sperrygrass
Hi, I'm Sheila and I'm starting today. I'm 51, married 22 years with 3 kids, 21, 19 and 17. I am very overweight. I need to lose at least 100 pounds. This will be my first Whole30. I tried to do this a few months ago but wasn't ready. Even though I planned and planned it just wasn't the right time. I have been more and more miserable lately. More heartburn, bathroom issues, horrible rashes on the backs of my hands when I eat certain things. I am convinced it all has to do with what I eat. I wasn't even thinking about this but met a nice woman at the farmer's market yesterday. We were just talking and she mentioned coconut oil. My ears perked up because most people don't know about that unless you know something about paleo stuff. Then she went on to say she had just started a Whole30! I was so excited! It was a sign. So we talked and she encouraged me to start today. She also recommended the Whole30 Daily emails. So I signed up yesterday. I love them already! I need lots of encouragement as my family thinks I'm nuts. They all think I"ll fail and I don't blame them. I haven't had the best track record. Lose weight, gain it back. But I think this is the right way to go. I am also doing this for health and not only weight loss. I will be doing this alone at home but I know it is the right decision. I'm so glad this forum is here. Hope we can all help each other get through these 30 days!

Miss Pisces
Well done Shelia in making the decision to give it a go! My family are skeptical as well as I too have not got the best track record but I figure the only thing to do is prove them all wrong and really do it this time!!!! I started on the 1st but did not do it 100% compliant so restarted on the 6th like you! I also have three kids but mine are younger than yours at 12, 10 and 7 I will be making family dinners that are compliant, my family has been mostly paleo for a long while so this wont be too hard as they are used to it and I will just add rice etc when they really want it. So good to have this forum for support and encouragement, what a great group of people and I look forward to this journey together. Good luck Everyone, Melissa :-)
sperrygrass
So glad to hear I have company. Day 2 hangover big time today. But I know why so that helps. Had a party today and brought my own food. Good thing I did as there was nothing that I could have eaten. I knew my brother-in-law was making a brisket but he drenched it in tons of barbeque sauce. Even if he didn't, my son said it had some non-compliant oil and stuff on it. Otherwise I had made potato salad and taco salad. They had baked beans and fried everything (brother-in-law likes to fry things-yuck). I wouldn't have eaten the fried stuff even if I wasn't doing this. So I made a salad with leftover grilled steak, avocado, olives, tons of greens and a nice olive oil, lemon juice and spicy mustard dressing. I brought cherries from the farmer's market for when they had cake and ice cream (father-in-law's birthday). I felt great afterwards and not stuffed at all. I am so proud of myself! It really helps to have encouragement and the daily emails. We can do this!!!
Alohachic
I'm on day 2 and feeling really nauseated......anyone else have this problem or knowing this is to be expected?
sperrygrass
Nope. I'm sure everyone will have different symptoms depending on what they ate in the past, their body and how they process things. Hope you feel better soon Alohachic! Today I woke very early feeling really good. Headache gone, good mood. It's almost scary. I got the email that says I would be cranky and sleepy. I know it's different for everyone but so far so good today. Keep going everyone!

Alohachic
Doing pretty good. On day 5! Glad you posted on here because I was starting to have a craving for some not so good food, but then I saw this. I have been a little cranky today but I guess that's to be expected. I am happy with my progress so far and am glad y'all are here for support!! How is everyone else doing? sperrygrass
Yay Alohachic! I'm so glad I helped you even a little. When I start to feel that way or think this will be too hard, I just come here or on the Facebook page and read posts or make myself write something. I always seem to feel better right away. I also tell myself I will eat this next meal in compliance for today. Then it doesn't seem so overwhelming. Just for today. Good way to think about it! Hang in there! If I can do it, so can you! amberino21
I think one meal at a time is a great way to go about this! I've been used to sticking to plans for ages, so the food isn't too difficult - when I first changed my lifestyle/food a lot, taking one day at a time was a whole lot easier than thinking about extended periods Doing pretty good. On day 5! Glad you posted on here because I was starting to have a craving for some not so good food, but then I saw this. I have been a little cranky today but I guess that's to be expected. I am happy with my progress so far and am glad y'all are here for support!! How is everyone else doing? I rarely eat lollies (sweets? Confectionary?) but ended up in the lolly aisle during my shop yesterday - there seemed to be so many new things, all the packaging seemed so much brighter and more enticing than normal, and everything seemed tempting! I don't usually eat that stuff, or even crave it....it was hard to leave some of it on the shelf! It didn't help that I had no energy and felt sick...
