ChildoftheKing7777
So, I fried veggies in coconut oil, added some already cooked ground beef, and then made a cream from a avocado and a can of coconut milk, using a blender, and added the cream to the pan with veggies and beef. Spices I used were salt, pepper, cayanne pepper, minced garlic, and a splash of lime juice in the avocado cream. There's a little bit of heat from the cayanne, but other than that, it's kinda plain. How would you jazz it up?
Guest
Green chile? Jalapeno? Curry? Turmeric? Ginger? Chipotle? Oh, the places we will go... (ETA: Probably not all of those at once.)
kaiser179
I think that sauteed onion greatly enhances most dishes! I'm also a big fan of using cumin with ground beef.
Beets
Ginger! Ugh. Tapatalk just deleted my post but I keep ginger in the freezer now a la Michelle fr nomnom. Best tip ever. Frozen ginger knob + microplane = ginger ice. Yum. Use it twice a day. For a Thai direction: mint, Thai basil, fish sauce, coconut aminos. I love a bit of sautéed pineapple. homerfrizzell
With a can of coconut milk what is the consistency like? Is it a soup?
ChildoftheKing7777
With a can of coconut milk what is the consistency like? Is it a soup? Shake it before you open it, and it's like a very thick cream.
moggle
Paprika and/or cumin. And possibly a bit more salt.
Zoodles
Yep I second the paprika and cumin in with your ground beef/veggies, fry until fragrant. Then maybe some lime juice and coriander leaves and more paprika in with your avocado cream? Sumac is also amazing sprinkled on top of stuff at the end for extra zing. Mmmm suuummaaaccc.....
