ctriefus
I have an asian grocery store close by that stocks a lot of great stuff such as Aroy-D coconut milk. I also buy KTC Coconut Oil there and it is relatively inexpensive compared to the raw, virgin coconut oil at £4 for 200g! I just wanted to check that this oil is OK - I know its not as fantastic as the raw, virgin stuff but does anyone know if it has been treated in any way to make it not compliant? I couldn't find anything on the manufacturers website. Thanks!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 4, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 4, 2013 I don't know anything about KTC specifically. I tried some cheap coconut oils that I found in a Persian market years ago. They were functional, but did not add the smell and hints of taste that really good coconut oil does, so I stopped buying the cheap stuff. My guess is that KTC is okay, just not as delightful as a more expensive coconut oil.

Derval
I usually have 2 types on the go, the posh organic Biona jar (€7 for small jar) for using in bullet proof coffee etc and the cheap Cocowell (€6 for big jar) for bog standard frying.
Bethany Lannon
I use the cheap stuff too. I prefer the fancy stuff but just can't fit it in the budget. Nothing wrong with it, IMO. Considering what I buy is $6 for a 30oz jug, and the standard 16oz jars of the fancy stuff run $7+, I'm good with the cheap stuff.
