Derval
I bought a jar today , but didn't notice tillI got it home that it had "cold pressed sunflower oil" in it too, this means it's out for w30, right?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 4, 2012 Moderators Share Posted July 4, 2012 I don't think the sunflower oil is a problem. I mean, sunflower oil comes from sunflower seeds and ground sunflower seeds is what the butter is made of anyway.
Derval
But sunflower oil is on the list of oils to be avoided....so I am confused how one is allowed & the other not. This is the brand (scroll down) http://www.carleys.co.uk/pages/products.html#Oseed
Johnny M
Sunflower seeds and oil are high in PUFA's which in short are not awesome for you. So sunflower seeds and butter are on the limit list. Cooking oils at high temperatures changes their chemistry so cooking with sunflower oil would be different and pretty bad for you so it's on the avoid list as a cooking oil. Derval
Ok, just tasted it and limiting it will *not* be a problem. I thought it was supposed to taste like pb!
Johnny M
Hahaha...be wary of paleo things that are supposed to taste like this or that. I like the sun butter on apples or in sauces sometimes (well fed has a good one though I think it tastes better with almond butter) and with grapes but that's it. It's a similar texture but clearly not the same taste as PB.
Derval
Yes I have made the sunshine sauce with almond butter and it was great. I feel done! paleosphere duped me!
BrandiLynn
I put that on Lindt 90% chocolate with coconut manna on top. After your taste buds are acclimated to sweet being not artifically supersweet - that is heaven. *well, it was heaven to me! :} )
