  1. Today marks day 8 of my Whole 30 journey! I already find that I'm waking up easier each morning and have less brain fog. My typical set of three meals looks like this: Meal 1: 2 eggs fried with olive oil topped with sautéed red bell peppers and compliant salsa. Side of sliced apples sprinkled with cinnamon. Meal 2: Leftovers. Most recently spaghetti squash topped with compliant ground beef meat sauce. Meal 3: Same as meal 2 (When I work I stand a 48-72 hr shift so I meal prep with one large dish and divide it accordingly). I cut out caffeine for the 30 days as well so I'm drinking compliant herbal tea once in the morning and then to wind down at night. Until a couple of hours ago everything seemed to go well, I just had the usual fatigue and headaches from adjusting. My bowel movements even felt quicker and smoother. However, during my most recent bowel movement I noticed BRIGHT ORANGE spots of oil floating near the surface of the water in the toilet above my normal looking stool. I have seen a lot about different adjustments people have had in their BMs, but nothing like what I've mentioned. Is this actually a normal bodily response, or should I contact a physician about an underlying medical issue?

    Day 26 crazy poops-tmi I know

    I am on day 26, my poop for the first two weeks was slightly softer but what I would consider totally normal. For the past week and a half either I don't go at all or I poop soft serve 4 times a day, usually right after eating. Has this happened to anyone else? Did anyone find a solution?
  4. Hi Whole 30ers, I am on my first Whole 30 and am on Day 15 - Halfway through!! I ventured onto my Whole30 Journey after experiencing varied and inconclusive digestive issues over the past 3 years. I was ALWAYS very bloated, uncomfortable, often had shooting gas pains in my lower abdomen, reflux just to name a few. To really dig into the TMI details I would often go through cycles of being very constipated, followed by urgent diarrhea. Overall I'm really satisfied with how Whole 30 has eased many of my symptoms so far. I have noticed a significant decrease in bloating, gas pains and reflux. However, I have not had much solace when it comes to my bowel movements. So far, I have only had very loose movements including diarrhea. I have not had one solid poo since I started Whole 30 15 days ago. At first they were much more urgent and larger in volume, which I attributed to the immediate change in my diet. Now they are still very soft but less frequent and with smaller bits with each movement. I'm a little worried at this point at 15 days with no improvements. I'm not sure if this is due to a higher fat content in my diet now? What are ways to try and adjust my intake in order to try and resolve these issues? Many thanks for your insights and helping me out with this awkward TMI topic!

    Headaches and Poop

    What a fun topic to talk about, huh? I have been doing Whole30 for 48 days now. After day 30, I stayed mostly Whole30 but ate a few things here or there that weren't compliant. Anyway, throughout the whole 48 days, I have woken up with a slight headache every day and it never really seems to go away. Also, my poop is the worst. I only poop every 2-3 days and when I do, it's a small amount and very squishy and hard to get out. Before starting Whole30, I knew my gut was messed up. I was depressed and anxious most of the time and I felt bloated and just messed up on the inside. I'm wondering if I need to make any changes to my diet going forward to feel amazing. Or if I just need to do another strict round and stop having the occasional treat until I'm finally healed. Any tips would be appreciated! Here's a list of what I eat everyday. Oh, and I realized that I have been eating way too many potatoes so I'm going to try to cut back and replace them with veggies. If you think that's the problem, I'd love to know so I can be sure to keep cutting them out. Breakfast: Typically 3 eggs, either some pulled pork or bacon, half an avocado, sauerkraut or kale coleslaw on the side. Probably could do better about adding more veggies here. Used to add in about 2 small red potatoes but have cut those out for now. Lunch: A can of tuna with homemade mayo, pumpkin seeds, half an apple, spinach. Sometimes using plantain chips to dip with them. Other days I'll make BLT lettuce wraps with turkey lunch meat, tomato, lettuce, mayo, bacon, avocado. Sometimes with chips on the side (baked in avocado oil). Dinner: Chicken breast or pulled pork, green beans/kale coleslaw/brussel sprouts/broccoli/cauliflower, potatoes, mayo or avocado as a side. Sometimes we'll do chicken curry over a baked potato. Sometimes a soup which has potatoes/ground beef/kale. Dinner is always something different every night, so it's hard to list every meal we make, but I always try to make sure there's a meat, potato, veggie and fat. Also: taking magnesium supplements, cod liver oil supplements, a "hair and nail" health supplement from whole foods that is compliant, drinking kombucha every day. Rarely I drink coffee, but I do drink tea every day. I have done 2 rounds of Whole30 in the past and I remember feeling much better than this round. Plus in my last 2 rounds combined, I lost 15lbs (and have since gained it back), but in this past round, I only lost 3-4 lbs. I just feel like something is off and would love your thoughts! Thanks!!
  6. Help. I'm on day 8 and constipated. I've had maybe two bowel movements of lesser size (I normally go daily)...advice?! What foods will trigger this? I've been told I have IBS-C...but I had worked hard to be pretty regulated before I started this. But maybe that's because I was eating a lot more crap?! I take probiotics every night. Help Please!!!
  7. Hey guys! This is my first Whole30 and I'm having some real problems. I'm currently on Day 15 and I haven't experienced the "magic" of the program. I have lost little (if any) weight, am still tired all the time, still have headaches each day, and my stomach hurts quite often. For example, this morning I had a handful of salted cashews, one egg, and 2 pieces of natural bacon for breakfast and I've had the runs. This is a normal experience for me during the Whole30. Yesterday, I had around the same thing and had the runs again. I also hardly ever feel full. It's weird, I can eat and eat and eat and never feel that satisfied feeling of being full without bloated. It's tough because I don't feel any different from when I was eating non-Paleo. Each morning, I take one D3 Vitamin, 2 B-Complex Vitamins, and a ProBiotic My thoughts on why it's this way: my system is still repairing itself or my polycystic ovaries. I would LOVE some help as to what's going on. Thanks!
  8. Hi. I'm on day 23 and living with Lupus so that means nothing is ever normal for me. I was already dairy and gluten free for years before I started (background info). I still crave sugar! I still get irritable some days and am still not experiencing any of that wonderful sleep or boundless energy everyone benefits from. I'm in bed for 9+ hours but restful sleep doesn't happen. One of the main things is that until 3 days ago I just wasn't pooping. All this healhy food going in but not really coming out. Now it's switched and gone to the other spectum and it's diarrea all day/night with cramping and gas. My lupus fog as been mostly gone and an odd posiitve is that my fingernails have changed dramatically and are now much healthier. Clothes still fit the same as well. I know good things will happen if I keep going but I was hoping for more. I don't want the only benefits of this to be my nails. I want the whole thing! My main wish was for a major reduction in inflammation, some weight loss and the sleep/energy deal. I wasn to be the healthiest Lupus gal around. Any ideas what's going wrong or taking so long?
  9. I will apologize now... this is not a fun topic. I am on day 8 of the autoimmune whole30. Up until now, everything has gone extremely well. I thought my biggest challenge would be breaking my sugar addiction. In reality, my first week without sugar was much easier than I ever thought it would be. I was so happy last night when I reached a week. Then this morning happens... bloody stool. Bloody stool has been my biggest fear. Background story... I have been wheat free for several years. When I went wheat free, I replaced wheat products with rice products. A year and a half ago I decided to ditch the processed rice products and replace them with salad and that is when I first experienced bloody stool. After an emergency trip to see my doctor he suggested a fiber drink. In the end I gave up and went back to rice bread. My current meals... Breakfast is usually a pork patty, grated fried yam, a piece of fruit and a date. Lunch is usually a kale salad with carrot and cucumber with some sort of meat. Dinner is meat with some veggies, a piece of fruit and a date. I drink about 5-6 glasses of water and have 3-4 cups of tea per day. In the last few days out of fear of this happening, I have also started eating a few prunes every day. I have not had any beets either. It is definitely blood. I am thinking this is a fiber issue but I seriously do not think I can eat much more than I already am. Then again, I have also had the thought that it could be a intestinal bacteria issue. I really do not want to have to stop my autoimmune Whole30. Any ideas and/or advice would be appreciated.
