7babies
I did my whole 30. I reintroduced stuff. No changes. Nothing. I felt fine during the whole 30 and I feel fine now. Am I just not sensitive? Did I win a genetic lottery? Does it benefit me to continue to avoid dairy and grains if they don't seem to make me feel bad? I'm not a huge eater of these things but I do like some homemade granola and yogurt on a baked potato now and then. Thoughts? For the record I run about 30 miles/week am 50 yo, 5'6" 130 ib. if any of that matters. Old age maybe might matter.
GFChris
I'm guessing you weren't eating a lot of the questionable things beforehand (e.g., soda, sugar, and you mentioned you weren't a huge dairy or grain eater). So, perhaps that's why (and maybe there's some genetic lottery in there) you didn't see much of a difference?FWIW, I don't consider 50 to be "old," and I don't see what age would have to do with it. If anything, you're running routine is likely more of a factor.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 2, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 2, 2013 Whether you experience problematic symptoms or not, dairy, grains, etc. make you less healthy. You just have more freedom of choice than some people. Like you, I don't notice symptoms when I eat off plan foods. However, some symptoms are too subtle to notice. For example, about two weeks into my first Whole30, I was sleeping better than I had in 5 years. I have no idea what change in my diet made that difference and I'm not really interested in testing enough to figure out whether it was bagels, yogurt, etc. I just mostly eat meat and veggies and enjoy how well I sleep nowadays.
