Suzcole
Hello Friends I just recently graduated from school and will be starting my Masters studies next week and thought this would be as good a time as ever to make some changes. I am living with three other girls and would need to be making all my own food anyway, so it would be easier than eating in a cafeteria or at home. For the past two years I have been dealing with various medical issues and was getting fed up with the increase of medication after medication, but I had a family friend bring me up to speed on the research and show me how effective Whole9 can be! I am very excited to work through my food addictions these next thirty days and am already well on my way. I have a separate fridge at the house and a shelf of approved food which will be all I allow myself to eat. Support is needed though as I live with roommates who basically eat whatever is around but are willing to help in my efforts. My diet needed to change and I think this will also help to improve life as well. I am very excited to see the difference and get to know people who are working through the same changes!! (: Now, to make myself some lunch . . . . Happy Day 1!! Suzcole

percypat
Hi Suzcole! Hiya and welcome I think you will find this a really good time in your life to change your eating habits. I'm a PhD student and just over halfway through my first Whole 30. If you're anything like me and get to manage how you spend most of your time, this means you can really devote time to cooking and meal planning without having to fit it around a full work week. Of course it's challenging when everyone around you is eating all the nasties you are trying to cut out - remember you can always come on here for support (or just a good old rant!). Best of luck to you
awall1013
Suzcole, Congrats on your graduation and impending classes! I'm also a college student (undergrad still) and know firsthand where you're coming from! These forums are absolutely wonderful so you've come to the right place! Best of luck! Suzcole
Thanks Everyone!! The place I am staying doesn't have internet yet so it has been hard for me to get online regularly but we should have it soon so I can get connected with everyone more easily It has been a tough four days but it has really been fun trying to make yummy things without the usual ingredients. Right now I am going through major dairy withdraw though I have been using coconut milk and almond milk in things but I drank lots of milk before so that has been the hardest. Also, do either of you exercise regularly? I feel like I have not have enough energy to do the same workouts I normally do and want to know if I should cut back? Thanks again and I wish you guys the best with today's battles SC
awall1013
I exercise on a daily basis. I wake up at 6am to do aerobics, and run/bike every other day. I also have done 5k's for the past two weekends and have another this Saturday. I have actually found paleo to be perfect for me, and I only stick with 3 meals a day. From the readings I've done, exercise differs between person-to-person. So my advice is to try a few different routines and eating habits and see what works for you! Suzcole
Wow! You go girl I tried doing my normal cardio for the first few days and saw that my energy was not the usual, but I am also overweight and have tendinitis in my ankles so that's a me problem. I just decided to do cardio every other day this first week and see if I can increase that in the second half of the 30 days once I have lost some weight and my body has adjusted. Thanks so much for the encouragement though and I am determined to make this work for 30 days and just build from there! Have a great time on your run this weekend and I hope to be able to do those again soon
