Day 1 - June 26th and not sure if I'm doing this right

I am only partially through the book and anxious to get started.  I have thrown away the scale, so I have no way of "checking" my weight and it's driving me crazy! I am having a hard time trusting that I will start to feel better and lose weight eating this way. If I understand correctly, I should only have 3 meals a day- consisting of animal protein, veggies and fat. How often and when should I have fruit, if at all. Also, if I get hungry between meals, what then? I'd appreciate any advice, experience or suggestions anyone has to share. Also, I am really needing some sugar or carbs right now! Craving!

Thanks!

The meal template is your friend: http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf

You've got the number of meals correct.  Fruit is 1-2 servings a day (serving = size of your fist), either as part of a meal or immediately after.

If you are hungry in between meals, you can have a mini-meal snack that includes a protein and fat.

I can tell you our experience if you like. My wife and I have just completed the whole30 and we made our minds up to follow the plan. So we had 3 meals a day for 30 days which included a good serving of protein, some added fat and a plate load of veggies with every meal. We ate a small amount of fruit but kept it to a minimum and we never ate the fruit as a snack, always with our meal. We only drank hot water, black coffee and tea.

I can tell you the first week I was quite hungry as my body was adapting because I've always been a "snacker". It felt weird having a cooked breakfast every morning (after 56 years of cereal for breakfast) but we soon got over that and now it's our preferred breakfast. After a week or so the between meal hunger left and now our 3 meals a day take us right through the day and we've never eaten better. We no longer snack at all, three meals a day and that's it. After 30 days we've continued on our merry way with the plan, it's our way of life now and we can't see ourselves going back anytime soon. Although we now eat more than we've ever eaten before, we've both lost weight, have more energy and sleep better. My wife never got on the scales (because she hates them anyway) before or after, there's no need, you only have to look at her. As for myself, well I'm a lightweight so I wasn't looking for weight loss. However I did get on the scales and at the start of my whole30. I'm 6'1" and weighed 72.5kg (160lbs) and about 40 days later I'm 64.5kg (142lbs). If you adopt this lifestyle, you'll never need to step foot on scales again... Good luck :) PS if you'd like to see our 3 meals a day, you can find them on my pinterest board here

Thank y'all for your suggestions!  Sorry it took me a while to respond.  I had a hard time figuring out how to find this conversation!  I'm new to forum posting as well ;)  Anyway, thank you again.  It has helped so much having this support!.  The cravings have subsided for the moment; they kind of come and go.  I still have to work on my goals, as I jumped right in as soon as I realized I needed a lifestyle/health/diet/nutrition overhaul!  I do know that a few of my main goals are to: rediscover a healthy relationship with food and my body, be stronger, healthier and have a better outlook/mood, and to lose the extra weight I'm carrying around.  The hardest thing still seems to be the trusting part.  Trusting that I can and will lose the extra weight by eating until I'm satisfied (not sure if I am capable of knowing that intuitively yet), and eating fats with every meal.  Also, I am still dealing with the habit of snacking- which tends to be something easy and quick, like almonds or macadamia nuts- more fat!  Today is day 3, and I will just keep on keeping on, and TRUST.  By the way, yesterday I felt really well!  Very exciting.  Today, not so great.  But, if you all say that it does get better- I'll hang in there.  I'm sure it is totally worth it!  Thanks again.
