  1. I have suffered from chronic yeast infections for over a year and was prescribed flucanazole medicine to take as needed when I experience flare ups. I’m on day 7 of whole 30 and definitely think I have an infection (Burning, discharge, etc). Is it okay to take that medicine?
  2. I am beginning my Whole30 in a matter of days but am taking a necessary psychiatric prescription medication that I have already gained about 20 pounds on since February. The main issues I am experiencing in relation to this medication are an increased appetite and occasionally intense sweet cravings. Does anyone have similar experience with this type of problem? I am looking for advice on how to prevent and/or manage intense food cravings and hunger during my Whole30.
  3. I am in day 10 and getting the Flu. Is there any restrictions on over the counter meds, that I can use before I become a snotty, angry mess?
  4. I had to have oral surgery yesterday, and I'm on antibiotics. Yesterday I felt Ok (other than my mouth), and I took a codeine that was prescribed by my doctor for the pain at 11:00 pm and went to bed. I woke up around 7 and felt fine, but then started to get dizzy while checking my phone. I took a wobenzym (plant based enzymes for joints). By the time I had roasted a yam and boiled eggs, I was hungry, so I was planning on eating breakfast. But when I was peeling the eggs, I felt so nauseous and dizzy again, I had to sit down. My sister in law, who is an MD, told me that I should eat something with salt and I should feel better. I had called her because I was worried I shouldn't have taken the wobenzym with the antibiotic and codeine from the night before. But she said it should be fine. So I choked down my breakfast of egg, bone broth, and yam. That's all I could get down. ugh. I had a normal lunch (butternut squash soup with extra beef and onions, spinach, and riced cauliflower with 1/2 avocado, lime juice and fresh herbs). But I've been feeling nauseous ALL day. I'm not taking any more pain meds. My mouth isn't that bad. It's practically been 24 hours. I've never reacted to codeine like this in the past. Or the wobenzym. I'm wondering if I'm more sensitive now that I have been eating so clean - I'm on day 13. Has anyone else had this experience? Also, this is the first time since I started the whole30 that I have cravings. I'm craving plain crackers, bread like things because of the nausea. I feel like I'm in my 1st trimester again! Anyway, haven't given in - just been sipping my water steeped in some fresh ginger. It's not working though...
  5. I would like to be sure that natural/herbal/homeopathic remedies (with one form of sugar) and diluted with Brandy (yes... that alcohol...) are allowed while doing the Whole30. I read what the books tell about taking prescribed medication by doctors , but in this case it also has added alcohol and it is the persons choice to take it. Some say "yes", because at the end of the 30 days, there was not much alcohol ingestion, some say "leave it for 30 days, if you can stay without it"... So, what to do? I think that if taken by a persons choice, than it´s not allowed, but when prescribed as a "must" for a treatment, then yes. I also heard that "if you can have alcohol vinegar, than you can surely add a few drops to your medication". So, what would be allowed in the program in this case? Thank you in advance!
  6. I'm starting my first Whole30 in a week and I have a couple questions I want to figure out before then. I've searched the forum and couldn't find answers, but forgive me if they have already been asked. 1) I take several supplements (calcium+D, ferrous sulfate, vitamin) that list "starch" in the ingredients. Does anyone know what type of starch this likely is? Since it doesn't specify corn starch, can I assume that it's not? 2) Another ingredient in several of my supplements is polyethylene glycol. I know this is technically an alcohol, but it seem like it is included in almost all supplements. Is this allowed? Thanks in advance!
  7. I'm having horrible dizzy spells today. I've eaten breakfast and have had coffee. All within the last hour. I had a few spells yesterday but again, it was after lunch. I'm eating enough. I wonder if this warrents a trip to my doctor to see if I can come off my BP meds? I'm looking for my BP cuff so I can take it but I'm losing that battle.

    ADHD Problems

I have ADHD and the medication that I take Suppresses my hunger. I started the whole30 a couple days ago and it hasn't been to hard to control my cravings because i've been taking my medication. Yesterday I didn't take it and all I could think about was food, and I had so many cravings! Im not sure if I should continue to take my medication or not. The only problem with me not taking my medication is that its harder for me to concentrate and school starts next week. HELP!!

    vitamins & prescription meds

Hi out there! I cannot believe how I stumbled upon this program through a comment post for Larabar on amazon. So I just had to learn more & here I am all set to start on Aug 1. Now for my question: Is it okay to take vitamins (that don't contain imitation sugar) as well as medically prescribed medications? I have been gluten-free for awhile, except when I was on vacation & boy did I notice the difference then! So I am familiar to those allowable foods. Am I to assume then that absolutely no grains that are gluten free are allowed? My last question: Am I allowed to have rice?

So I struggle with headaches, have all my life. I knew a change in diet would cause headaches and I am trying to hold off taking stuff, but yesterday I did. Man that stuff works ( Excedrin is asprin, tylenol, caffeine) But I know it isn't good for my body and want to avoid it. What do you folks do if you have a headache. Thoughts? I'm also recovering from a cold virus and downed some elderberry syrup on day 2 (I'm just on day 4 ) It doesn't have added sugar but MAN IS IT SWEET! How do remedies and OTC meds work on the whole30?
