  1. 2nd whole 30

    Hi, This is Michelle.. I am starting my second whole 30 the first one I did in July.. Then I waited two months to see how it was going with food to see if I needed to work on some things.. Well I know now I cant eat wheat or corn.. But I feel like there is another culprit in the mix just have not pin pointed it as of yet.. But I hope to do so on this round.. I have no problems following the program. I only took out wheat and corn. I didn't really add sugar back in. Figured I was doing good without it and didn't need it.. I lost 3" around my waist first time hoping in this round I will be able to loose even more inches.. I'm glad I found this program it is the only one that has worked for me so far so good... Believe me I have done just about every diet out there over the years. I would loose a little but it always come back but the first time I used whole30 was in July and it is now October and I haven't gained any back.. I am just at a standing point where I havent lost any more..
  2. Hi! I started my Whole30 journey this Monday and wanted to introduce myself. Although I do not have any (at least up to now) food intolerances or problems healthwise, I joined to change my relationship with food, so that I would not use sweets and potato chips as comfort food or eat them to kill boredom while watching TV. I also hope to lose a few kilos in the process. Today is day 4, and leaving out bread is actually what I dreaded the most, but works quite fine at the moment. I seldom use diary products, so I'm good so far. The only thing that still clings to my mind is white chocolate. I can almost taste it in my mouth!!!! Something positive I've noticed: I do not wake up with puffy eyes in the morning (I hope this is not a temporary effect) and I feel quite full after eating my meals.
  3. Hi! First time Whole30er here on Day 4. So many words and thoughts, but one pressing question: is it normal to feel like you flat cannot focus at first? I have ADHD and recently started taking medication (after years of holding out). I've been so pleased with how much more I'm able to focus and get things done since I started the medication, and this week I have felt like I couldn't finish anything to save my life. I just need to hear that this is maybe normal for some people with ADHD, and that I'll eventually get back to getting things done again...
  4. I just completed day 4 with almost no side effects at all. Some of my body stuff has been different (but not in a bad way), and I've had slightly less energy, but otherwise I've had no other symptoms besides some pretty powerful cravings. Maybe this is very paranoid of me, but... Am I doing something wrong?! It seems like people oftentimes have a terrible adjustment period, whereas I seem to have almost no physiological complications. The program is a moderate change in diet for me. Before, I was eating without dairy, most grains (still had rice on occasion), and some sugars (honey, maple syrup, stevia). Cutting out legumes was the only thing I've never done before, but it hasn't been too much of a problem. I would admit that I'm likely having more fruit than what is recommended, but I am definitely eating much more other nutrients, especially fats and the great stuff in veggies (eating veggies with every meal is definitely new for me!!). I would love some feedback on this. Thanks!
  5. This is my first Whole30, and I was super pumped to start. I set my start date the day after my bachelorette party/shower weekend with just under two months until our wedding. Perfect timing..no events until the actual wedding. Problem is that Monday (day one) I woke up to a terrible sore throat, cough, and sinus pressure. It's continued now for 4 days (today is actually the worst). I've taken elderberry syrup and have eaten lots of pineapple (I read that helps with a cough). Second problem is that I've had ZERO appetite. Kale and eggs are the last thing that sound good while I'm sick. I've been eating potatoes, lara bars, fruit, and TRYING to down some chicken sausage with spinach and some greens, but I know I'm not getting enough of a variety. So my question is... Am I doing myself more harm than good? I REALLY want to complete the process without starting over (especially since I'm in a time crunch), but I also don't want to harm my body by not giving it enough nutrient dense foods.
  6. I am on day 4 of whole 30 and woke up this morning feeling nauseated. the thought of any food at all was unbearable. Spent most of morning lying in bed between bouts of diarrhea and vomiting (dry heaving as nothing actually came up). Rest of day feels as if i have been hit by a truck - headache, joint pain, still nauseous, cold, exhausted. Up till now, first three days were awesome. Only thing i could stomach today has been about 15 red grapes, one boiled egg, and green tea. i'm hoping this is normal? Just wanted to hear if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks!
  7. Hi Everyone, This is Day 4 of my first official Whole30! So far, so good, but I'm curious to know if anyone has any tips for avoiding temptation in a household where I'm the only one doing the challenge. Husband and kiddos eat healthy, but not fully paleo. Basically, on the nights that I cook dinner I'm making a meal for me and a separate one for everyone else. I've managed to swing it so that it's complimentary so far (e.g. I'll make Whole30 approved meat sauce and pasta for everyone else and zucchini noodles for me.); however, it's only Day 4 and I can see that this could start to get a little exhausting. Is anyone else in the same situation? If so, any tips or advice? Thanks in advance! -Keegan P.S. I am loving the daily emails! They are spot on with what I've been feeling/craving. Nice way to start each day.
  8. No Sleep- Day 4

    The past three days I've been struggling with my sleeping patterns and when I do get sleep I've still been feeling just as tired. Before W30 I fell asleep easily at the end of each day, but now I'lll lay for hours restless. It may be from strenuous exercises such as gymnastics, 4k running and (at my level!) crossfit this week which I dont usually have time for (its now the school holidays). It could possibly be just the "hangover" that i'm experiencing, but my sleeping patterns are off too so im not sure. I've been eating a pretty balanced diet I think, yesterday I had: for breakfast; sanchoybau (compliant, don't worry), with one boiled egg and a banana for lunch; roast potato, sweet potato, carrot, pumpkin w/ zucchini, beans and fish. snacks; 2 strawberries and one mandarin, a handful of almonds and goji berries for dinner; i had a huge plate of roasted potato, sweet potato, pumpkin, eggplant, cabbage, broccoli, pork, beef, zucchini, beans, sweet peas and crackling with 2 strawberries after. (I don't usually have this much fruit or roasted foods!) hope I posted in the right section, Thanks.
  9. Small Victory!

    Today marks day 4 of my first Whole 30! I was recently diagnosed with IBS (and those of you who have it know it is not quite a real diagnosis), so I decided to begin the Whole 30! One of my symptoms of IBS is becomming nauseous when I get hungry. This morning, only day four, I felt real hunger for the first time in almost 2 years! My stomach growled and everything! This might seem like a small victory to most, but for me, it is life changing! I suggest everyone with IBS to start the Whole30 becuase it is already changing my life 4 days in!
  10. Eating too much?

    Hey everybody. I am a first time whole30 and doing okay with it other than being underprepared. I was reading the book and it said something like, "now is the time to start....join the forum....do it now!" i am trying to learn to accept guidance so I did. In retrospect they might have meant get started on "planning" my whole30. I do have particular food cravings, being that my wife's food is still in the house. O'well day four is where I am at. I remember reading something about,"make sure you eat the suggested amounts as your body might still be lying to you." I feel like I am eating too much. Do I listened to my body at this point? Scott
  11. I started this lifestyle change September 1st and I am exhausted. I had a full 9 hours of sleep last night and I am still sleepy!! Since I've started, today was the first day I have experienced sleepiness. After reading blogs and other comments I now know its normal. I wish there was somthing I could do! Is anyone else feeling this way?!
  12. I'm on day 4 of my whole30. I was 50% paleo and 50% SAD before this. The last several days my daughter (2 months) has had SEVERE gas pains. It's awful and I hate seeing her so uncomfortable. Could this be related to my whole 30? I worry about detoxing through my breastmilk
  13. I think I've had this problem since before starting the whole30, but I find that I'm not really hungry... I had breakfast at 8.30 am this morning, and its 3 pm now and I'm having lunch simply because its time to have lunch, I could have gone by without it. I do want to eat (and I guess that since I can't snack or eat other things while on the whole30 I cooked myself lunch) but I'm not really hungry. Should I still eat when this is the case? I don't think I'm eating a lot to justify fullness... (this is a link to my food log so far). Thanks in advance!
  14. Today is my Day 4

    I just joined the Whole 30 and i am so excited to go through this process. I have Ulcerative Colitis and have had my colon removed so I am very excited for a eating plan that will actually work for me. I'd love any advice from anyone else that is trying to follow the Whole 30 with IBS or IBD....
