Beets
Beautiful wedding photos. Your happiness jumps out. I agree about this WOE and also wish I'd discovered it sooner. I've come up to my MIL's many times and have never been successful about sticking with my eating plan in the face of so much temptation. But bravo to us for discovering it now. percypat
On the exercise thing it comes from years and years of scheduling my workouts and making them a priority. I actually get mad when I can't get out for a run because I'm sick or something else comes up. It is so much a part of who I am now. 3 years ago, this is where I was. Then it kind of turned into a competitive gym addiction where I'd do maybe 10 group fitness classes a week, run 3 times a week for 1/2 marathon training and do weights twice a week. There were a group of us who'd egg each other on (still some of my besties). It stopped when we left to go overseas and I stopped going to that gym. While I miss being so disciplined with my exercise, it wasn't the healthiest place in the world and I need to find a more balanced approach like yours! When I feel confident I've got the food figured out (and my research proposal done) I think this needs to be my next focus.

Physibeth
Day 25 Wrap Up Meal 3: Pork Spare Ribs (a lot...so good!), sweet potato, strawberries, cherries, and watermelon. I most definitely ate too much fruit last night. It was so good though. Ended up just rubbing my seasoning salt into both sides of my ribs and it got nice and crispy and delicious on the grill. So delicious. No BBQ Sauce required! Day 26: Sleep: By the time I got to bed I fell asleep surprisingly quickly considering all the things still going kaboom outside. Woke up at 1:30, 4:30, 6:15, and a little after 7. Tried to go back to sleep again but Cleo the cat was all up in my face and licking me and insisting I got up. Just a little over 7 hours of sleep total. Meal 1: 3 eggs fried in bacon fat (sorta, see below), the last little bit of pork ribs from last night, 1/2 acorn squash with coconut butter, cinnamon, and raisins, black coffee, raw sauerkraut. As I put the pan on the stove to make my eggs this morning I was thinking what a shame it was to cook on such a clean stove. My stove gets so much dirtier now that I cook with more fat. So of course while I was flipping my eggs one decided to jump completely out of the pan and land yolky side down on my nice clean stove. I rescued most of the egg but now I have a big mess to clean up and lost at least half of my lovely yolk. Debating my run today. I'm so very very sore from yesterday. The plan is to do 5 miles but I might just go out and do 2 or 3 really easy ones just to get my legs loose again. Sometimes I find light exercise helps the soreness go away. I really don't want to go into work today but I do have some stuff to do. At least it is much cooler today (so far) thus the eating my full breakfast before my run. Highlight of last evening...we went out to sit on the grass of the front lawn as most of our neighbors were setting off fairly impressive fireworks. Our direct neighbor lit one of those sky lantern things and it got stuck in a tree across the street. They thankfully got it loose and going again before it caught the tree on fire but then they sent it towards a whole bunch of trees and it was stuck in a higher tree for a while. Thankfully it finally got free. Those things are so dangerous.
Lizzard77
You are doing so great! Sounds like a lovely 4th despite the almost going up in flames of a tree. Doesn't a clean house feel great? I know what you mean about not wanting to cook on a clean stove. It just about kills me to do anything in my kitchen after I've boiled it but alas food must be cooked. It is so nice though to come out in the morning to a clean living space.
Physibeth
Agreed. One of the tasks I'm supposed to do every day is clean the kitchen before bed. It has such an effect on my mood when I do it. Lately I've just been getting it picked up (when done at all) so scrubbing everything felt good. My brain knows that if everytime I cooked I cleaned up after myself that it would stay cleaner and I could avoid the scrubbing but sometimes that isn't enough to motivate me. Next I need to attach the upstairs. Our bedroom/master bath is awful and the guest room is currently covered in piles of paper from when I did the taxes. Need to get that sorted out before brother comes on Tuesday. The man cave is another story all together. I won't touch that with a ten foot pole...all on the husband. Lizzard77
My kithcen and main living area typically stay pretty clean, not usually far from a 1/2 hr pick-up, dust, vacuum. The rest of the house is a whole nother story! I have got to go through closets, old papers, boxes when we moved in 3 years ago etc. I would hve so much more space if my hubs would clean the "office" that is now a junk room for his junk cause he moved his office to the back den which is also a man cave. And I agree, I will not touch that room with a long pole as well. I don't understand why they would want to spend time in it?!?

Physibeth
I don't understand why they would want to spend time in it?!? I know right! The thing that gets me miffed is that dishes go there to die until I ask him to bring them downstairs several times and by then they usually have science projects in them. Ewww! What is this clean house thing you speak of? I think the last time my whole house was clean was when my family was here for Thanksgiving...and even then it was far from as clean as I'd like. As we are looking to downsize in the fall I need to start working on organization projects and decluttering. If we end up needing a storage unit I would like to be able to get the smallest one possible for our needs. I was a good girl and did some tidying this morning before I went on my run including scrubbing the egg mess off my stove. Day 26 continued: Exercise: Was still cloudy and cool when I finally got out there. I just took it easy and finished 5 miles. Not as fast as Monday's run but still well within my goal range and natural negative splits. Perhaps I just need to relax more. Meal 2: Tuna with mayo and dill, 2 sliced persian cucumbers with sea salt, handful of baby carrots, sandwich baggie of watermelon leftover for yesterday. The air conditioner repair dudes are here today! *insert happy dance here* Luckily the clouds have not burned off yet so it is still nice and cool in my office. Not sure if they will get it all done today but hopefully by Monday will be fixed. Did not bring my dinner with me as I wasn't planning on staying long. Have one thing to work on that I must be here to do and then I think I will head home. Would like to finish some errands, do some meal planning, and start working on cleaning up the guest room tonight.

Physibeth
Day 26 continued: Meal 3: Last of the cinnamon beef stew, mashed faux-tatoes, couple more slice of watermellon and a handful of cherries. Probably too much sugar again today. My productive afternoon didn't pan out. Was very tired by the time I got home. Played Magic Online all evening. Husband wanted spaghetti. Opened the jar of nasty ragu that was in the fridge and it had mold. Almost full family size. Luckily I had another jar. When I brought it to the man cave I spilled some on my hands in all its hot glory. And I've got some sort of hangnail on my right middle finger that is making my whole finger hurt. I'm grumpy. Going to finish cleaning up the kitchen and take myself to bed now.
Physibeth
Day 27: Sleep: Almost 7.5 hours last night. Took a little time to fall asleep. Probably didn't help that I drank almost my entire 22 oz water bottle before bed but I realized I was a bit dehydrated. Woke at 12:30, 1:45, and then not again until 6. Meal 1: (6:30 am) 4 eggs scrambled into kale sauteed in bacon fat, bacon, black coffee, raw sauerkraut Getting ready to leave for the gym soon. Getting a water submersion body fat test done this morning. I guess that means I'll get a preview of my weight. Then I'm going to do pump express + cx this morning. I'm still feeling sore so it should be fun. I did manage to get the kitchen cleaned up, laundry put away, and the cat boxes cleaned before I got in bed last night. Read longer than I expected before I started nodding off on the book. Must work on guest room/bathroom this afternoon! Babysitting for my friends 1 year old tonight. Lizzard77
Good luck with the submersion thingydoo! I think that is so interesting! And, go you for getting a little straightening up done last night before getting to bed. It really does help if you can manage to do little bits each evening. I've got laundry laundry laundry to do as the hubs is outta town all week for work then we leave on Friday so he needs to pack tomorrow for 2 weeks. My biggest challenge is getting it folded and put away, it usually ends up on a chair in the bedroom WTG for working out on the weekend too. I love that you are so commited to exercise, your will and resolve is something I look up to!
Physibeth
Thanks Liz! I think making a plan and sticking to it is key to both exercise and food. It helps so much. I also think it helps with the classes that my friends are instructors. I like to make laundry put away into extra exercise by parking the bin on the bed and then putting each item away at a time rather than making piles. Most of our stuff gets hung up anyway. I posted this in clean July too but body fat testing went well. Weight was 185 and body fat % was 32.8 which is about what I expected. I weighed in June 1st at 187.6 first thing in the morning before eating and this was after eating a big breakfast so encouraging sneak peek at what Wednesday might bring. I did look at the calendar and I might get a visit from AF next week so hopefully that doesn't mess with my results too much. BodyPump+CX was killer this morning. I love how strong I'm feeling! I might look into which weights I can increase next. I don't want to get stagnant. Saw a couple ladies I haven't seen in a while and both told me how good I was looking so that definitely helps stroke the ego. Meal 2: 4 grass fed hot dogs with mayo and mustard, handful of baby carrots, pickle, probably a handful of cherries, rest of my coffee from this morning blended with tbs of 100% cocoa powder and a can of light coconut milk
Physibeth
Day 27 cont'd: Meal 3: Chinese BBQ Pork (from Well Fed) with bok choy sauteed in ghee, 2 cherries (all I had time for before the baby said she was all done). Drank a bottle of kombucha while I was working on meal plan after baby went to sleep. Had a slice of bacon and 5 more cherries before bed because I was noticeably hungry. Probably spent too much time after lunch playing computer game yesterday but eventually pulled myself away and got going on the chores. Made the bok choy so I would just have to put all my foods in my lunch bag before leaving and go the kitchen all straightened up again. Put away the load of laundry I washed/dried during lunch/gaming. Decluttered and cleaned the guest room and stripped the bed to wash the sheets. Cleaned the guest bathroom and put all the towels and floor rugs in the wash as well. Husband washed my car so it is white again not grey. Babysitting was fine. Their daughter doesn't really talk yet (1.5) but she knows some signs. We played outside for a little while, then had dinner, then back outside, then to bed. Sorted out my goals for the month of July and got my meals mostly planned so I can do my big monthly meat stock up. I'll fill in the veggie sides as I get my produce boxes. Didn't get home until after midnight but wanted to be able to check off my "daily chores done" box for today so I put the dishes from my lunch box in the dishwasher, moved laundry around, put an acorn squash in the crockpot, scooped the cat boxes, and fed the cats before hitting the hay. Day 28: Sleep: Got to bed so late that I just turned off my alarm. Read until I started falling asleep on the book (not long). Fell asleep relatively quickly. Woke 3x at 2:30, 5:50, and 8:30. Allergies were really bad yesterday and last night. Probably from cleaning (dust allergies). Meal 1: (9am) 4 eggs fried in bacon fat, 1/2 acorn squash with coconut butter, raisins, and cinnamon, black coffee, raw sauerkraut. Things I would like to get done today: Catch up on the budget tracking and get July's budget laid out (been being lazy about this) Vacuum the stairs, wipe down the washer/dryer, downstairs bathroom mirror, and clean the floors in the laundry room, downstairs bathroom, and front hallway. This would allow me to check off the "downstairs clean" weekly task on my goals sheet. Get my little bits of food prep done. Vacuum the upstairs hall and clean the master bedroom and bathroom which would allow me to check off the "upstairs clean" weekly task on my goals sheet. I also need to find the time to go through all my Creative Memories stock very soon so I can place some last chance orders. Ideally I wanted to do that this weekend but I'm not sure it is going to happen now. Next week. Leaving for church around noon and probably won't get back until 6:30 so we will see how this all pans out. Would love to be in bed at 10 tonight. Is it bad that I'm secretly hoping the AC still isn't fixed tomorrow so I have an excuse to not stay at work until my normal hours?
calee
Beth, it's perfectly normal to want to leave work early! It always feels so naughty. I love it! You accomplished so much at home this weekend. I'm seriously jealous. Please come here if you have extra energy for cleaning!
pjena
Did you get all that done yesterday? I'm impressed! Since having kids, it's almost impossible to keep the house clean. I did get all my food prep done, though, and then some. I was proud of that.
Physibeth
Day 28 cont'd: I did not get all that done last night. I didn't end up getting home until 8:30 because my errands took longer than I expected. I did come home from Target with 2 cute tankinis and a bunch of new sleepwear. Their sleepwear section is like crack to me. What I did manage to get done was my food prep for today, got the kitchen cleaned up (except my dutch oven which was still too hot when I went to bed) and the rest of the daily chore list done. Put away all the things I bought at Target and Fred Meyer, made up the guest bed (missing a pillow case...no idea where it went), and put the clean towels away in the guest bathroom. I decided that since I did more of my weekly cleaning tasks than I have managed to get done in months this week that I would give myself the checks for those. I struggle with getting frozen by perfectionism and I need to refocus on constant improvement. So my rule will be I need to get more of it done in subsequent weeks to earn the checkboxes until eventually I'm doing it constantly. I didn't want the effort I did get in to feel like failure just because I ran out of time. The cleaner the house gets the easier it is to maintain too. Did not get into bed at 10pm...more like 10:45. Meal 2: (2pm) 2 chicken thighs (one bonless/skinless and one bone-in skin on), part of a salad that left much to be desired so the other half went in the trash, sweet potato, cherries Meal 3: (9pm) grass fed rib eye steak, mashed faux-tatoes, sauteed swiss chard Day 29: Sleep: Ugh...I had a grande Americano at like 2:30 yesterday which was kinda dumb. Took me well over an hour to fall asleep last night. Once I did fall asleep I pretty much slept through the night. Woke up a little after 6 which triggered the alarm to go off (set to 6:30 with a half hour window to wake me at an "optimal" time). Turned that off and tried to go back to sleep but then husbands alarm kept going off and being snoozed. Finally got up around 7. Meal 1: (7:30 am) 4 eggs fried in bacon fat, 1/2 acorn squash with coconut butter, raisins, and cinnamon, black coffee, raw sauerkraut. It's still cool and cloudy out so decided to eat full breakfast before my run. Hope to get out there in another 45 minutes or so. Going to do 5 today and try to pull a faster 3 tomorrow after BodyPump than no more running until my 5k on Sunday.
Physibeth
Forgot to mention I had another weird food dream last night. I took a sip of some sort of drink and realized it had sugar in it (I had 2 different ones...one in each hand) and immediately started pouring both in the sink while someone lectured me about just drinking it and not worrying about the sugar. Than I was eating some chicken and glanced at the ingredients (I guess it was a pre-cooked?) and saw sugar and other nasties as I finished the last bite. I grabbed some more and decided taking the skin off would make it ok.

Physibeth
Day 29 cont'd Exercise: (9:45) 5 mile easy pace run - was very pleasant out and my legs loosened up as I went for nice natural negative splits over semi-consistent feel of effort. Meal 2: (1 pm) 2 lamb chops with olive tapenade, sauteed swiss chard. Air conditioning at work is still not fixed. Apparently they are waiting for the new unit to arrive. Not too terribly bad in here. Trying to fix something and then plan to go grocery shopping and home.
Nadia B
I can't count amount of times I've said to myself "you have to clean your place" while catching up. Well done! I really feel that keeping space around you clean is a part of self care. I can't be productive or even functional when it's a mess around. Strangely enough I notice that the more mess is around the lazier I become. My unreachable goal is to do as the saying goes - "don't make mess, so it won't be there". Some people can do clean as you go. I wish I could. He. Your wo reports are making me dreamy and happy, like I am doing it too. Round of applause for your self-discipline. Tomorrow is the last day and you'll move to "post" where "cool kids" are hanging out
