two more weeks because I didn't figure out some of the right mix of macros until day 27 or so and I'd like to get used to how that feels energy wise during the day and while training for a half. I'd also like to lose a little bit more body fat, but not my main goal. Any advice?

    Corn SILK tea?

Help! Corn is a grain, so it's out... but corn silk isn't a grain, it's part of the vegetation / corn flower. Thoughts?
  7. Hi Everyone, I'm on day 11 of my first whole thirty, and I have a question for those who may know more about food sensitivities and reactions than I do. I hope I'm not complicating the picture by mentioning that I've been vegetarian for over twenty years, but have eaten eggs regularly, on a daily basis for years and occasional fish (monthly). Now that I'm transitioning to the whole thirty I have been eating more fish (and different kinds), some chicken and bone broth, and lots of eggs. Before my whole thirty began I would eat one egg/day, and now I am eating three or more per day. And this curious thing has been happening: my head has been seriously itchy. I'm a grown woman and have two kids so we did a lice check because we've been "there" before, but nothing. My poor husband has "checked" my head every few days. I'm not using any new products or detergents or anything like that. Side story is that I have had a corn sensitivity for decades. I have avoided all corn starch, corn syrup, modified food starch, natural flavors, etc., anything that could contain corn. And I know if there's hidden corn in a product because I break out in serious acne pustules around my mouth, and get dry flaky skin, also around my mouth and chin. It really sucks and takes a couple of weeks to heal completely, so I truly avoid it. Back to day 11. I've had some minor acne and dry flaky skin since beginning the whole thirty which puzzled me, and of course, the seriously itchy scalp. The only link to corn (or these symptoms) that I can deduce is that the hens whose eggs I've been eating are fed with a diet of 60% corn. I emailed the farmer, and he replied with the above percentage. Also the eggs are organic and raised on a small family farm. Could the proteins from corn-fed hens somehow come through into the eggs? Is this possible? and then what about eating more meat -- aren't many animals fed with corn? I've thought of sticking to fish but then that wouldn't help my body in way red meat would by providing iron, B-12, etc., right? I guess the next step is to avoid eggs for a few days and see if it gets better? Has anyone else experienced something like this? Thanks for any advice!

    Corn - Not a grain

So, I have looked through and find that people are mistakenly calling corn a grain, when in fact botanists consider it a fruit. Is there other reasons that corn is banned from the whole30 program? Thanks

I know that corn is considered a grain for the W30 and is therefore out, but does this include fresh, local sweet corn? Fresh corn and tomatoes are probably my favorite foods of summer, so now that our farmers markets are flooding with corn, I'm having trouble justifying skipping it, considering I have such a short window to enjoy it. Would eating an ear mean that I'd have to start from Day 1 (it honestly may be worth it)?
  10. Hello all! I just finished reading It Starts with Food. I'm really intrigued by many of the ideas and my husband and I are transitioning our diet now. We are in the middle of moving so are going to start our actual Whole 30 when not moving. Understanding the norms helps me to make better choices. I've been shopping at our farmer's market and am very excited about the new summer veggies showing up. What I keep wondering about is Sweet corn versus another sweet and carb filled food like a sweet potato. I understand that the sugar spike and such can cause issues, but I'm not understanding why corn is that much worse for you. I'm referring to whole corn on the cob, not any of the derivatives of corn. I totally get why high fructose corn syrup is a problem. Thanks for helping to teach me!
  11. I've read many places that the sugar-free bacon from U.S. Wellness Meats is Whole30 approved. However, I saw on their website that their pigs eat corn and soy (some of it GMO). I thought corn- and soy-fed pork was off limits. I really want to buy some bacon from U.S. Wellness, but I just want to make sure that the Whole30 endorsement for their product is up-to-date. Can anyone shed some light on this?
  12. Could my corn (chip) reintro have ruined all my hard work??? Yesterday at lunch I had.some corn chips (less than a handful) and felt some immediate bloat. Then for dinner I was out at a Mexican restaurant and had some more. A lot more. Not that I didn't already know it, but corn chips are definitely a food w/out brakes for me. Felt bloated last night (within an hour of eating them) from them. Don't know if it was the corn or the sheer volume of chips I consumed at dinner. At least they were accompanied by some guacamole and a skirt steak salad. Yum! Also had a cocktail of lime juice, vodka, tequila, agave and.cilantro (amazing, btw and I thought it a better choice than a glutentastic beer). Today I am feeling fine after my corn chip escapade but my stomach is extremely bloated. From the side it looks like I never did the Whole 30 and like I never lost 8 inches around my waist. Will it go down again with compliant eating?! Feeling like I ruined all my hard work. It hasn't triggered me to want to go off track today, but I am annoyed that I ate so many chips and that now my stomach feels enormous.
