Jennifer Lagania
I've been thinking about committing to a Whole30 since my trainer introduced me to the concept late last year. Admittedly, the thought of giving up what have been staples ince childhood has overwhelmed me, and so I thought I'd try to lose the 40 lbs I regained (after losing 65 between 2010 & 2011) the way I had the first time around. But alas, despite jumping into CrossFit & all around tougher workouts this year, I'm still sitting in the same place weight-wise, so over the last few months, I've decided it's really time to give this a go. Our kitchen has been under renovation since 4/1, and I know that having my full kitchen available is one thing I will need to succeed with my Whole30, and that's why I'm waiting until 6/24 to get started. They finished our tile today, so countertops, plumbing & appliances should all happen next week! And after 12 weeks of more frequent-than-normal meals out, I'm actually ready to be cooking at home for a while. I received my brand-new, shiny copy of ISWF yesterday, and I plan to spend the next week reading, planning meals & shopping so that I'm completely ready to get started on the 24th! I'm very lucky that my trainer is going to do another Whole30 along with me, and my CrossFit team is going to keep me accoutnable too, but after reading along on these forums, I think this will be another big hangout for me over the next several weeks, at least! Would love to know if there's anyone else out there getting started around the same time or if there are any experienced folks who have some tips or advice for getting started on your first Whole30. bookworm05
Hey! I'm looking at starting on Monday as well. I've had a crazy week of bad workouts thanks to my school schedule and July 1st seems too far away. Your story actually sounds similar to mine - I lost over 60lbs about 4 years ago and over the last two years have put back on 20(ish). I feel like I've tried everything I know how to do to lose weight again and cannot, for the life of me, get the scale to budge. I also did CrossFit for about 2 years. I'm excited, but also very nervous that a) I won't be able to weigh myself for a month and that this might not work for me. Good luck prepping! I'll be doing that tomorrow after my midterm. kjonikai
Hi Ladies! I'm planning to start on Monday as well! I've been off-roading it the past few weeks and I can tell I'm in need of a Whole 30, no cheats, no exceptions. Need to be clean! I am looking for someone to hold me accountable, so hopefully we can do this together!
bookworm05
I feeling so crappy these days I'm thinking about starting Sunday. We'll see if I feel like cooking after my morning exam tomorrow!
anaxg
Good luck guys, a bunch of us started on June 1st, and having people doing it with you at the same time is great! you will be surprised to see how many of you have the same dreams, cravings, improvements etc.. Buy some Ghee, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Coconut Aminos, Macadamia nuts, cashews, Olives and if you can make tons of food this weekend and freeze it. It helps a lot on those days when you will be feeling tired and with no desire to cook.... We have all been through those... Enjoy it!!!!
kiwihoney
I've just started today. It would be great to share our journeys together. This is my second Whole30. I lost 16 pounds in my first one but fell off the wagon in a major way instead of introducing foods as I was supposed to do. I have about 45 pounds to go. BadTeacher
I am starting my first whole30 tomorrow too. I have been living paleo since april 2nd and right now I am experiencing a lot of cravings. So insted of giving in to those cracings I am going to do a whole30 :-) I havn't really bought any food (hoping that I have a enough in the fridge to keep me safe til I can shop tomorrow), but I have the book (to be read within the next week), I'v printed the guides and I am so ready to go. I thougt it would me nice with some accounabillity and support on those hard days :-) I am from Denmark, so maybe I know a few recepies that will be new and interesting ;-)
bookworm05
I'm on day 1 today. Decided I didn't want to bother waiting any longer. I've already found it really hard to ignore the scale today and it seems when you commit 100% to no cheating, no matter how small, you become very aware of how the small urges to have something stupid like...a cracker creep up on you. I have not cheated and do not plan to, but it's interesting how impulsive my eating habits are. I like to think I'm pretty in control of them but apparently not! Jennifer Lagania
Yay! Hi everyone. Are you all ready to get going? It's been a little tough for me to prep as my kitchen still is not finished (grrr....), but my hubby is downstairs getting the stove hooked up now so that I can eat the scrambled eggs I've been craving for the last month or so. Then to top that off, we were out of town this weekend helping my sister in law move into her new house. That said, I spent about an hour after we got back prepping food & I have a solid lunch & workout snacks packed for tomorrow. I'm most nervous about getting enough fats in. I don't like coconut or olives, so that really cuts down on my options. I'm thinking about trying both again at some point. I also haven't been able to find ghee yet..still working on that! I hope we can all stick together -- the accountability & partnership will definitely help.
Jakki
Hi everyone, I'm starting tomorrow as well. Looking forward to hearing from all if you on how it's going. I've already stopped the grains and legumes. It's the sugar that's gonna kick my tail! Suggestions on how to kill those cravings are appreciated! RABQ9430
I'm starting tomorrow also, though today was kind of a trial run at it...and I survived! I've never done Paleo before but several families from church including my daughter & son-in-law have been doing it and their success has motivated me plus my other daughter & brand new husband! I'm excited to see what I'll feel and look like in 30 days. Here we go!
BadTeacher
So its afternoon on day one for me, and I am pretty amazed at how my stomach is rebelling. I have been living paleo for af few months now and thought the first days would be easy, but sadly no. My stomach apprently doesn't agree with the carrotsalad I had for breakfast and lunch - just to make it easy. I usually have fruits and nuts for breakfast which is ok, but I know isn't truly paleo. I just finde it easy and it keeps me fine undtil lunch. Today my stomach hurt af bit and it feels af bit like hunger, but more upset??? I hope it goes away soon. I am looking forward to dinner, which is much like it has been for weeks now and hopefully it will settle my stomach. Cant wait to hear how your first day has been :-)

TiJa
I am back...Again! I did this program last year with much success; however, life happened and I totally fell off of the wagon. So now my weight is up 15 pounds and I would like to lose 25 pounds to get back to my happy weight. Size is more important to me than weight and right now I am a 12, but I feel much better at a 8-10. I started running last week & lifting heavy things, so now it is time to get my eating in check. I am starting with you all today...Good luck everyone! aaguilar1010
My husband and I just started today! My husband is pretty reluctant, but being a good sport. Lunches are going to be our toughest battle since we both work. Having trouble thinking of things we can take to work with us. Today, we each took some hard boiled eggs, veggies and some fruit. Pinterest has been a great resource for finding some recipes for dinner! I think if I can keep dinner interesting, he'll be more likely to stick with it! Best of luck to everyone...looking forward to what the next 30 days brings!

BadTeacher
I just made a seinfeld-calendar to motivate me :-) It has "Im doinge the whole30" logo on top and then a calendar underneath with 30 days and I put the dates on as well. I hung it on my board in the kitchen and every night I can cross of a day and see that I am one day closer to making it. If it turns out to be a whole45 or 60 or whatever I can just add more days :-)

In Denmark many workplaces have a microwave oven the employees can use to reheat their lunch, but I don't know how it's like at your workplace. Some dinners work fine cold the next day. I brought a salad and some meat today, but shrimp with half an avokado and a paleo mayo (i dont know if that is a paleofication?) could be very nice - and there is room for a salad or some veggies on the side. Of course shrimp requires that you can put your lunchbox in a fridge. Just af few idears to keep the hubby going :-)
bookworm05
Afternoon of day 2 of Whole30 for me. I was quite hungry last night and am hungry now but I'm trying really hard to wait until dinner. I was experiencing some stomach pain as well (maybe from all the coconut oil?) but it subsided after I ate at dinner time. What I'm finding the hardest is definitely not weighing myself (I have been on the scale a couple of times already. It's an issue I'm working through, haha) and not being fat/calorie phobic. I feel like I'm eating so much fat and have to stop myself from mentally counting calories to make sure I'm not overeating. I clearly have a lot of mental issues to work through! I have moved my weight out of the bathroom and away from where I usually go - its by my husbands bedside now - so I don't weigh myself by accident, as I, much like you, weigh myself way to often (more than once a day). I am trying really hard to keep not weighing myself and it helps that I don't see the weight. Maybe you could get your boyfriend/husband/a good friend to take your weight away for the 30 days, so it doesnt tempt you :-)
bookworm05
Update: I spoke too soon, stomach hurting again before dinner so not feeling hungry. I've got my stuff mostly prepped but going to hold off on cooking until I get the urge to eat. I have moved my weight out of the bathroom and away from where I usually go - its by my husbands bedside now - so I don't weigh myself by accident, as I, much like you, weigh myself way to often (more than once a day). I am trying really hard to keep not weighing myself and it helps that I don't see the weight. Maybe you could get your boyfriend/husband/a good friend to take your weight away for the 30 days, so it doesnt tempt you :-) Thanks for the suggestion. Currently my scale is under my bed and the only way to get at it would be to physically move my bed. Since I'm feeling kinda blah right now I'm getting the urge to weigh-in so I have to fight that now. It's definitely a validation thing. If I'm feeling fat and bloated but my weight isn't up then it's okay...and if it is then commence freakout...lol. I honestly weigh myself 8 times a day sometimes. We'll see how this works out for now.
