What to Put in Your Purse (or Man-Purse)

Hi All,

I'm getting tired of just putting almonds and apples in my purse for travel food. I'm wondering what your ideas are for non-perishable and EASY (I don't have time to make beef jerky, though I do have time to make energy bars) snacks for on-the-go. Especially filling ones!

Thank you,

Dee

Top round aka london broil, flank or skirt steak sliced thin on the bias. Season with any spices you like. I like spicy so I use salt, pepper, cumin and chipotle pepper. Put on a rack over cookie sheet. 200 degrees for 6-8 hours. I have a dehydrator so let me go check on oven times to be accurate. :)

Thank you all SO much. I had no idea you could make beef jerky in the oven safely. Also tried a larabar today- yum! And, will check out some of the other ideas too! I also just discovered TJ dried veggies in a bag and Go Raw's lemon cookies (watch out though- I ate the whole bag in 20 minutes!)

  • 2 weeks later...

I like those Lara Bars... they have certain ones that don't have any added sugar. My favorite is the banana bread one. I went to a conference a couple of weeks ago and would have died without those bars! My options on the "continental breakfast" was bagels, yogurt, muffins or pastries. :)  I also bought some veggies (carrot and celery sticks, don't think they have to be refrigerated??) and put them in my purse in case I got stuck at lunch. (Which I did, they served pasta! It was a total carb fest the whole week. I'm still frustrated by it! )

I was also going to look into those Primal Pac's that are advertised on the W30 approved section. http://primalpacs.com/ Not sure if anyone has had the beef jerky, fruit mix, but it looked good and easy!

Good luck!

Love Primal Pacs. I keep one in my drawer at work, carry one in my purse, and will pick up extras when we go on vacation in the fall. FYI, the fruit is very soft and yummy. But this post has me wanting to make my own beef jerky (or salmon...) in the oven.
