RiverSong
Just tried my first watercress from the farmers market. Man that stuff is SPICY! Can I cook it? I've been googling and keep finding salads but I think it's a bit too spicy for me to eat raw!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted June 22, 2013 Moderators Share Posted June 22, 2013 I never have, but I am pretty sure you can wilt it in some olive oil with salt and pepper or other spices. I wilt arugula all the time and they are kind of similar.
Derval
Usually in salads you'd mix it in with other leaeves - like spinach & lambs lettuce for example. here's some other ideas sub ghee http://www.rte.ie/lifestyle/food/recipes/2011/1006/2220-baked-turbot-with-watercress-butter/

RiverSong
Ooo, thanks all! I'll see what I can do with it. I like arugala raw but this seemed spicier to me. I'll try wilting it and maybe putting it on some meat or (yum) fish. We don't eat fish enough around here. I swear there's a gene that makes fish taste bad or good to a person. Thankfully my daughter and I both love it but the husband and son both hate it. Just the smell gets them on edge (while the smell gets the daughter and myself drooling, lol!). So yeah, maybe on a burger

PamH
Forgot to say: put it in an omelet!
homerfrizzell
I like the idea of cooking it. A friend of mine introduced me to grilled Romaine lettuce; I'd never thought of it before and it was very good.
