letitbeatles9
I'm on Day 5 of my Whole30 (I'm doing the modified version for people with autoimmune diseases: http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Shopping-List-Autoimmune.pdf). I just discovered the raisins I've been eating list sunflower oil as an ingredient. I've had about 7-8 raisins with each of my last three meals. This actually comes after eating turkey sausage with honey and fennel seeds listed as ingredients for two meals on Day 2. I'm seeking advice on how much these ingredients might affect my Whole30? Do I have to start over?? I can't tell you how disheartening that would be, finding out everything I've been going through has just been wasted effort. Physibeth
I can't speak to the AI protocol, but sunflower oil is not forbidden on a regular W30. Sugar doesn't generally constitute a restart if it was an accident and not an emotional driven cave in.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 20, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 20, 2013 Right. Only the honey is a problem and it is not a big enough issue to restart, especially from day 2. The problem with sunflower oil is cooking with it. It is not banned, but the oil does not deal with heat well. Fennel seeds are fine.
Vian
Small ammounts of added sugar in packaged foods consumed in ignorance isn't enough to warrant a re-start. But make sure you don't keep eating those foods now that you know they have sugar in them.
