  1. Hi everyone. I've done two whole thirties already and I love the whole thirty so much. I've gained weight since then and definitely not proud of where I'm at right now. My self control is weak. And my skin isn't as healthy as it used to be. I also have somewhat of an addiction to aspartame, gum and sweet N low. I think a lot of my lack of self control is due to lack of sleep. I'm Committed to a fresh start tomorrow and getting rid of the sugar dragon. Thank you.

    Starting Tomorrow if IRMA is nice!

    Anxious, excited, nervous...tomorrow is my anticipated start date. I am in FL and currently everything is safe here but should I lose power I may be limited as far as my food options go but I want to start tomorrow to hopefully finish and complete a bit if reintroduction before my birthday trip. Excited to meet people with experience and newbies like me! I will definitely need support! Any tips for a newbie who is already missing her typical dessert? I love to end the night with something sweet (a piece of dark chocolate, a smore, Ben and Jerrys lol) so this is the area I am most nervous about! Also CHEESE!   3. Hi my name is Mary and I just started my SeptemberWhole30. This is my first Whole30 and I just finished day 2. I have been "starting" this program for awhile now and just kept putting it off another day, week, month. So I decided I have to just start today and if I fall off then I start over until I complete the whole30. My goal is to stick with it without restarting and I will try my best to do it. I will update as I can and am making myself post daily on twitter, facebook and instagram to keep my motivation going and keep me accountable.
  4. Probably too much information, but I feel the need to share... At one point in my life I was fairly thin and in good shape. Then after my Dad passed away in 2009 I gained about 60lbs in 2 years. I was broken inside and out. In 2013, My eating was horrendous and all I could manage to do was go to work and go home. I think I went with friends about 6 times in 2 years. I was fed of with being hijacked with my emotions and this person I didn't recognize in the mirror. I was fortunate to have a good friend who recommended a gym - a powerlifting and weightlifting gym. I had no idea what that had in store for me, but I quickly adapted a obsession for the barbell and lifting weights. I also had a coach who motivated me like no other and he introduced a macro's diet with some balance that really helped me reach goals. I managed to lose over 50lbs, but I looked like I lost closer to 80. Not to mention I was strong af. I don't know if I got overconfident or what, but i lost my drive and I'm almost back to where I was. I've gained over 40lbs and my drive is gone. I feel weak, ashamed and I stopped going to my gym because I was so embarrassed I lost what I works so hard for - I'm still in this space today. Recently, I've found a new trainer and gym, which seems to be helping. I can only go about 2x a week because I'm so incredibly sore I can't function. However, I think I'm about at the point I can add in another day soon. We just moved to powerlifting movements and I'm finally up to 90 kilos again - (my max, for reference was 137kg/300lbs). How did I get here? Looking forward... This will be my second time doing Whole 30. The first time I did pretty good, but didn't follow it to the letter. I failed with sticking to 3 meals a day and snacks as needed. Sometimes I "snacked" instead of breakfast - that happened in the evening too. I guess I didn't feel bad about it because all the food I ate was compliant and it must count for something (right?). Well my belly got flatter and I lost roughly 6lbs. I felt really good and was really afraid to reintroduce foods because i wasn't sure my cravings were completely gone. Welp here I am, 2 months later, back to eating sugar, diet pop, those evil but so good banana chips, and beer (and wine). I haven't got on the scale, but I know I've gained that weight back and I'm super bloated. I have managed to eliminate dairy since I realized from round 1 how terrible dairy makes me feel, but that's about it. This week and next, I'm cutting out grains and sweeteners, and limiting sugar intake. I don't think I can take the full shock to the system. I want to be successful. Of course I'll take the weight loss, but I really want to improve my relationship with food and use it as a fuel to be more active. I may do this round longer. I wonder if 45-60 days would have make a difference? Of course I will stick to meal plan closer - the structure and not just the foods. Here's to Round 2.

    First timer

    Hi, I'm starting the whole 30 on September 1st, really looking forward to it. I need to re-boot my system and if I lose a few pounds too...fabulouso! Is anyone else out there doing it for the first time? Jackie
  6. Hi Friends! I am starting my very first Whole30 on September 14th. AH. That makes it official. Anyways, I had hoped to get my mom to participate, but shes worried she can't do it (and is doubting my ability to do it as well). My husband can't participate fully because of his work/school constraints and provided food, so this leaves me to do this alone. I would love to have some support and maybe even an accountability partner who could email/text throughout the duration? Be prepared for questions, venting, and encouragement (for me and from me!). Who else is starting Sept 14th? I'd love to hear from you! Meg Dean -

    Starting September 20!

    Hi, my name is Amy, and I'm a carbaholic. (hi, Amy) I heard about Whole30 through SparkPeople and decided to look into for myself. I first bought The Whole30 to read while on vacation (because THAT made sense) and recently picked up It Starts With Food. So much of the information scares me, but so much of it also turned on the light bulb in my brain. I have chronic high stress, am almost 100 pounds overweight, have borderline high blood pressure and cholesterol, and have a family history of hypothyroidism. I do not want to live like this, and I do not want to have my own carry on full of medicines when I am older! So here I am, getting ready to start my first Whole30 on Sunday. My husband will be doing this with me, although I don't know how long my sweet-loving Southern boy will last. Personally, I know I need to tame my Sugar Dragon and break up with my carb addiction. I need to reset my metabolism and get back in balance. I need to plan, and I need to post to be accountable. I am looking forward to this! GO TEAM ME!

  9. Here we go... i think I'm as ready as I'm going to be! Tomorrow will be day number 1 and I think my husband and I are mentally prepared to have a successful Whole 30. I believe that I have adequately prepared with meal planning and prepping food also. I just finished packing our meals for the work day tomorrow. Chopped extra veggies and took out meat to defrost for tomorrow too. Here's to killing our Sugar Dragons! Sharon Q.
  10. Hi everyone! I'm planning to start my second Whole30 in FOUR DAYS! After a summer that included an abdominal surgery and general laziness while recovering, it's time for a change. Last time I did Whole30, I lost 20 pounds and followed the plan to the letter for the most part. I'll admit, I didn't pay attention to the portion suggestions. This time, I'd like to be as strict as possible. Anyone else starting around the same time? It's certainly easier to take this journey with the support of others. Thanks!
  11. Alright everybody...I am starting this journey TOMORROW! I'm excited BUT really nervous. lol. I have failed and let myself down too many times. I don't and can't let that happen anymore. My health is not where it should be. I am about 75 pounds over weight and all sorts of things don't feel right in my body, so the time for change has to be NOW. I'm also really excited to make new friends on here. Can't fail with great friends by your side, right. Thanks in advance for being so wonderful!!

    September War Party

    Greetings all. I am day 3 into my second round of Whole30 proper. I ate paleo for the better part of a year with a few notable breaks and then discovered this site. I partnered with a friend who like me has a host of health complaints and we went for it together. We shopped and cooked meals together and we got ourselves through it. That was last April. Over the summer we have slid considerably in what we consider "food". So we are trying again. Only this time we are bringing friends! We have been joined by 4 other women (all from our church). The reasons for joining are varied- Lupus, weight loss, weight gain, depression, to learn a discipline, to renew a commitment to health, and more. We've broken in to two groups of 3 each with my fellow survivor and I each acting as the point person for all of the questions from the newbies. But the whole group is working together to come up with ideas and encourage the rest through texts and emails and recipes and whatever else we can think of. We started on Tuesday (after Labor Day Weekend) with the exception of one woman who got really sick and postponed her start until today. So far so good and much is being learned. We are still working on baby steps since this is only day 3 but I am incredibly hopeful.

    Starting Sept 1st

    Hi my name is Jessika and I recently stumbled upon this program from someone I follow on instagram and thought I should check it out. Last December I did a 15 day juice cleanse that changed my life. Since then I've been living a mainly veggie lifestyle. Though I have to admit July and August I have fallen off the wagon a little which is what brought me here. I wanted to do something starting September 1st to get me back on track. I was thinking about doing the juice cleanse again, but I'm training to run my first Marathon on Nov. 4th and don't think I can run that many miles on just juice. A few questions before I get started: 1. I have been mostly vegetarian this last few months, with the exception of the occasional fish. Will this program still be successful if I choose fish/eggs only as my source of protein? 2. What about Juicing? I sometimes like to replace my breakfast or lunch with a juice, is that a possibility? 3. Smoothies? I read all of the don't.. but what about protein powder? I like to enjoy a dairy free juice for my post workout meal sometimes 4. Any runners out there? I'm looking for advice on foods to eat pre and post long runs, for example 16+ miles I welcome and appreciate all feedback. Thank you!!
