Your approach is interesting. I've thought about doing something similar since I tend to be an all or nothing type of person. After reading 'It Starts With Food' though, I decided to give the Whole 30 another try. Because I pretty much exist on what Melissa and Dallas call 'food with no brakes'. I am anxious to see what this 30 days does with my relationship with food.
