I made this for Breakfast but now not sure it's "ok"

Ok let me start by saying I am on day 18 of my first whole 30 and feeling great! I've never been a breakfast eater so that has been a challenge for me but now that my hormones seem to be in check and I'm eating real food, not a sugar and carb dense diet I am starting to wake up hungry.  I'm able to eat all I should with breakfast and make it a great start to the day.

A friend who follows the Paleo diet gave me a suggestion to try and I tried it today and LOVED it but now half way through my day I'm wondering if it's "legal."  I took a banana and mashed it with one egg, added nutmeg and cinnamon and plopped it in a pan and let it cook on each side (like a pancake) and then used a very small amount of cashew butter on it and paired it with half an avocado and some egg whites.  Now I am not a pancake eater, I actually do not like them.  They always sit heavy in my belly so given the option I will not eat them.  So in my mind I'm not making whole 30 "junk" by making these banana cakes but I know it's not correct to make things like pancakes.  If I'm not replacing a love for pancakes is this ok?

Basically...it this something I can eat again or should it be something after my 30 days are up? And did I cheat and have to start over?

You don't have to start over. But what you had fits the definition of a paleo pancake, which is not allowed on a Whole30, regardless of your prior history with pancakes. Paleo-ifying anything is out.

Save the recipe and postpone cooking it again until after you're done with your Whole30.

Also, did you have any vegetables with this dish this morning? The Whole30 meal template calls for vegetables at each meal: shoot for 1-2 cups per meal.

Ah yes I did! I forgot to mention there was squash and spinach in my egg whites.  Thanks for the info.  Now I'm upset with myself but I will continue down the path I was on prior to this morning.  So far this is my only "mistake."

Chris is right about mashed banana with spices being kind of paleo-fied pancake. But wait, there is more... Beginning your day with fruit is not the best choice, especially a sweet fruit like banana. It is okay to eat bananas, but it is probably best to save sweet foods for later in the day and not to break your fast with fruit.

You don't have to start over based upon what you ate here. And hey, eat your egg yolks! The best nutrition is in the yolks. :)

Thank you for your help and support! I do usually eat the yolks, today I figured there was a yolk in the banana but I won't make that mistake again.  I hadn't thought about the banana not being the best choice in the am! Good advice!!  I usually go to the gym first thing in the am so I have a small handful of cashews prior to the gym and breakfast after (5am work outs on a full stomach seem to make me really queasy).
