Day 17 - Feeling weak...

Recommended Posts

I have felt pretty good from the start, I didn't feel that 'carb flu' the first couple of weeks that the book talks about, but think maybe I am now. Generally feel ok, but my muscle energy feels low, I have to go three flights of stairs to an apartment we have, and my legs feel like rubber, and a fairly typical 5km run seems to zap the energy out of my muscles and I can't finish. It feels like a 'low blood sugar' kind of thing. I have felt this way in the past when I hadn't eaten for a while and needed something...

I have been pretty compliant... my only real issue would be that I don't always stick to three meals and no snacking... when I have nuts in the house I tend to eat to many of them and snack on them. Also, fruit a bit of snacking and maybe some extra. otherwise I have been keeping it pretty balanced and have switched to avocados for the fat part of the meal so as to avoid temptations.

I haven't been very consistent about eating a sweet potato carb - post workout meal. But have eaten a small pre-workout meal usually and feel like I have been eating plenty.

The book talks about switching from burning carbs/sugar to burning fat. Is that all this is and it will work itself out? Or do I need to be eating more of something to give more energy?

I know... just stick with it, everything will be ok!

My cure for feeling tired is to eat sweet potato every day. You might find it helps to really eat a post-workout meal with lean protein and sweet potato. If you ate more at meals and ate pre- and post-workout meals all the time, you might find it easier to avoid snacking.
