  1. One of the most common questions here on the forum is, what can I eat for breakfast? Maybe it's someone used to eating pancakes or pop tarts or just coffee or nothing at all, or maybe it's someone who's been eating eggs and is tired of them or wants to try the AIP protocol that doesn't allow eggs, but most people at some point during a Whole30 wonder about this. I thought maybe we could have a thread about unusual but tasty breakfast options that we could direct people to when they ask. So, if you eat the kind of breakfast that makes your non-W30 friends think you're weird, things that aren't your standard eggs and bacon or sausage combos, tell us about them here. If you want to show pictures, go for it. (Posts showing or describing obviously non-Whole30 foods like paleo pancakes, fauxtmeal, or coconut yogurt-fruit-nut creations will be deleted without warning. Please stick to meals that meet the meal template.) I'll get us started here -- this morning, I had leftover braised round steak, belly dance beet salad, and crisp sweet collards with pecans and raisins. So what did you have for your Meal1 this morning?
  2. I know breakfast has been discussed to death on the forum, but I have to ask in a specific context if anyone has any ideas. Pretty much all my adult life I have experienced morning nausea (no I am not pregnant is my mantra). It seems to be tied to dehydration- although I drink around 60oz of water per day which is sufficient for my body weight and I drink water first thing when I wake up, before coffee or anything else. It may be related to medication, can't say for sure and can't really test that. The result is I have no appetite in the morning and food grosses me out. My first whole 30 I did a lot of eggs for breakfast but I got burnt out by week 3 and now I can't even look at eggs. Then I tried doing a template meal- veg, meat, fat- and that sometimes works but most of the time makes me gag or worse and I can't get it down. I know I need to eat in the morning- not just because of the rules but for my body's best health, but I just can't seem to find anything appetizing in that first hour. Has anyone else dealt with morning sickness/ extreme food aversion in the morning? Any thoughts on gentle compliant breakfast ideas without eggs? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hello fellow Whole30ers, Here's my dilemma. First, let me be clear in that I'm embracing the 'let's not call it breakfast' and instead refer to it as 'Meal 1' thing... - I don't necessarily want to eat eggs every day of the week (I think they make me bloat - so sad) - I'm gagging on most other Whole30 compliant meals first thing in the morning. Literally gagging. This morning I was choking my way through Melissa Joulwan's Sunrise Scramble (sorry Melissa - I still think you're awesome!), and ditto when I gave up on that and tried salmon cakes (with veg). I've had similar issues with eating leftovers from Meal 3 for Meal 1 -- my stomach just can't handle the spices/flavours in a lot of them first thing in the morning. A couple of other points possibly of note: - I'm on Day 19 - Prior to Whole30, I would have spinach smoothies with small amount of fruit (1/4 cup) and Vega protein powder for Meal 1, and they did well by me. I've been really struggling with Meal 1 for over a week -- any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
