texastina26
So Im on Day 20. I feel fantastic. I love the daily 30 emails. they are so helpful. This weekend I ventured out to socialize a bit more than I have. I was confronted by cinnamon roles, chips and queso and delicious looking cocktails. I stayed true to the whole30 (high five to me!) but I just keep thinking about when it over, how do I not go off the deep end? I have a hard time with moderation and find I do better with extremes. while I love all the healthy food Im eating, I still want to enjoy other things from time to time (when I finish the whole30) but how to I manage/balance it? I feel so in control and clear headed. does that all go away after you reintroduce things?
Beets
1. That feeling definitely goes away when you reintroduce troublesome foods. 2. You don't have to stop. I had a lot of anxiety about my w30 ending. I stayed on for an extra week and then went out for a nice dinner where I had alcohol, sugar and a little dairy. Since then Ive been on and off road like a drunk person driving a 4wD vehicle on a bumpy, overgorwn dirt road. (In fairness to myself Ive mostly stuck to template eating with some off-road foods thrown in: wine and dark chocolate being the most regular, with bites of dairy and two wheat eposiodes.) Wheat (haven't had any other grains) feels wretched for days and days, dairy is painful. I have seriously regretted the fact that I squandered the opportunity to carefully reintro foods to see exactly what causes which reactions. I'm doing my second w30 now and a big goal is careful reintro. If you want to stay on w30, make sure you are stocked with your most favorite w30 foods. Your brain will be screaming at you to eat all manner of crap. Make a plan. Don't leave it to chance.
