  1. I had to have oral surgery yesterday, and I'm on antibiotics. Yesterday I felt Ok (other than my mouth), and I took a codeine that was prescribed by my doctor for the pain at 11:00 pm and went to bed. I woke up around 7 and felt fine, but then started to get dizzy while checking my phone. I took a wobenzym (plant based enzymes for joints). By the time I had roasted a yam and boiled eggs, I was hungry, so I was planning on eating breakfast. But when I was peeling the eggs, I felt so nauseous and dizzy again, I had to sit down. My sister in law, who is an MD, told me that I should eat something with salt and I should feel better. I had called her because I was worried I shouldn't have taken the wobenzym with the antibiotic and codeine from the night before. But she said it should be fine. So I choked down my breakfast of egg, bone broth, and yam. That's all I could get down. ugh. I had a normal lunch (butternut squash soup with extra beef and onions, spinach, and riced cauliflower with 1/2 avocado, lime juice and fresh herbs). But I've been feeling nauseous ALL day. I'm not taking any more pain meds. My mouth isn't that bad. It's practically been 24 hours. I've never reacted to codeine like this in the past. Or the wobenzym. I'm wondering if I'm more sensitive now that I have been eating so clean - I'm on day 13. Has anyone else had this experience? Also, this is the first time since I started the whole30 that I have cravings. I'm craving plain crackers, bread like things because of the nausea. I feel like I'm in my 1st trimester again! Anyway, haven't given in - just been sipping my water steeped in some fresh ginger. It's not working though...
  2. Help. I feel so poorly.

Hello all I'm at the end of day 5 and am struggling so bad. I'm so tired and achy. My tummy is extremely upset with IBS and I've had constant diarrhoea and nausea. I just can't face food at all and am giving half my meals away. I have Autoimmune problems so not sure if also flaring which is exacerbating things. I realised at first it was probably that I had upped my fruit, especially to quell sugar cravings so I've cut it out. I thought I was winning then tonight it's been so bad again. I have a sneaky suspicion I have an intolerance of eggs. I really don't want to give up and most of the time am ok. Help me please with things to try and protein sources. vicki
  3. I've been playing sports and working out for most of my life (I'm 26 and in pretty good shape). I've always had low blood pressure and my blood sugar fluctuates a lot, but there's nothing actually wrong with me. If I workout in the morning either on an empty stomach or with a snack before I feel fine. But, anytime I workout at night -- easy exercise or hard exercise -- I feel nauseous and weak about 30 minutes afterwards. It doesn't go away unless I go to sleep or eat a simple carb like toast and jelly and a rice krispy. Then I feel better. I've tried eating hard boiled eggs and turkey and guacamole based on Whole30 recommendations and it does not work. Does anyone else have this problem? I've had it for years but doctors never find anything wrong with me. Some days I can't make it to the gym in the morning so this frustrates me. Thanks.
  4. I started Monday, April 17, after "Last Suppers" and "Last bag of chips." Until today, I felt fine, nourished. Today, I have had a round of vomiting, loose poo's and a frontal lobe headache. I can't do my work! How do I break out of this? When the nausea stops, what do I eat? I'm in my 60s, so not pregnant. One other note: I was a mostly-vegetarian, so I'm facing not used to so much meat. I've had pork and chicken in addition to eggs. Help! Helen G.
  5. Hi - First off, thank you for manning the forum and helping me complete my Whole30! Greatly appreciated. Secondly, I searched the forum but couldn't find an entry that matched my question so I hope I’m not missing something…. I'm on day 5 of the Whole 30. I ate pretty clean before starting (no refined sugar but honey and maple syrup, no caffeine, some carbs, but I did eat dairy). I had the stomach flu 4 days before I started the Whole 30 and am having the following problems now: Not sleeping well at all. I LOVE to sleep but I am having a hard time falling asleep at night and staying asleep even though I’m tired during the day. Days 1-3 I felt pretty good but had a bit of nausea randomly throughout the day and felt a bit weak Day 4 I felt really tired and pretty weak (as in I normally can carry around my 30lb toddlers no problem but I got tired just picking them up). I have had a really low appetite and having a hard time finishing all of my food Day 5 (today) I’m beat. I have a slight headache, but it’s the nausea, diarrhea and lack of appetite that seems odd to me. For breakfast I’ve been eating at least 2 eggs, compliant bacon or sausage, ½ a sweet potato, and fruit. For lunch I try to eat a green salad with lots of veggies, eggs, grilled chicken and an apple with cashew butter (or whatever was leftover from dinner the night before) For dinner I eat either fish or meat and a veggie and fruit or green salad. I’m just not very hungry or excited about any foods that I’m eating, so I’m not getting much food in. Do you have any thoughts on what could be causing the diarrhea, lack of appetite, nausea and sleeplessness? Are these normal whole 30 side effects on day 5? Thank you for your input! Amy
  6. Hi guys! Doing the whole30 for the first time- my eating habits were so terrible that I had diarrhea at least once a day- my body even stopped being able to absorb my birth control pill causing multiple periods and spotting. I started the Whole30 on monday and have had consistent stomach cramps and nausea since starting, especially at night- uncomfortable enough to wake me up. Is this normal? Any remedies?
  7. I know breakfast has been discussed to death on the forum, but I have to ask in a specific context if anyone has any ideas. Pretty much all my adult life I have experienced morning nausea (no I am not pregnant is my mantra). It seems to be tied to dehydration- although I drink around 60oz of water per day which is sufficient for my body weight and I drink water first thing when I wake up, before coffee or anything else. It may be related to medication, can't say for sure and can't really test that. The result is I have no appetite in the morning and food grosses me out. My first whole 30 I did a lot of eggs for breakfast but I got burnt out by week 3 and now I can't even look at eggs. Then I tried doing a template meal- veg, meat, fat- and that sometimes works but most of the time makes me gag or worse and I can't get it down. I know I need to eat in the morning- not just because of the rules but for my body's best health, but I just can't seem to find anything appetizing in that first hour. Has anyone else dealt with morning sickness/ extreme food aversion in the morning? Any thoughts on gentle compliant breakfast ideas without eggs? Thanks in advance.
  8. I'm on day 19 and a couple of days ago I started feeling occasional mild nausea and lightheadedness. I'm drinking 70-90 oz of water a day, salting my food, and adding fat to all my meals. It doesn't happen at any predictable time (like when I'm hungry, or only after eating). Otherwise I am feeling good, I have more energy during the day, have had no stomach issues or bloating since starting the whole30 (which I used to get on a semi-regular basis). I'm exclusively nursing my baby, so eating 4-5x a day (3-4 meals a snack). Heres what I've had so far today: Day 19 20oz water M1: chicken sausage, broccoli with ghee, 1/2 avocado, 12oz water Coffee & 20oz water M2: chicken sausage, 2 eggs, salad, evoo, balsamic, sweet potato, baba ganoush 20oz water Coconut water - 11 oz Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on what to do differently?
  9. I'm on day 7 and I have had no appetite since day 1. Because of this, I'm a little worried I'm not eating enough because I also get nausea and headaches every day. Is there a way to increase appetite or adjust meals to make sure I'm eating what nutrients I need? I'm kind of tired of feeling bleh/sick every day. Here's an example of what I might eat in a day: breakfast: hash browns cooked in ghee with apple chicken sausage (breakfast is a huge struggle and I have to kind of choke it down lol) lunch: half a large apple, 3-4 strawberries, ~1/2 tbs sunbutter, -1 tbs pistachios, 3 slices deli turkey dinner: pecan crusted chicken breast pan fried in olive oil, spaghetti squash or potatoes and carrots, small serving of fruit I've been trying to increase veggie intake but I really don't like most vegetables (texture issues) and it's even harder to force myself to eat them when I'm not even hungry. I've been needing a snack (usually a banana) between lunch and dinner. My lunch break is at 11:30 am. Any help would be much appreciated!
  10. I am on day 26 of Whole30 and I am feeling the WORST I've felt the entire time despite a strict adherence to the rules. The first week I felt okay, the second week was a little rough at the beginning, but then I felt great. Late into the third week and now as I am nearly finished on my fourth week I feel awful. Headaches of varying degrees every day and now terrible stomach aches often accompanied by nausea. I NEVER got headaches prior to Whole30, NEVER. I haven't introduced anything new into my diet that I wasn't eating before and I am eating at least 4 times a day if not more. I had a super comprehensive food allergy test done prior to starting Whole30 so I know I'm not eating foods that I have issues with. I have been hydrating like crazy. The only thing that has changed that I can point to is Whole30. I was expecting to feel even better than I did at the start of week 3, not significantly worse. I'm not running a fever or feeling poorly otherwise. Has ANYONE else had this issue? I was planning to keep going for another 30 days while my parents do their first Whole 30 but I am not going to stick with it if I just feel like crap all the time.
  11. I'm new here, and I'm doing a pre-Whole30 trial run - I plan to do my first Whole30 after a Valentine's Day getaway. I'm trying out some of the recipes in advance - to get a feel for the cooking times, and to pre-plan some meal strategies. I made some chicken bone broth (from a roasted chicken carcass and the rest of the ingredients from the Whole30 recipe.) The broth smells good - but I can hardly bear to drink it! It makes me nauseous and I've had to run to the bathroom after drinking it (up until today - today just nausea and headache). I've added a little salt and a drop of Tabasco to the broth, and I can get it down easier that way. I've been eating Whole30 compliant for about a week - meals without the broth are delicious and satisfying. Is my digestive system just that messed up that it can't handle the broth yet? (I do know my digestive system is in need of healing - I have IBS and GERD and type 2 diabetes) - or maybe there is something wrong with this batch of broth? (I would have thought it would smell bad if it was off?..?)
  12. On day 4 and been having a bit of trouble with my stomach. After almost every meal (lunch in particular), I've been either getting a super upset stomach and/or feeling really nauseous. Breakfast is normally two hard boiled eggs, lunch has been grilled chicken with raw veggies (cucumber, carrots, pepper, etc) with compliant homemade vinagarette and dinner has been either grilled chicken with cooked potatoes (sweet potato and regular) with grilled asparagus or scrambled eggs, homemade salsa, avocado and potato. Any suggestions on things I need to add or change?
  13. Oh, my tummy...

I'm on Day 6 and so far so good. However, yesterday and today I'm so nauseous. It's from my seasonal allergies, which lead to post-nasal drip, which lead to an upset stomach. It happens a few times a year. I know it's not related to Whole 30 but the problem is that my go-to relievers aren't allowed. I usually have a little ginger ale and/or some saltines and it helps settle my stomach but obviously I can't do that. What do you guys do if you have an upset stomach that is compliant with the plan?
  14. Hello all! I am on day 11 of my first ever Whole30. Since day 2 I have experienced extreme nausea. I haven't vomited but have definitely had an upset stomach everyday, for most of the day. What I've eaten the past few days are below. Any insight is greatly appreciated as I would like to start feeling good. My water intake is anywhere from 72 to 96 oz. I am pouring myself one cup of black coffee around 8:00 am but have yet to actually finish a cup (usually finish about half). Monday, 5/9 Breakfast (6:30 am): 2 salted hard boiled eggs, 2 sausage (made from ground turkey) patties, 4 cherry tomatoes, 8 grapes Lunch (11:30 am): 2 cups of the chicken primavera from the Whole30 book, (I had two side of veggies too but am totally drawing a blank of what they were) Snack (4:30 pm): RxBar Dinner (6:15 pm): Melissa's Chicken Hash from the Whole30 book - only a few bites because the nausea was pretty strong Note: nausea started around 4:30 pm and continued until about 9:00 pm Yesterday, 5/10 Breakfast (6:30 am): 3 salted hard boiled eggs, 4 cherry tomatoes, 8 grapes Lunch (11:30 am): Strip steak, 1 cup of sweet potatoes, .5 cup broccoli Snack (4:15 pm): Apple and Larabar Dinner (8:00 pm): 10 shrimp, salad - 50/50 spring mix, tomato, diced peppers, half an avocado Note: nausea started a couple hours after lunch and continued into the night around 9 pm it was stomach pain until I went to bed (around 10:00 pm) Today Breakfast (6:30 am): 4 salted hard boiled eggs, 2 cherry tomatoes, 8 grapes Lunch (12:00 pm): Carnitas bowl from Chipotle (carnitas - double meat, guacamole, pico de gallo, romaine lettuce) (this is my first time eating out since beginning Whole30) Note: nausea started around 1:15 pm Any insight is appreciated! Thank you in advance, Christine
  15. Hi, I have been doing super well on the Whole 30 so far. Feeling great and completly enjoying it. I have not had any negative side affects at all but being cranky one day about three days in. This morning, I woke up feeling fine and then immediately started feeling nauseaus and vomitting. It has not gone away. Any ideas to what this may be? Please help!
  16. So I did my first Whole40 back in October and instantly discovered a FODMAP issue, so I avoided those foods as much as I could to avoid the diarrhea, stomach pain and nausea that followed. Then I went travelling after my Whole40 was complete and took probiotics and digestive enzymes on a daily basis to help me digest the foods I would have to eat. This seemed to have worked relatively well, but I didn't like having to depend on supplements to eat. When I returned, I tried to return to a Whole30 diet and continued on the probiotics, but was terrible constipated (up to 6 days without a bm). I have stopped on the probiotics, but my stomach has returned to the flushing everything through me method as soon as I eat it, accompanied by more nausea and stomach pains. Along with avoiding FODMAPS, I've been finding that my stomach now cannot digest things like coconut milk, vinegars, almost all fruit, and the list goes on. Even if I eat the smallest amount of these foods, I can feel it just go right through me. It's like my body can't digest anything with even the remotest amount of sugar, carb or even too much oil. The past couple days I've been drinking a teaspoon of kombucha and it's literally jammed my insides and given so much pain. I just find it weird that all of these foods, even fodmap foods affect me, when they never have in the past. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what could be going on with my insides?
  17. I'm on day 8 today! It's going okay, except every morning I feel very hungry as soon as I wake, but when breakfast is ready I have no appetite and feel sick (I try to eat within the hour, toddler permitting). Then I'm hungry again 2 hours later. What's going on? I've been mostly having 3 eggs with ghee and veggies for breakfast.
  18. I completed a Whole30 a few weeks ago and until Sunday I had not reintroduced any forbidden foods, except for occasional small amounts of cane sugar, and at least one serving of non-compliant oil. On Sunday I purposely consumed wheat as my first official reintro. I didn't start the reintroduction until around dinner time, so I ate several servings of wheat at once, in the form of two pieces of bread, a small serving of pasta, and a serving of pot roast cooked in a beer-based sauce. Since that meal, I have returned to Whole30 eating. Sunday evening I noticed a headache but this did not surprise me since I often have tension headaches. However, not only has the headache continued on and off since then, but it has been accompanied by intermittent nausea ranging from mild to quite bad this morning. Interestingly, eating (Whole30 meals) seems to help with the symptoms. I have no history of migraines. Is it possible that there is a connection between the wheat and my intermittent headaches and nausea? If so, is it unsurprising that I would still be experiencing these effects almost three days out?
  19. Hi, I'm on day 7 of my whole30 and feel progressively worse everyday. I started for 2 reasons - 1. I have ulcerative colitus, and am looking for a way to control it though diet and 2. though years of flares, I've become overly reliant on carbs and sugar for energy - time I've spent feeling so unwell that the only thing that appeals is jelly on toast, and I think that's had a psychological effect on my 'need' for carbs and sugar. (Worth noting, though, that I was no flaring when I started). But I just feel awful and so frustrated. I'm training for a marathon, and I suck at running since I started. I feel constantly light headed and sick, and because nothing else appeals I'm eating too many nuts and dried fruit (I know, I know - tell me how to stop). My stomach feels almost as bad as when I'm having a UC flare, and I look about 5 months pregnant. Plus, I live in Greece i.e. carb and legume heaven. It is *so* hard to find complient food here - and I cannot get my hands on a sweet potato no matter how hard I look. (On the plus side, incredible olive oil!!) I'm searching for some tips, some encouragement, reasssurance that I'll feel better soon, because I am so close to just throwing in the towel, eating some jam and bread and actually being able to enjoy my long run today... Thanks all.
  20. Good evening! I wanted to start whole 30 in hopes of helping relieve some of the chronic ailments I have and I have read many posts on how this program actually helped reduce symptoms. My husband and I started this past weekend; but due to my fibromyalgia and various other ailments, I have chronic, irretractable nausea accompanied by chronic vomiting. As such, in the past three days, I have remained whole 30 compliant but my food intake has been extremely limited... I am starting to worry that I will not get the benefits associated with this program simply because if my inability to hold food down most days. Any suggestions on a micro level whole 30? Specific food I should really focus on?. I constantly hydrate (even before), I am nibbling in raw veggies the most over the past three days, but have no idea how to tackle this with the nausea issues. Any ideas is greatly appreciated!
  21. Hi everyone, It's day 4 and I feel awful. Maybe it was the kumbucha i've been drinking, maybe I'm not getting enough protein...but my life-force dwindling. My gut feels like it's undergoing severe changes, my mood is bitch on wheels, i am so sleepy and really do want to KILL ALL THINGS. my meal plans have been good so far: Tuesday: Steak Salad (prepare chicken) Wednesday: Coconut cream and indian spiced Chicken drumsticks with broc and sweet potatoes Thursday: Stir fry pork and veggies with cauliflower rice (brine wings) Friday: roasted chicken wings with potatoes cooked in chicken juices and tomato onion cucumber salad. Those are dinner, for lunches i eat those leftovers. I think where I am screwing up is breakfast. I have an iced black coffee, fruit (I know...awful), and maybe one of those RX whole 30 approved bars. I really don't have time to make eggs and sugar free bacon every morning. Do you think I feel so awful because my gut is trying to heal? I get sharp pangs every half hour. I'm definitely not hungry, and in fact, nauseated. Help!
  22. I am on day 4 of whole 30 and woke up this morning feeling nauseated. the thought of any food at all was unbearable. Spent most of morning lying in bed between bouts of diarrhea and vomiting (dry heaving as nothing actually came up). Rest of day feels as if i have been hit by a truck - headache, joint pain, still nauseous, cold, exhausted. Up till now, first three days were awesome. Only thing i could stomach today has been about 15 red grapes, one boiled egg, and green tea. i'm hoping this is normal? Just wanted to hear if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks!
  23. I have 2 prescribed medications that must be taken at bedtime. They make me extremely nauseated if taken on an empty stomach. Any suggestions on how to make this work with "3 meals, no snacking" and "stop eating a few hours before bed"? I am on Day 2. Last night was horrible - nausea, pain & burning in stomach until I feel asleep. Then I woke up nauseated (but that could be just day 2...)
  24. Hello! I am in day 11 of my first whole30 and have been feeling pretty terrible the past two days (nausea, headache, achy, low energy - I can barely get out of bed!). I have not had anything off plan, and all my meals follow the recommended template. The only problem I can pinpoint is that I have consistently only been able to eat two meals a day! (Uh-oh...) In life before whole30, I generally only ate two meals a day as well. I tend to feel too nauseous in the morning to eat and have therefore gotten used to skipping breakfast and not being hungry until about 12pm. I'm trying very hard to turn this around and eat meals 1, 2 and 3 at their proper times. I'm a little worried that I am a third of the way through my whole30 and have not been successful yet. Do you think the fact that I have only had 2 meals per day for the first 10 days is grounds for a restart or a whole30+? And does anyone have any recommendations for getting meal 1 in earlier in the day so that I can also fit meal 2 and 3 in before it gets too late in the evening? (Background info: I am 22 years old, female, and have hashimoto's disease. I don't know if my hypothyroidism is part of my inability to eat in the morning, but I am hoping I can achieve 3 regular meal times per day and overall better health through my whole30 journey!) Thank you for your help!
  25. I am on day 3 of my first Whole30...I am really struggling with feeling nauseated since day 1. Day 1 I also already got "the headache" but that luckily has not reappeared. I know I can't take Pepto or tums because of the added sugar, I hate ginger flavor, and peppermint tea doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Does anyone have any suggestions of stomach soothers that I could try that are compliant? Day one and day two were pretty much constant with nausea...Today I actually felt ok until I ate lunch...then literally about 5 minutes later I was lightheaded and thought I was going to toss my non-existent cookies. Here is a look at my meals the last few days. I am really working on ramping up breakfast (I know I need more protein there) However, prior to this my "breakfast" consisted of a glass of juice or almond milk. I still have a hard time eating "food" before about 10 am, but I am forcing it to happen. Actually right now I feel like I am having to force myself to eat most of the time as even thinking about food can trigger the "ugh" feeling or make it worse. Prior to the entire Whole30 I was probably eating 5-6 small meals a day and I ate whole grains, dairy, and I love hard cider and chocolate. White flour and sugar were already long gone from my house, but coconut sugar, honey, etc were used in place of that. I am drinking water with lemon, unsweetened green tea, and La Croix. Day 1 breakfast: (I was planning on hardboiling eggs the night before, but dropped the entire carton...had to grab some the next day) Banana 2 Dates Very small handful of raw almonds Lunch: 1 cup compliant Turkey Taco Meat 1 cup lettuce leaves 5 mini bell peppers 1/4 sweet potato Dinner: 4 1.5 inch compliant turkey/chicken meatballs with an egg mixed in and cooked in coconut oil 1.5 cups homemade compliant marinara with added bell peppers, carrots, and zucchini Day 2 Breakfast 1 hard boiled egg Banana Very small handful of almonds Lunch: 1 cup of compliant Tuna Salad 1 medium avocado 5 mini bell peppers Small handful baby carrots Dinner: compliant Paleo Beef Stroganoff with olives on top of Zoodles (Hubbs is allergic to mushrooms sadly) Large serving of steamed brussels drizzled with Balsamic and avocado oil Day 3: Breakfast 2 hardboiled eggs Banana Apple 3 mini peppers Lunch: Leftover Stroganoff and zoodles with around 4 brussles tossed in 1/2 cup of compliant Sweet Potato/apple/chicken sausage hash Fresh Pineapple, probably about a cup 10 green olives I honestly don't even want to think about it....but dinner plans tonight are for chicken breasts cut into strips, dipped in egg and a little almond/coconut flour, with roasted sweet potato wedges with a compliant mustard sauce for dipping and some mini peppers on the side. I know I for sure need to up the protein in my breakfasts, but right now I need something that is compliant that might help soothe my stomach. I am miserable at work and it is affecting my performance.... Hellllllp!
