SamZ
Hello! in May of 2012 I embarked on two journeys: CrossFit and Paleo. I was excited and better for it. Felt great inside and out! Never did I dream that I would fall off the wagon, but I did. A few months ago I began sneaking in food that was not user friendly, then I switched from days to mid nights working in a hospital which has thrown me into a whole new world. So, after a few weeks of feeling worst than I did going through the first week of detox I've boarded the train. In the past I have dabled with Whole30, just for fun. Being very strict Paleo I didn't take it very seriously but this time it's different. Just the new work schedule has made CrossFit and healthy eating more difficult. This time I need a support group! So if anyone out there is interested in joining my journey it would be greatly appreciated. Especially those who may also work that crazy shift called "mid nights". Its a challenge to get in a good workout, prepare meals and try to be somewhat normal let alone sleep. I'm on day 2 and I am already dealing with cravings for sugar. Been there done that! Made it through the first time, I'll make it through this time. Have a great day!

jaydee
HI Sam, I am right there with you today. I have put off re-starting for several reasons (excuses) in the past few weeks, but today is the day. I also have been doing a combo of crossfit and real food/paleo for the past two years. But I have not been able to get myself back on track for awhile. I took a month off of crosffit due to travel and a little burnout but went back this week. I am also home on a stay-cation for the next week and a half or so. Not having my usual routine is a little disconcerting but I'm trying to make that part of the challenge. I work in a hospital also, but not the night shift. Typically I work out after work, but I was hoping to get in a few morning workouts while I'm off, but that hasn't happened so far. I look forward to checking in with you, hopefully we can keep each other motivated and in check. Good luck.
SamZ
Hi Jaydee! I hope you had a great time traveling and are enjoying your stay-cation as well. And yes, let's keep each other in check and on the right path. With that said...there's a reason to prepare ahead and I was reminded of that lat night. Working 3 12s in a row, Wednesday being my first. Made great food choices, even snuck in CrossFit before my shift started. Fast forward...slept, managed CrossFit, ran out of time to grab food from home. No biggie I can eat a salad with protein from the cafeteria. Go to the caf and its CLOSED ALL NIGHT. You'll like this! Their cleaning it for JACHO( or whatever). So I run to Starbucks to grab a salad and all that's left is sandwiches. I was so starved and needing protein after working out that I grabbed it and wolfed down half before throwing it away in disgust. So, I hit the fail button. The worst part is I know better. Should have eaten sooner after working out, should have prepared a day in advance, should have eaten the inside of the sandwich and thrown the bread away, blahblahblah. Wow, that actually felt good to get out. I'm glad today's a new day! Now that you have read my novel please share how your doing. I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate you climbing aboard this train. Did I mention that this time I have conceded and actually taken a selfie with next to nothing on...ugh. I'm determined that in 30 days I'll be posting my phenomenal results. Take care and have a great day!
jaydee
So funny about the selfie, I took one ( front and side shots) emailed them to myself and then deleted them from my phone. Food wise, I am doing okay but I need more sleep. My kids are on summer break (teenagers) and I don't go to sleep until they are home. I woke up today not feeling rested at all and didn't make it to crossfit. I rallied later and then went for a long bike ride. Also had a nice dinner out for my husband's birthday and made good choices skipping the bread, wine and dessert and eating fish, salad and veggies. I did step on the scale this morning (old habits die hard) and was bummed 1) because the number didn't change and 2) that I got on the scale at all. So lesson learned, I will not be checking my weight again till the end. I am actually going a little longer than thirty, more like a Whole44. I have an annual girls weekend on the beach and well, rumrunners are required so there is that to deal with. Planning is key and now you'll be better prepared so no worries there. It's hard to make good choices when you are hungry and the pickings are slim. So away we go.....
