Basically states a lot of EVOO is not truly pure olive oil but a blend with other oils or lower grade olive oil. Has a couple recommendations on where to make sure you're getting the real stuff. Anyone have their own suggestions on where to source? I usually just buy the WF 365 brand EVOO but would consider trying something else if it was guaranteed pure.

There are a few tested quality brands noted in this article. I only buy those and I switched my homemade mayo from olive oil based to avocado oil and macadamia nut oil based to be safe. Adagio, your olive oil is listed as pure. Apparently labeling laws on olive oil are pretty loose though. Check out this article...pretty disturbing.

I saw the yellow avocado oil at Whole Foods too. Hmmm...

I also wonder about the "light" olive oil statement at the end of the article you posted. If you want to make mayo with olive oil, what do you do? Every recipe I've seen tells you to use to light oil instead of extra virgin because of the flavor.

It would be so much easier if food manufacturers could just be decent and honest.
