  1. I am on Day 12 of my whole 30 and loving it, but there is one problem....I am going broke to pay for it! I am working part time and don't make much money. I think I am spending about $100 on food per week. I buy almost all of my meats and eggs at costco to save money. I always get organic, which price-wise is not much more than conventional. I also go for the cheaper one- whole chickens, ground beef, ground turkey. Most weeks I stop at the farmers market to stock up on veggies. I pay close attention to the prices and if I can get an organic fruit or vegetable at the grocery store cheaper, I will get it at Trader ;oe's instead. I have found that for the most part, farmers market has the best prices. For anything I can't find at costco or farmers market, I go to trader joes (spices, olive oil, frozen veggies, chicken sausage.) I am probably not even eating enough vegetables, but I can barely afford the foods I am eating now. I should also add that I love in California, so it might be more expensive here than other parts of the country. How much do you spend on groceries? Any tips on saving some money?
  2. I’m on day 3 of my first Whole30 and I’m feeling great! However, I’ve been seeing some mixed messages on what I can and cannot eat as a pescatarian on the Whole30. Are legumes and tempeh allowed for the vegetarian Whole30? Also, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the meal preparation. I’m not the most confident cook. Does anyone have some super simple recipes?

    SOS- Grocery Stores

Hello!! I'm starting the Whole 30 this weekend and couldn't be more excited!! I just moved to downtown Nashville so my grocery store options are Kroger, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Publix! (Maybe a fresh market too). Where does everyone have the best luck finding the tougher products like clarified butter and clean meats, etc? In other words, which store should I go to first for my first big shopping trip? Looking forward to feedback!
  4. Hi, my name is Stephanie and I'm a sugar addict. No seriously... I don't remember an entire day that I have gone without chocolate EVER. Until yesterday, which was my very first day on the Whole 30. This is my first Whole 30 and I have been doing research and reading "It Starts With Food" and the "Whole 30" book for over a month before I decided I would start Jan. 2, 2016. My first day went surprisingly well. Despite my constant cravings and my sugar dragon ROARING all day, I did it and I felt AWESOME doing it! I was, however, a terrible planner. I went to Whole Foods that morning to buy ingredients for Day 1 recipes... which cost $70... 3 meals... $70. So for all you veterans and Whole 30 pros out there.. Where do you grocery shop and how to make it more affordable? sheesh. So day 1 went well, and then I "woke" up. I put "woke" in quotes because I hardly slept last night. I was tossing and turning all night with a slight headache. IS THIS NORMAL? So for anyone who has done this before or experienced some of the things I have, I'm asking for advice! I'm also looking for support because I have two roommates; and one is a functioning alcoholic who eats dominos every day, and the other is a firm believer in sugary carbs for breakfast lunch and dinner followed by more sugar for dessert. So if anyone else is on this journey with me, I'd love to connect! Newbie, veteran, anyone! I just woke up to day 2 and I'm ready to start my day! YEAH!
